Alamo Championship Wrestling Week of May 25th, 2007 ---------------------- "Lunatic Fringe" opened the show again, highlights of Bullet's winning the championship playing and right into the new champ standing in the middle of the ring. Bullet told the crowd that he would be a fighting champion, and wouldn't back down from anyone in defending the title. It didn't take long to get a challenge thrown out, as ex-champion Genya Okutsu stormed the ring and demanded a rematch right then and there. "Hollywood" Cody Jones got up from his position at ringside and informed both men that while Tom Landis wouldn't be here tonight, he had spoken to him by cell phone and was given the power to make the matches tonight. We had a bell sound, and the match indeed began. And like all of their previous encouters, Bullet ran circles around Genya and outpaced him to the delight of the crowd. In the middle of the match, Keiko's secret admirer once again made his feelings known but this time in the form of a string quartet serenading the lovely Miss Shimoda. As focused as he was on regaining the title, Genya was distracted by the attention towards his wife and as a result Bullet caught him with a superkick to the jaw for the pin. After the match, Jones got up and addressed Bullet again, informing him that he would have a mystery opponent the following night at the Saturday show. On next was a women's match, as Jones put it "Who doesn't want to see two of our sexy female wrestlers shake their things inside the ring?" "Superstar" Shauna Duncan of We 4 Girls took on "Spitfire" Kyra Braddock in what was supposed to be a sportsmanlike contest, but opened the match with a sucker punch to Shauna, catching her by surprise. Showing a much more ruthless demeanor than her first outing, Kyra attempted to throttle Duncan and finished her off with a lung blower from the middle turnbuckle as Shauna tried for a moonsault. And in the main event of the syndicated show, Grady Mitchell took on the Southwest Tag Team Champions in a handicap match and held his own for much of it, before finally succumbing to the Fat Chick Rippah from NFC. Reno and Richards looked to make a statement with Grady before their cage match opponents, St. George & the Dragon, came out for the save. The show ended with Cody ruling that nobody on the active roster could interfere in tomorrow's cage match or they would be suspended indefinitely. -- In what would turn out to be one of the biggest Saturday shows in Alamo Championship Wrestling's brief history so far, "Hollywood" Cody Jones appeared at the beginning of the show in taking the place of Tom Landis, who once again was not in attendence. Jones announced to the crowd that he was with his wife Tara, who'd just hours earlier given birth to their first child, an 8 pound 7 ounce girl named Chelsea Diana Landis. The crowd celebrated this news, but quickly began to boo as Genya Okutsu came down to the ring in what's becoming a tradition to demand that Jones make him the mystery opponent to Bullet in the main event. Jones refused to do so, and told Genya the crowd was "getting sick of seeing you open shows week after week like this". As a result, Okutsu earned himself not a rematch for the belt, but a match against Ryan Goodman! The first contest saw the Saturday Night Express take on Stephen Edge and "Doctor of Destruction" David Brewer, but the match went to a no-contest when Zero-G interrupted and for the first time in his rivalry with Edge, attacked him first. Brewer, his match already having been ruined, left his partner, while the SNE waited until G's back was turned and then assaulted him, trying to make the statement they couldn't with the match ruined. A Saturday Night Double Feature left Zero-G lying right next to Edge, ironically. Rosalee Perez faced off with Kyra Braddock next, and just like the match a night earlier Braddock nailed her opponent with a punch and showed nothing but disdain as she tried to dismantle her. The hometown girl managed to apply the Perez Stretch on Braddock, but Kyra fought to the ropes and scored a victory with a heart punch soon after. Hellhound defeated "Big City Nightz" Jason Jordan in a battle of tag team wrestlers, and again the underdog came away just as they had in the tag match two weeks prior. Jordan flipped out after the match and threw a chair dangerously close to the crowd, before his partner calmed him down and led him backstage. In the last match before intermission, Kiora Donovan defended her Southwest Women's Title against a member of We 4 Girls, "The Hot Chick" Taryn Weller, and picked up a victory against Weller when an all-out brawl at ringside led to total chaos. Weller was accompanied by Megan Affleck, and during the match Rosalee Perez came out to supposedly even the odds, even though Affleck hadn't interfered in the match. This brought out Kyra Braddock next, followed by Shauna Duncan and Fiona Cassidy finally. Pretty soon everyone began to brawl with everyone else, and somewhere in the middle of things Donovan scored a pinfall on Weller. The cage was assembled during intermission, and almost from start to finish the crowd was on its' collective feet. Adam Drake and James St. George climbed the cage to enter the ring while the champs strolled through the doors, and what resulted was an up-tempo match that saw several near finishes and near escapes from the cage. Reno made it all the way out to the floor but as the rules stated both partners had to escape, which left Richards open to double teaming from the challengers. Reno's attempt to re-enter the cage was thwarted several times as they slapped his grip as he tried to climb. The same (one would assume) masked fan that appeared last week to help the NFC jumped out of the crowd again, and he and Reno began to climb the cage together. Drake cut off the masked man which allowed Reno back in, evening things back up again. St. George at one pointed tried to leave the cage through the door and had it smashed into his skull fiercely before security finally showed up to subdue the fan, but he escaped through the crowd. NFC didn't fare as well though, as thanks to a Dragonfire from the very top of the cage from Drake it was the challengers who eventually scored the pinfall and finally took the Southwest Tag Team Titles from No Fat Chicks! For the second time in a week the crowd celebrated a title change with reckless abandon, and the proud new champions sat atop the cage with the belts held high as NFC crawled out, defeated. As the cage was being disassembled, Dick Hackenschmidt fought Grady Mitchell to a countout when the match between the two spilled out to the floor and beyond. Security pulled the two apart, but not before both men had busted the other one open with pieces of the steel cage frame. Another short break resulted here as order was restored, but it was announced by ring announcer Ron O'Haire that two weeks from tonight it would be Hackenschmidt and Mitchell one on one in a San Antonio Stretfight. Genya came out next by himself, bitching on the microphone how nothing was going his way and that this past two weeks were the worst of his life. Having lost his championship was bad enough, but now someone was pursuing his wife, Keiko, as well. Okutsu put his foot down, literally, demanding for all the wrongs to be righted. And at this point, Ryan Goodman came down to the ring and made short work of Okutsu, finishing him off with a short-arm clothesline followed by a uranage slam, continuing his hot streak. Post-match Keiko came down to the ring to help her husband, carrying a stuffed teddy bear in her arms. When Genya came to he became enraged at the sight of the bear, demanding to know where it came from before tossing it into the crowd and grabbing his wife by the wrist, dragging her backstage. Main event time, as Bullet came down to the ring with the title for his mystery challenge, and as he waited and watched the entranceway the masked man who'd earlier tried to help No Fat Chicks leapt the barrier once again and levelled Bullet from behind with a huge clothesline! To the complete and total shock of the crowd, the man removed his mask to reveal his identity... None other than "Hollywood" Cody Jones himself! The Overload colour commentator told the referee to ring the bell and start the match, during which Bullet put up a brave fight and fought back from the edge several times. But the element of surprise kept the fan favorite from really regaining his momentum in the match, especially when NFC returned from the locker rooms in street clothes and began to interfere in the match. At a critical juncture in the match Bullet catapulted Jones over the ropes to the floor, and Reno distracted the official while Romeo took a somersault plancha dive. This let Hollywood take out Bullet with another clothesline to the back of the head, and after ramming him headfirst into the steps Jones brought the match back into the ring and drove Bullet into the mat with a package piledriver! A three count later, and ACW crowned it's second Southwest Heavyweight Champion in two weeks, all to the utter disbelief of the crowd. Garbage began to rain down on the ring as No Fat Chicks joined a triumphant Jones in the ring, holding the championship belt over his head as a shellshocked Bullet was helped to the back. Jones grabbed the mic one last time for the night and introduced the audience to "The Players Club", before the trio left the ring. |
