Dream Fujin
Friday August 18
Sapporo Teisen Hall
1500 fans (sellout)

The "Legendary of Future" tour kicked off tonight in front of a good-sized crowd at the Teisen Hall, in Dream Fujin's hometown of Sapporo.

--------------------------------------------------

Match One:
Super Darkness Panda vs Ham Fighter Kimoto

And off we go with the comedy. SDP has been in serious mode most of the time since joining 666 a few tours back, but here he was able to let loose and make a return to goofy Panda. Opposing him was the walking tribute to the Sapporo-based Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters baseball team, Ham Fighter Kimoto, and his constant companion, the Fighters mascot, Brisky the Bear (http://www.fighters.co.jp/bb/diary/2006photo/060506-2_b.jpg).

Most of the comedy was between Panda and Brisky, the two furry bear guys. The crowd cheered for everything Brisky did, and seemed to enjoy the comedy, even though it wasn't too funny at times.

Kimoto looked to have the match won when he nailed a baseball slide dropkick into Panda, who was hanging in the tree of woe, then set up for the Home Run (a double swinging fist strike to the chest). But Panda slid from the ring and grabbed a chair. Referee Uncle Dai warned Panda not to use it, but he ignored the warning, waffling Kimoto. This drew an immediate disqualification and lots of jeers from the crowd.

To the amazement of everyone, Brisky the Bear then got into the ring and lariated Panda flat! With the crowd "oooohhhh"ing in disbelief, Brisky then climbed to the top and hit SDP with an amazing moonsault! If you don't think that's amazing, check out the photo of Brisky again.

Panda was left licking his wounds as Brisky and Ham Fighter Kimoto celebrated in the ring.

Winner: Ham Fighter Kimoto (DQ)
Time Of Match: 7'21"

Match Two - James Relaunch:
Griffin James vs Steel Cougar

This was the first match in a series that commissioner Kazushima Yakamotu has ordered Griffin James to compete in, where he will fight a different wrestler each night, starting at the bottom of the rankings ladder and moving up.

First up was the rookie Steel Cougar, another wrestler with a furry mask (http://www.geocities.com/dreamfujin/Cougar.html), who has yet to show any real potential since graduating from the Fujin Dojo.

James' look had changed slightly since the last tour, the white bits of his ring outfit replaced by red. He wore black, long, loose fitting wrestling pants with a bold red stripe down both legs, and a black singlet with red trim and a stylized "R" on the stomach. His "WAR" gloves were now all black and he wore a black jacket mostly reminscent of the shirts Japanese deliquent kids wear open at high school. To top it all off, he carried the now-familiar black "Fujingun" flag, drawing a HUGE POP from the crowd!

One word summed up the Fujingun General's mood and style in this match... STIFF. Reminiscent of old school "rookie stiffing", this match was brutal. James was full of focus and looked genuinely pissed off, bludgeoning Steel Cougar from the opening bell and not letting up until Cougar was beaten into submission. Cougar tried to come back a couple of times, but James was having none of it.

Surprisingly, James didn't throw as many elbows as he usually does, preferring kicks and other moves like hard lariats and suplexes to wear Cougar down. He did throw a sickening Roaring Elbow late in the match, and just about took Cougar's head off with a Yakuza kick, before spiking him with the Jamestown Massacre, only this time there was no delay between spike and pin, making the move more fluid. Needless to say, it got the 3-count.

Winner: Griffin James
Time of Match: 6'26"

Match Three
HiLite Kid[ILL] & Michelle Bailey
vs
Wasai Thrillblade & Apollo Kid III

This was the Dream Fujin debut of "Platinum Princess" Michelle Bailey, who came to the ring wearing a tight-fitting top and a loose-fitting black mini-skirt, along with black kneepads and black shinpads over black wrestling shoes. With her long, platinum-blonde hair, Bailey had become something of a Gwen Stefani lookalike since her previous stints in Japan with NOP and Oita Pro. And yes, for those who don't know, Michelle Bailey is a man who thinks he's a woman, just to get that clear.

Also making his first appearance in a Dream Fujin ring in Japan (he appeared on the tour in Mexico) was the HiLite Kid, the American who formerly wrestled as El Fuego Mascara in the second version of the HiLite Express towards the end of River City Wrestling's second run.

MEGA Gurentai members Thrillblade and Apollo Kid greeted the newcomers with their usual brand of rudo dickishness, attacking as they entered the ring and using lots of illegal tactics. Bailey was in the mood to impress the crowd, showing off a varied moveset, including a nice springboard plancha, the Britney Spear (a basic spear) and the Love Angel (a high-speed crucifix, which almost got the pin on Apollo Kid).

HiLite Kid's offence was basic and he definitely seemed to be struggling with the change of styles. He ended up taking the fall, after being nailed with a sitout powerbomb by Thrillblade.

Winners: Thrillblade/Apollo Kid
Time Of Match: 11'42"

Match Four - DreamGirl showcase:
Miori Shonjo vs Star Kandori

This match marked a moment in Dream Fujin history - the very first joshi (woman's) match ever held in a Dream Fujin ring.

Kandori came out first, wearing a basic yellow outfit with tassles on the knees and elbows. She had short brown hair and smiled a lot, slapping hands with the fans. Next out was Shonjo, the younger sister of DF wrestler Kyuki Shonjo. She also had short brown hair, and wore dark blue trunks that cut off midway between the hip and the thigh, and a blue and white sports bra-type top, which was open on the cleavage but had an attached collar around the neck. Unlike Kandori, Shonjo's expression was serious and full of concentration.

The opening minutes of the match were slow and methodical, as the girls got used to being in the ring and got comfortable with each other. Once the pace picked up, Shonjo definitely showed herself to be the better of the two. Her style was all-round and basic, throwing in a few suplexes on top of dropkicks and chops, and a nice tornado DDT that almost got the pin. Kandori was at her best when she was selling for Shonjo - when she had to take over on offence she seemed hesitant and disorganised.

Shonjo saved the best for last, finishing Kandori off with a reverse superplex, and the 3-count got a nice ovation from a crowd which had been mostly silent for the rest of the match.

Winner: Miori Shonjo
Time Of Match: 12'07"

Match Five:
Darkness Kitty!, MIURA & Shadows
vs
Hasselhoff SE, Ultraman Zeta & Ketsu Tonaga

The evil forces of 666 faced off against three of the younger members of the Fujingun army, who surprised everyone by attacking the rudos before the bell and taking the fight right to them. After a brief brawl in and around the ring, things settled down.

The usual pair-offs took place, the best of them between Tonaga and Kitty!, the young rookie showing plenty of fire and determination against the 666 leader. However, things started to go bad for the Fujingun rookies when 666 isolated Zeta for a series of corner charges, then hit him with a nice tripleteam move - MIURA dropping him with a spinebuster and Kitty! and Shadows then hitting dropkicks to either side of his masked face.

The tecnicos made a comeback, almost pulling off the win when Hasselhoff trapped Shadows in a sleeperhold and his teammates kept the rest of 666 at bay, but eventually MIURA was able to get in and make the save. The end came when Kitty! dropped Zeta with the Darkness Bomber.

Winners: 666
Time Of Match: 9'05"

--------------------------------------------------

Match Six:
Ryoga Miike & Kyuki Shonjo
vs
British Steel & Maiden Japan

The Metal Gods, who impressed a lot of people with their efforts in the recent Dream World Tag League, faced off against another two members of Fujingun, Ryoga Miike (the former Crazy Bastard Cop) and Kyuki Shonjo.

Sadly this match was sloppy and lacking in excitement. Miike got the pin on Maiden Japan when he hit the Lazarus Suplex, a rolling German into a half nelson suplex.

Winners: Miike/Shonjo
Time Of Match: 11'05"

MAIN EVENT - non-title:
Tate Monroe, Yoshino Nanami & HERO Ishikawa
vs
Usagi Yoshida, Ryoji Mifune & Kamen Kanoji

This match was filled with all kinds of intrigue. The main factor was the unbridled hatred Tate Monroe and Usagi Yoshida have displayed for each other in recent months, and of course the fact that they'll face off for Monroe's Independent title later in the tour. Add to that the fact that Monroe and Nanami are still hurting from their loss to Yoshida and Mifune in the Dream World Tag League final, and there was mucho bad feelings.

Also of interest was the make up of Monroe's team. Whereas Special X are an established trios team (and Trinity X champions), Monroe and his buddy Nanami were teaming with an unlikely partner in MEGA Gurentai leader HERO Ishikawa.

It was obvious to everyone that Ishikawa and Monroe were not happy about teaming together, but that tension never led to any real problems until the end. Monroe was focused on Yoshida, and vice versa, the fans hungry to see any kind of confrontation between the top two men in the company.

Kanoji and Monroe started, Kanoji hitting a cross bodyblock, then striking a ridiculous pose, which was a mistake. Monroe planted him with a belly to belly throw, then tagged in Nanami. Nanami hit Kanoji with an elbowdrop, then tagged in Ishikawa, who hit Kanoji with a running lariat, then threw the masked loverboy back into his own corner, taunting Yoshida to enter.

Ishikawa kept on urging Yoshida to enter, then turned and flipped the bird at Monroe, showing that he didn't care if Monroe wanted Yoshida first! Yoshida stepped in, trading chops with Ishikawa. Yoshida sidestepped a dropkick, but was taken down witha huracanrana which only got a 1 count. Yoshida came back with a middle kick and neckbreaker drop.

Monroe tagged in, drawing a huge pop as he faced off against Yoshida. They traded punches for a while, before Yoshida flipped out of a German suplex and hit a dropkick. Monroe stayed on his feet though, and dumped Yoshida with a Northern Lights suplex for 2.

Nanami tagged in, hitting Yoshida with a flurry of kicks, then going for his running shotei. Yoshida ducked it and went for a lariat, but Nanami did his Matrix float-under, then hit a back thrust kick and a spinning facejam legdrop. Nanami applied a seat adominal stretch on Yoshida, as Ishikawa came in and stomped away at his face.

Monroe tagged back in, he and Ishikawa doubleteaming Yoshida with a suplex-Quebrada combo that got 2. Kanoji tagged in, hitting Monroe with a springboard dropkick, then a top rope legdrop for 2. Kanoji then hit the champ with a bodyslam and tagged in Mifune.

Mifune blasted Monroe with a flurry of elbows and palm strikes, then a backdrop suplex for 2. He set up for a German suplex, possibly going for the Mifune Special, but Monroe did a standing switch, then hit a Dragon suplex for 2 1/2.

Both men stayed down, Mifune the first to make the tag to Yoshida. Yoshida came in and applied the crotch claw on Monroe, drawing a loud "OOHHHH" from the crowd and a warning from Uncle Dai. He then dropped Monroe with a slingshot brainbuster for 2. Yoshida locked on the Psyence Facelock, but Monroe made the ropes.

Mifune tagged in, and suddenly it was all on - a big brawl!

Nanami hit Mifune with a step up enzuigiri as Yoshida and Monroe brawled on the floor. Nanami and Ishikawa combined to hit Mifune with an assisted corner lariat then a DDT. Monroe came in and locked Mifune in a jujigatame, Yoshida making the save.

Monroe tagged Nanami back in, and he hit Mifune with a missile dropkick for 2. He tagged Ishikawa back in, but Mifune suddenly made a comeback, hitting HERO with a spinning backfirst and a backdrop suplex for 2.

The tag was made to Kanoji, who hit a hooking clothesline on Ishikawa, then did a little dance before hitting a legdrop for 2. Ishikawa came back, countering a top rope cross body by dropkicking Kanoji out of the air.

Monroe tagged in and hit Kanoji with a Russian legsweep, floating into a neck submission, Mifune making the save. Monroe then nailed Kanoji with a powerbomb, before tagging Ishikawa back in, HERO hitting DA FISTDROP~!

Ishikawa did a bit of showboating when he should have covered Kanoji, because Monroe tagged himself back in. Ishikawa was pissed, but Monroe ignored him as he set up Kanoji for the Textbook Finish. Mifune ran in to break it up though, and this allowed Kanoji to hit a superkick. He went up top, looking to hit the Love, Japanese Style (a corkscrew dive into a swinging DDT), but Nanami crotched him.

Another big brawl then broke out, spilling out to the floor. Nanami dived onto everyone with a plancha, then Kanoji followed suit with a corkscrew plancha.

Mifune and Monroe made their way back into the ring, where Mifune hit a brainbuster for 2. He went for the Drill A Hole Piledriver, but Monroe countered by lifting him and drilling him with a Death Valley Driver for 2.

Yoshida came back in, hitting Monroe with a lariat, but before he could follow up, Ishikawa took him out of the ring. Ishikawa and Nanami then sent Mifune into a corner, Nanami whipping Ishikawa in. But Mifune sidestepped and then hit Nanami with a running elbow, before drilling Ishikawa with his leaping triangle hold (done almost like a rana, except Mifune intentionally fell to his back while trapping the arm and cinching in the choke). Nanami dived to make the save.

Ishikawa and Nanami dumped Kanoji out of the ring, the masked loverboy landing on Yoshida. They turned their attention to Mifune, but the former shootwrestler sent Nanami from the ring with a lariat, then ducked an Ishikawa lariat... which blasted Monroe, sending him from the ring!

It was just Mifune and Ishikawa left in the ring, and Mifune ducked a punch, then hit a spinning backfist, before spiking HERO with his Drill a Hole Piledriver for the 3-count.

After the match, Ishikawa's MEGA Gurentai buddies, Wasai Thrillblade and Apollo Kid III, hit the ring with baseball bats and attacked Special X! Ishikawa slowly recovered enough to join in the beatdown, as Monroe and Nanami simply walked away.

Ishikawa got on the microphone and said that MEGA Gurentai were hereby accepting Special X's open challenge for the Trinity X titles!

Winners: Special X
Time Of Match: 19'42"

Overall comments:

- This show was notable for several debuts. The biggest was the debut of joshi wrestling in Dream Fujin, while Michelle Bailey and HiLite Kid also debuted.

- It looks like the next Trinity X title match will be between Special X and MEGA Gurentai. How will this affect Usagi Yoshida's challenge for the Independent title? Can he fully concentrate on two big title matches in one tour?

- Tomorrow night's show will be at Kyoto's KBS Hall. The partial line-up is as follows:

1. British Steel & Maiden Japan vs Shigeo Hotta[FREE] & Kohei Aoki[FREE]
2. Michelle Bailey, Ryoji Mifune & HiLite Kid[ILL] vs Shadows, Apollo Kid III & Party Animal Delta
3. Shirouto Cup: Ketsu Tonaga © vs Kyuki Shonjo
4. Tommy Kamoura & Steel Cougar vs Hasselhoff SE & Ryoga Miike
5. James Relaunch: Griffin James vs Ultraman Zeta
6. Tate Monroe & Yoshino Nanami vs Darkness Kitty! & MIURA
7. Usagi Yoshida & Kamen Kanoji vs HERO Ishikawa & Wasai Thrillblade
