Dream Fujin
Saturday July 29
Tsukisamu Green Dome
4500 fans

A massive crowd, although not capacity, turned out to the Green Dome for tonight's tour ending show, on which the inaugural Dream World Tag League champions were to be crowned. After weeks of round robin matches and playoffs, the League final was set for tonight.

--------------------------------------------------

Match One:
Ham Fighter Kimoto vs Funky Monkey[Monkey Pro]

Pure comedy to open the show. Kimoto was as popular as ever in the hometown of the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters baseball team, from which he takes his gimmick. Also popular was the Fighters' mascot, Brisky the Bear.

The antics included the wrestlers getting the crowd to chant their names (Kimoto's chant was by far the loudest), and chant for Brisky and even referee Uncle Dai!

Kimoto finished off Funky Monkey with his "Home Run" double fist strike.

Winner: Kimoto
Time Of Match: 5'22"

Match Two - DEFEAT ALL MONSTER elimination match:
Jigoku Monsters Blue, Red, Black and Green
vs
Party Animal Delta, Ultraman Zeta, Kyuki Shonjo, Ketsu Tonaga

The culmination of the DEFEAT ALL MONSTER series saw four members of Fujingun's Rookie Army face off against the combined forces of the Jigoku Monsters.

There were plenty of crazy multiple-person spots, insane dives from the ring and of course many, many exciting near falls.

The Jigoku Monsters got the early advantage when a triple-team session led to Zeta being pinned by Jigoku Monster Black. The Fujingun rookies battled back to even things up, Shonjo making Jigoku Monster Red tap out to a crabhold.

The next to be eliminated was Tonaga, who fell victim to a Jigoku Monster Blue sitout powerbomb. Again the good guys fought back to even things up, PAD pinning Jigoku Monster Green after an awesome dragonrana.

Things weren't looking good for the Fujingun rookies though, when PAD was pinned by Jigoku Monster Black following an illegal chairshot that wasn't picked up by the referee. Kyuki Shonjo was left to face two Jigoku Monsters by himself.

The monsters worked over Shonjo for a good six or seven minutes, getting several near falls, but Shonjo refused to give up. Showing his usual fighting spirit, he fought back and pinned Jigoku Monster Black with a roll up, setting the crowd alight!

It was down to Kyuki Shonjo and Jigoku Monster Blue, the two wrestlers fighting hard and swapping near falls until it looked like Shonjo's fightback was in vain, as he started to run out of energy. Jigoku Monster Black looked to finished him off with a top rope huracanrana, but Shonjo held onto the corner, leaving Black to fall hard onto the mat. Shonjo then lept off the top, nailing the Jigoku Monster with a tornado DDT for the 3-count!

The Fujingun rookies stormed the ring to celebrate with Kyuki Shonjo, as the Jigoku Monsters had been banished from Dream Fujin!

Winners: Fujingun
Time of Match: 12'16"

Match Three:
HERO Ishikawa, Wasai Thrillblade & Apollo Kid III
vs
El Hijo del Super Macho[ILL], Fuego Tigre jr[ILL] & Steel Cougar

Next it was time for the token lucha match of the night, as MEGA Gurentai combined with the touring Mexican duo and rookie Steel Cougar to put on a good match with all of the pacing and spots of a match in Mexico.

Ishikawa was the star of the match, using his favoured rudo tactics as well as a variety of fistdrops to thrill the fans. Thrillblade seemed to be wrestling slightly injured, so took little part in the match, while EHdSM and Tigre jr provided plenty of soft-hitting lucha spots, and Apollo Kid and Cougar struggled at times, but did okay.

Ishikawa pinned Cougar after the HERO's Welcome to pick up the win for his team.

Winners: MEGA Gurentai
Time Of Match: 12'07"

--------------------------------------------------

Match Four:
Kamen Kanoji vs Tommy Kamoura

The masked loverboy of Special X up against the European-trained newcomer who has had mixed results on this tour. Kanoji brought the comedy, frustrating Kamoura by stalling throughout the match, serenading a ringside fan, blowing kisses, the usual stuff.

Once he'd used up all of his comedy antics, Kanoji showed that he can actually wrestle, using his speed to try to counter Kamoura's fluid style. In the end Kamoura was too good though, picking up the win with a brainbuster.

Winners: Kamoura
Time Of Match: 8'57"

--------------------------------------------------

Match Five:
MIURA & Super Darkness Panda
vs
British Steel & Maiden Japan

A repeat of last night's Group B tiebreaker, this match saw the Metal Gods take on one half of the group known as 666. The mullet-wigged, masked metallers went through the paces with their usual spots, like the Headbanger's Fall, the Crowd Surf and the air guitar highflying, which kept the crowd entertained. MIURA and Panda didn't do anything of real note, particularly Panda, but did enough to pick up the win.

MIURA pinned Maiden Japan with his praying Southern piledriver.

Winners: MIURA/Panda
Time Of Match: 12'28"

--------------------------------------------------

Match Six:
Griffin James & Ryoga Miike
vs
Darkness Kitty! & Shadows

Many people probably expected this to be the Dream World Tag League final, but neither team advanced beyond the semifinal, so were stuck here battling on the semi-main of the night. Maybe it was the fact that it was the end of a long, exhausting tour, or the fact that both teams were disappointed at not making the league final, but neither team had any real fire in their bellies here tonight.

It was a rather lackluster performance, with even the consistently-great James and Kitty! seeming to phone it in tonight.

The Fujingun duo picked up the win over their 666 counterparts when James pinned Shadows following a pair of Yakuza kicks.

Winners: James/Miike
Time Of Match: 16'21"

MAIN EVENT - Dream World Tag League final:
Usagi Yoshida & Ryoji Mifune
vs
Tate Monroe & Yoshino Nanami

Nanami and Mifune started things off slowly, with a series of reversals of basic holds, like armbars and hammerlocks, Mifune throwing in a headstand escape from an armlock. Nanami became frustrated by the technical stuff and started throwing kicks, but Mifune evaded them, then took him down into a kneebar, transitioning into mounted punches, then back to a hammerlock.

Nanami escaped, and Mifune tagged in Yoshida for the first time, the crowd applauding loudly. Yoshida and Nanami grappled for a bit, before Monroe was tagged in, drawing a loud "ooohh" from the crowd, excited to see Yoshida and Monroe in the ring together, as the two have traded hate-filled comments throughout this tour.

Yoshida and Monroe traded holds, Yoshida holding his own for a while, but the Independent champion out-grappling him and putting the former champ down on the canvas in a painful double armbar submission hold. Yoshida made the ropes, forcing the break. Monroe was cocky, grinning and yelling to the crowd "he's nothing!". They locked up again, Yoshida gaining the advantage with a hammerlock, but a split second later he found himself flat on his back, locked in a jujigatame! Again Yoshida was forced to scramble to the ropes.

Monroe tagged Nanami back in, and he peppered Yoshida with some kicks, before running the ropes, but right into a middle kick from Yoshida. Yoshida whipped him towards the ropes, Nanami doing his popular one-hand cartwheel into a Yakuza kick spot, but Yoshida ducked the boot, rebounding and performing his crowd-pleasing multiple-revolution corbata!

Nanami was dazed, but stopped Yoshida in his tracks with an elbowshot, then whipped him across the ring. He charged in with a corner lariat, then monkey flipped Yoshida out of the corner, but Yoshida flipped right onto his feet! Nanami charged and was taken down with a snap huracanrana by Yoshida, for 2!

Nanami tried another elbowshot, but Yoshida countered, taking him down into the Psyence Crossface! Nanami was in trouble, but Monroe made the save. Nanami tagged out, bringing Monroe back in. Yoshida followed suit, bringing Mifune in.

Mifune and Monroe traded reversals and counterholds, the two forming a blur across the ring as they tried to outdo each other technically. The sequence ended with Monroe holding Mifune down with a crucifix pin, which got 2. Monroe played to the crowd some more, as Mifune looked a little surprised.

They locked up again, and in a blur Mifune again found his shoulders on the mat for 2. Another blur of movement, and another 2 on Mifune! Monroe smirked and held his fingers inches apart, to say "it was this close".

Another lock up, and another armhold by Monroe, but Mifune had an easy answer for it this time - a spinning backfist! Roll up for 2! Reveral by Monroe, 2! La majistral by Mifune, 2! Roll through by Monroe, 2! Mifune with a sunset pin, 2! Reversed by Monroe, 2! Schoolboy by Mifune, 2! Double underhook roll over pin by Monroe, 2 1/2! Both men stood, breathing heavily, as the crowd applauded loudly!

Mifune and Monroe started to trade forearms, until Mifune got stiff with open hand slaps and elbows, stunning the Independent champ! Mifune into the ropes, but Nanami kneed him in the back through the ropes. He grabbed hold of Mifune, as Monroe charged... Mifune moved, Monroe knocked Nanami off the apron and onto the floor heavily!

Monroe couldn't believe it, and he turned around as Mifune charged. Monroe ducked, and then lariated Mifune over the top rope to the floor. Nanami and Mifune started to trade blows at ringside, as Yoshida came in and charged at Monroe. He ducked Monroe's lariat, launching throug the ropes... TOPE onto Nanami! Monroe followed up with a baseball slide dropkick, blasting Yoshida in the chest and sending him crashing into the railing! Slowly Nanami, Monroe and Yoshida rose at ringside, as Mifune had climbed up onto the apron... and launched onto Monroe and Yoshida with an Asai moonsault! Nanami had escaped and rolled into the ring. He waited for the others to rise at ringside, then dived onto them with a slingshot forward flip plancha!

All four men were now down at ringside, Monroe was the first to get up, rolling Mifune back into the ring. Mifune reversed a whip into the corner, but Monroe ducked out of the way of the corner charge, then belly to belly suplexed Mifune across the ring! Mifune staggered to his feet, but was sent straight back down with a dragon suplex, Monroe bridging for the count... only 2!

Monroe German suplexed Mifune, but Mifune landed on his feet, then dropped Monroe with a backdrop suplex! No cover, instead he tagged in Yoshida, to a big pop! Yoshida charged in and dropped Monroe with a lariat, dragging him back up and planting him with a brainbuster for 2! He lifted Monroe up, turning him over and putting him in position for the Psyborg Driver (tombstone piledriver). But Monroe fought it, kicking wildly and swinging his bodyweight sideways, falling onto his feet, with Yoshida now in the tombstone position! Yoshida in turn fought it, falling back to his feet and SPIKING Monroe with a DDT!

No cover by Yoshida, who dragged Monroe up and lifted him into an over the shoulder backbreaker position, setting up for the Rabbit in the Moon. But Monroe slid out of it, grabbing Yoshida's right arm in the process and bringing it down painfully across his shoulder, before in the blink of an eye taking him down with a rolling jujigatame! Yoshida quickly fought to the ropes, so Monroe dragged him back into the middle of the ring and applied his patented dragon sleeper/chickenwing combo!

The fans were in a real panic as Yoshida fought it, everyone sensing that no man could stay conscious for long in this hold! Yoshida continued to fight though, until Mifune came in to break it up and make the save. Monroe tagged in Nanami, then belly to belly suplexed Yoshida into a neutral corner, the Special Xer landing in a seated position, where Nanami followed up right away by running flipping off the top turnbuckle, landing back on his feet and a split second later nailing a basement dropkick!

Nanami used his legs to hold Yoshida down for the pin while Monroe ran over and blasted Mifune off the apron with a forearm, ensuring he couldn't make the save. 2 1/2! Nanami followed up with a flurry of kicks, then a running shotei for 2! Some of the fans started to chant "YO-SHI-DA", as Nanami headed to the top.

Yoshida sprang to his feet, rushing over and climbing up, only to be shoved down by Nanami. Yoshida was persistent though, rolling right back up and climbing up... but Nanami shoved him down again! Yoshida rolled to his feet instantly, charging over, but this time he didn't climb up, but lept up and nailed Nanami with a stiff enzuigiri! With Nanami stunned, Yoshida climbed, hooked him, and sent him down with a superplex, keeping hold of his head and rolling through into his patented half-straightjacket front guillotine choke, Hide Your Face!

The fans roared, knowing this was probably the end for Nanami, but this time Monroe made the save! Mifune ran in and blasted Monroe with a dropkick, sending him from the ring. Then he and Yoshida sent Nanami into the ropes, Yoshida hitting him with a swinging neckbreaker, and Mifune following up with a slingshot elbow for 2!

Yoshida made the official tag, leaving as Mifune applied a rear waistlock on Nanami, then nailed him with a German suplex, rolling through into a kneebar! MIFUNE SPECIAL! Nanami was screaming in pain, looking for an escape, and made it to the ropes! Mifune climbed to his feet, dragging Nanami up and yelling "DRILL A FUCKING HOLE!". He pulled Nanami into position for his cradle piledriver, but Monroe charged in, blasting him with a forearm to the back and breaking up the hold!

Nanami took advantage of this, hitting Mifune with a huracanrana for 2 1/2! Both Mifune and Nanami were slow to rise, but Nanami struck out of nowhere with another shotei, sending Mifune crashing to the mat like a felled tree! Now it was Nanami's turn to yell out - "BLINDING DRIVER!" - and he lifted Mifune up over his shoulder. Mifune fought out of it though, falling onto his feet behind Nanami. Mifune turned and charged the ropes, rebounding with a lariat. But Nanami ducked it Matrix-style, before hitting a back thrust kick and then a spinning facejam legdrop, for 2 3/4! SO CLOSE!

Both men were slow to rise, but this time it was Mifune striking out of nowhere, blasting Nanami with a step up enzuigiri! Both men stayed down, as Monroe and Yoshida came back into the fray, Monroe ducking a punch and lifting Yoshida with a backdrop suplex! But Yoshida landed on his feet, then decked Monroe with a spin kick! Yoshida ran the ropes, but out of nowhere Nanami decked him with a running bulldog, covering for 2, with Mifune making the save!

Yoshida and Monroe rolled from the ring, continuing their fight, as Nanami climbed to the top rope. But outside the ring, Yoshida moved out of the way of a charging Monroe, who hit the ringpost, then Yoshida climbed up onto the apron, stopping Nanami and causing him to fall into a seated position, facing out of the ring. Monroe dragged Yoshida back down off the apron, as Mifune climbed the corner, hooking on a rear waistlock. The fans "ooohhhh"ed as they hoped for a top rope Mifune Special, but Nanami elbowed his way out of the hold, sending Mifune back to the mat.

Mifune rose slowly, as Nanami rebalanced up top, then came off with a big missile dropkick! He covered... 2 3/4! OOOHHH!! Nanami dragged Mifune up and sent him into the ropes, but Mifune grabbed the ropes to stop from rebounding. Nanami charged, but suddenly Yoshida came slingshotting in with a lariat! Mifune dragged Nanami up... DRILL A HOLE PILEDRIVER! 1-2- NO! Save by Monroe!

Monroe charged at Yoshida, who backdropped him heavily out to the floor! Nanami was back up on his feet, all groggy, as Yoshida and Mifune lined him up... middle kick/enzuigiri combo! Nanami stayed up, in a daze... Mifune off the rops... SPINNING BACKFIST! The force sent Nanami staggering into Yoshida's grasp, and Yoshida scooped him up and over... PSYBORG DRIVER! 1! 2! 3!

The crowd applauded loudly as Yoshida rolled out of the cover in an exhausted state. He rolled onto his knees, as Mifune dropped down and gave him a big hug, Kamen Kanoji hurrying into the ring to congratulate his teammates!

Commissioner Kazushima Yakamotu climbed into the ring to present Yoshida and Mifune with the Dream World Tag League trophy and individual plaques, while ring girls presented them with flowers. Exhausted but happy, Yoshida and Mifune accepted their rewards, then began to pose for the ringside photographers along with Kanoji. But suddenly Tate Monroe was back in the ring, his Independent title belt slung over one shoulder. He pushed past Yakamotu and got in the face of Yoshida, as the fans screamed in excitement and anticipation!

Yakamotu yelled for the wrestlers at ringside to intervene, and Monroe was hauled from the ring. He glared defiantly at Yoshida, yelling "you're still not the champion". Yoshida called for a microphone, calmly telling Monroe that after tonight's result, he could no longer avoid the inevitable. He said that Monroe had turned down his Independent title challenge once, but he couldn't keep running. Yoshida then turned to Yakamotu and asked that he sanction the match, to which Yakamotu said he would think about it.

Winners: Yoshida/Mifune
Time Of Match: 22'07"

Overall comments:

- The Yoshida-Monroe rivalry still has yet to be settled, but the slight edge now goes to Yoshida and his Special X team after tonight's Dream World Tag League final. The final was a great match which could have gone either way, and it gave a sneak preview of what we might expect if the Monroe-Yoshida title match ever happens.

- On the whole this tour has been a success, as it has been great to see so many tagteam matches in Dream Fujin. Trios matches are more common here, so a tagteam league was a nice change of pace. However, the tour was very long, and some of the match quality suffered because of that. All of the wrestlers will be looking forward to having a week or so off before the next tour starts.

- The glory of the Dream World Tag League belongs to Special X, but the Monroe-Nanami team also deserves a lot of accolades. Remember, the team was originally Tate Monroe and Tyrone Walker, but Walker was injured in a training accident, so Nanami took his place part-way through the tournament. It turns out that this was exactly what the team needed, as an amazing transformation took place. Whereas Monroe-Walker wasn't very successful, Monroe-Nanami stormed into a play-off and then surprised everyone by making the final. It's as if Walker getting injured couldn't have worked out better if it was planned.
