News Central Wednesday July 12, 2006 ======================= # Tate Monroe returned from a short trip to the United States on Saturday, in preperation for the start of Dream World Tag League '06 tour. The reigning Independent Super-Lightweight Champion appeared to have benefited from the time away, and was in a noticeably more relaxed mood than at the end of the last tour. He took some brief questions from the local press before retiring to his hotel room, here are the highlights: - On his outspoken comments following his first successful title defense, and whether he stood by them: "I stand by every word. I'll admit, at the time I was frustrated, I was angry, I perhaps threw some caution to the wind. But the fact is, everything I said was true. I'm not the only one who knows it, but obviously the only one with the courage to say it." - On the upcoming announcement of whole his next championship opponent would be, along with the challenge laid down by Darkness Kitty: "It really doesn't matter to me. I proved last tour that I have nothing to fear from any challenger in this company. I defeated two men, something unheard of in Dream Fujin, emerging victorious despite the odds being stacked heavily against me. And in the process I cemented my place as the undisputed rightful holder of this championship. Not Griffin James, the golden child who I proved once and for all is simply not on my level. And certainly not Elvis Sunday, who's Dream Fujin career was as good as over the day he turned his back on me. And whoever's next in line, the result will be the same. I fought for months to earn, EARN my chance at the Independent Super-Lightweight title. And now I have it, I have no intention of giving it up. Not to a novelty act like Darkness Kitty, not to a bitter, undeserving loudmouth punk like Yoshida, and as I've already proven, certainly not to an overhyped gloryhound like the fallen idol, Griffin James." - And finally, on his place in the world tag league, alongside partner Tyrone Walker: "I always welcome new challenges, and to anyone else who expects to win this league, I will say just this -- name, if you can, one avenue of competition in Dream Fujin that Tate Monroe HASN'T excelled in and won." # Fresh off a lackluster win over RISE members Jin Ketsumo and Tsuyoshi Sai, 666 enforcer MIURA sat down in the locker room with reporters to discuss the path 666 has cut in recent weeks. The former monk was sporting a rather new look compared to his former monk ensemble; he's let his hair grow out, but it's still relatively short, but no longer the cropped head he once had. Meanwhile, he's still in his kanji-laden tights and boots, sporting a cocky grin, something we'd never see in his previous form. "So since we formed, we've been turning heads; we're Dream Fujin's resident freak collection and we've been running amok. All you need to know that is our victory over Fujingun at the last tour. We haven't been able to get the Trinity X titles yet, but we'll worry about those after the Dream World Tag League. For now, though, we need to ensure Kitty! gets the Independent Super-Lightweight title, and that Shadows wins the Shirouto Cup for our collection. Then, we can begin ruling Dream Fujin with an iron fist by procuring the Trinity X titles." When asked about the Dream World Tag League and his current progress... "It's only one match we've had so far. Super Orange Panda's always had potential, and I'm willing to endure this battle with him. However, I was slightly perturbed when I'd read they're calling us the 'B' team of 666. I say to you now, 666 doesn't operate in 'A' and 'B' ranks; Darkness Kitty! is our leader, but that's all. I'm going to be working extra-hard to make sure that Panda and myself don't get lost in the rubble of the League. You saw what I did to the RISE kids, and you get an idea of what I can possibly do to everyone else in this league. 666 will reign supreme, but I will make sure that *I* am the one who stands out in this league, to prove my worth as a member of 666. "I'm not intimidated by the likes of Fujingun or Special X. Super Orange Panda and myself WILL reign supreme, and if by chance we encounter Kitty! and Shadows in the final... well, I won't lay down. I just hope Panda won't either." MIURA then took on an uncomfortable disposition as he got up and headed back to the locker room. # Dream Fujin press caught up with Griffin James for a few brief comments... On the previous tour "Eh, it happened, and I'm through magically acting like a third grader about the whole situation. I'm gonna waste way too much damned energy trading words with a bunch of dudes that... heh, I was about to do it again, wasn't I? Bottom line is, I'm through with all of... that nonsense. My focus is on the Dream World Tag League right now. I'm gonna remain positive. Everything will come back around eventually." On if he was worried if things would escalate between himself and his various detractors: "Nah. I'll be in the ring every night on this tour, so they know where to find me if they really have a problem. Other than that, I'm moving on." On the future: "It's all about Dream Fujin- maybe I forgot about that just long enough to slip a little on the last tour. I won't forget again. Besides, I don't think Ryoga will let me." On the subject of Ryoga Miike, he has been in limited contact with DF officials as he's apparently been training harder than ever to prove that his comeback is not a fluke. He and Griffin James are looking to turn more than a few heads during the Dream World Tag League and raise the banner of Fujingun higher than ever before. Only time will tell if Miike's intense training regimen pays off... © Dream Fujin, 2006. |
