News Central Tuesday August 29 ================= # While not much is yet known about the successor to Dream Fujin, Ring of Fire Wrestling, news has filtered through about the new company striking television deals in several countries. According to several reports, Ring of Fire Wrestling programming will be broadcast in the following countries: United States - pre-recorded coverage on TNT. Mexico - highlights show on TV Azteca. Japan - pre-recorded coverage on Samurai TV. Australia - pre-recorded coverage on Channel Ten New Zealand - highlights show on Sky Sport 3 Canada - pre-recorded coverage on Global Television Network Indications are that regular RoFW shows will be filmed for television with the commentary team of Larry Van Keel and Rick Perle (the announce team for the now-defunct River City Wrestling promotion for many years), with new commentary dubbed over for broadcasting in non-English speaking countries. # Rumour has it that the Ring of Fire promoters are a little nervous about the drawing power of their first show, "Rebirth in Fire", scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Friday, September 8. They are worried that while many of the wrestlers scheduled to appear on the first show - in particular the main event of Griffin James vs Darkness Kitty! - are well known in Japan, they aren't big drawcards in the US. As a result, another rumour has been doing the rounds, that a big-name hometown star will be making a surprise appearance on the show. Word is that this rumour was in fact leaked by Ring of Fire officials to try and encourage a bigger walk-up crowd on the night. # Mexico City newspaper Reforma is reporting that Arena Mexico officials have been approached by Ring of Fire personnel, who inquired about hiring the historic home of lucha libre in the near future. © Ring of Fire Productions, 2006 |
