Alamo Championship Wrestling Week of May 11th, 2007 ---------------------- The syndicated show started off with new theme music, as Tom Cochrane and Red Rider's "Lunatic Fringe" played over recent footage of ACW action, leading into the ACW Arena where Keith Marshall and "Hollywood" Cody Jones set up the main event of the night, as Genya Okutsu was set to defend the ACW Southwest Championship in a rematch against the masked Bullet. Okutsu and his wife, Keiko Shimoda, came out to the ring for a promo, during which a deliveryman presented a bouquet of flowers to Shimoda. Clearly not from the champion however, who threw the flowers into the crowd. Other matches on the show included a singles match between Adam Drake and "Slick" Ricky Reno as a preview to the tag team showdown that weekend between Southwest Tag Champions No Fat Chicks and St. George & The Dragon, in which Drake scored the small package win on Reno... And Dick Hackenschmidt picked up a victory over Grady Mitchell with a trio of piledrivers before covering him, leaving Mitchell to be stretchered out. Between the second and third matches, a backstage interview with the four members of We 4 Girls aired as "Main Event" Megan Affleck vowed to pay Southwest Women's Champion Kiora Donovan back for nailing her in the head with the belt at the last Saturday show. Donovan burst into the locker room and had a staredown with Affleck, neither woman saying a word as we went to break. The main event match saw Genya defend the championship successfully, thanks once again to interference from Hackenschmidt who returned during the course of the match and caught Bullet during a headfirst tope to the outside, swung him around and cracked his skull into the ringpost all as Okutsu distracted the referee. He threw Bullet back into the ring for the lazy cover by Genya, and postmatch Dick attempted to piledriver Bullet only to be run off by members of the locker room including a furious Grady Mitchell, his head bandaged from the match earlier in the show. -- The following night at the ACW Arena, we opened with another address from the owner of the promotion, "Hellraiser" Tom Landis. He ran down what would be on tap for the night, including the big tag title match and set up an impromptu four corners match for the Southwest Heavyweight Championship between Genya Okutsu, Bullet, Dick Hackenschmidt and Grady Mitchell. Genya stormed down to the ring and protested the decision, but Landis refused to back down and told the champion "Let's see how you do when your big burly bodyguard has every reason to beat your ass down too." A women's tag team contest was held between two members of W4G, "Main Event" Megan Affleck and "Fearless" Fiona Cassidy, against the Southwest Women's Champ Kiora Donovan and Rosalee Perez. The unlikely partners held their own fairly well throughout the match, but eventually fell victim to a double submission tapout when Affleck locked Donovan in a triangle choke while Cassidy caught Perez in a hangman's neckbreaker. A singles match featured Ryan Goodman dismantling Bobby Nash in a little over a minute, interrupting poor Nash as he tried to name himself the uncrowned Southwest Champion. Following the match Goodman got a laugh from the crowd when he got on the mic and told Nash "There, you've just been crowned, champ." The West Coast Wild Boyz squared off with Hellhound and Overkill in tag team competition next, and believe it or not it was the underdogs who scored the surprise victory when Hellhound shoved Hunter off the top rope to the outside and left Jordan on the receiving end of a Total Elimination! Keiko Shimoda battled "The Hot Chick" Taryn Weller next, and during the match the same deliveryman from the night before showed up to give Keiko another bouquet of flowers. It caused her to get rolled up from behind for the three count however, flustering her and drawing Okutsu out from the back to berate his wife. Intermission followed, and all four members of W4G came out to sign autographs and pose for pictures. After the break we were treated to the Southwest Tag Team Championship match, and No Fat Chicks managed to squeak by one more time with the championship gold in their clutches thanks to a fan in the crowd wearing a ski mask, who ran into the ring and blasted James St. George in the face with a pair of brass knuckles. After the match, Landis returned to the ring and announced a rematch for the titles in two weeks time... but this time, inside the confines of a 25 foot high steel cage! David Brewer defeated Zero-G in the next match with a lung blower, during which Stephen Edge watched from the entrance and taunted Zero-G nonstop throughout the match. Once Brewer left, Edge came down to the ring only to be surprised by a huracanrana over the ropes, G managing to run his nemesis off for once. And in the main event, a new Southwest Champion was crowned as Bullet stunned the audience when he scored a pinfall over the champion! The masked man hit a huge shooting star press after Genya himself took three piledrivers from Hackenschmidt, while Mitchell threw Dick to the outside to prevent him from getting the pin. The crowd celebrated wildly afterwards, as Bullet took the title and celebrated in the middle of the audience. |
