News Central Wednesday July 26, 2006 ======================= # Special X met with reporters after the July 24 show at Mombetsu Sports Center. Usagi Yoshida and Ryoji Mifune were in street clothes, whereas Kamen Kanoji, the only member of the group to wrestle on the show, appeared in a bathrobe and his mask, which resulted in a fair bit of laughter from the press corps. QUESTION: "Why haven't we heard from you three recently?" - Usagi Yoshida: "There really hasn't been a break from our training." - Ryoji Mifune: "Yeah, I mean, we've had a defense of the Trinity-X titles, plus there's the tag league... " - Kamen Kanoji: "... and I've been wrestling solo for the first time in quite a while." - Yoshida: "Right. Our minds have really been on other things." QUESTION: "Kanoji, how do you feel about wrestling in singles?" - Kanoji: "It's totally a new experience. I'm just getting used to it... it's good experience, but the way this league has been set up, I guess I was the odd man out. I'm looking forward to getting back with Usagi and Ryoji soon... we had a defense of the belts, but it feels good to have my friends with me." QUESTION: "Yoshida and Mifune, you are one win away from clenching a spot in the semifinals, but you have quite a formidable team to face to get there in Darkness Kitty! and Shadows." - Mifune: "No kidding. They're really good... I mean, they wouldn't be in this position if they weren't." - Yoshida: "Yeah, I just think that Mifune and I are a better team than they are. You know, I was told that if we win and another team wins, we set up quite a logjam in the standings." - Mifune: "You mean that Monroe/Nanami team?" - Yoshida: "I was _trying_ not to say their name. The only reason that team beat us was sheer fluke... even the media said so. Anyway, I do like a good bit of controversy, so that alone should be motivation for us to win... but the chance to get even more bragging rights in this company is reason enough to do everything in our power to win." - Mifune: "I just want another chance to get in the ring with that punk Monroe after he beat me." - Yoshida: "Fluke, man. Fluke." QUESTION: "Yoshida, what about Tate Monroe's comments about you? Specifically saying that you haven't done anything meaningful in the last six months, that the Trinity-X titles are tainted because the belts were stripped, and that you willingly gave up the Independent Super Lightweight title." - Yoshida: "Seriously, he's so full of lies and idiocy that it's beginning to feel like a waste of my time to respond to it all. Has he not been paying attention since I came back? I didn't know I was stripped of my title until a couple of hours _after_ it was announced. I've been protesting the title being stripped ever since I got back. How the fuck can he honestly think I _willingly_ gave up the most prestigious title in Japan? Furthermore, what scares me is that he actually _believes_ these lies. He says he deserves the title... that just is so sad that I can't even begin to point out why. I said it before, I'll say it again... since Dream Fujin took control of that title, only three men have held it; myself, Monroe, and Griffin James. I've beaten both of them, and they've never beaten me. I've been back for months now, and I haven't been offered a chance at getting _my_ belt back. Hmmm, how strange, don't you think? You say you've outperformed everyone in singles matches, and everyone knows it's a lie, Monroe. You not only haven't beaten me, but you simply _can't_ beat me. So consider this an official challenge. I'm tired of you keeping my belt warm." # The Metal Gods, British Steel and Maiden Japan, spoke to SportNavi.com about their performances in the Dream World Tag League 2006, in an interview that was laced with the titles of songs by the two bands that have inspired the pair - Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. "The Metal Gods are Heading Out To The Highway, and we're Screaming For Vengeance baby! We're United, and while we're not Breaking The Law, you can bet that when this tournament is said and done, we'll be Delivering The Goods," said British Steel. "You other teams better Run To Hhe Hills, because the Metal Gods are Running Free! Time's running out in this tournament - it's Two Minutes To Midnight and that means it's time to Be Quick Or Be Dead!," added Maiden Japan. "You've all been warned. If you think the Metal Gods aren't serious about winning the Dream World Tag League... You've Got Another Thing Coming!" The pair then broke into a display of air guitar before leaving. © Dream Fujin, 2006. |
