Alamo Championship Wrestling
Week of June 8th, 2007
----------------------
Overload started with a highlights package of two weeks earlier with
the
formation of the Player's Club and the astonishing title victory of
"Hollywood" Cody Jones over Bullet. As soon as it ended we cutaway to
the ring, with the very same Players Club coming down to the ring to
celebrate the ruse they pulled off in getting "Hollywood" Cody Jones
the
ACW championship belt. No Fat Chicks member "Slick" Ricky Reno stated
that losing the tag straps to a pair of inferior halfwits hurt, but not
to worry because the PC has a championship pedigree and it won't be
very
long before they hold all the gold once again. Richards spent most of
the interview hitting on a particularly gorgeous woman at ringside and
didn't have too much to say. Jones got on the microphone and thanked
all
the ACW fans for being so 'utterly clueless' that it was a breeze to
pull
off his master plan. Cody went on to explain that when he first tried
to
get hired by ACW, he was told that they weren't interested in any
wrestlers with longterm 'medical issues' but that he had a gift for gab
and would make a fine commentator. So he decided on the spot that he'd
play the promotion's game and bide his time until he could truly make
an
impact and rocket himself right to the top of ACW. He goes on to thank
Tom Landis for playing the ultimate patsy for him and letting him set
the
master plan in motion by giving him control while he was away, and with
the crowd already looking for his blood he even thanks Tom's wife Tara
"Sunburst" Marshall for "spreading her legs one more time" and
delivering
his big chance along with their new daughter. At this point Landis
came
charging down to the ring with a steel chair in hand and quickly
cleared
the ring of the Player's Club. And to break we go.

Coming back, Tom grabbed the house mic and addressed the crowd as well
as
the PC who had reconvened by the entrance. Landis revealed that he
never
spoke to Jones or gave him the power to make the matches two weeks ago,
but what's done is done and he won't strip Jones of the championship.
At
this point Cody breathed a sigh of relief, but Tom told him not to get
too comfortable, because "it's a lot harder to keep that ten pounds of
gold than it is to win it". Tom added that if Jones ever spoke about
his
wife that way again, retirement or no retirement he'd "kick the Vine
right out of Hollywood." Landis then announced that the rumors were
true, that he'd been speaking to some old friends, and Alamo
Championship
Wrestling will get represented at the UWF's Gold Rush X pay-per-view!
A
special ACW Showcase Six Man Tag Team Match, with wrestlers to be
determined... TONIGHT!

A promo aired for ACW's involvement at Gold Rush X, and afterwards we
got
some words with the current Southest Women's Champion, Kiora Donovan.
In
a nutshell Kiora said she had no friends and didn't need any, unlike
Megan Affleck of We 4 Girls. Donovan bragged that she'd already torn
through the best of the women's division, and that her domination would
continue unabated. We then went back to the ring where Affleck was
entering the arena to face Keiko Shimoda. Shimoda was no match for the
athletic W4G team captain, losing after a few minutes to the Broken
Ceiling, a running Yakuza Kick to the face. Kiora Donovan came down
after the match and a pull-apart by her and Affleck was broken up by
the
rest of W4G and the referees.

After coming back again from the break, Keith Marshall who had been
doing
solo duty in the announce booth all night was joined by Tom Landis for
guest commentary. Landis set up the next match, which featured all of
the male talent in ACW in a progressive battle royal match with a
chance
to be one of two team captains for the Gold Rush X match. The final
two
wrestlers in the match would be named the captains for the match, with
the winner of the match having the opportunity to name his teammates
before his opponent.

We started out with one half of the Southwest Tag Team Champions, James
St. George, squaring off against Dick Hackenschmidt. The two traded
punches and soon were joined by a few more brawlers in Grady Mitchell
and
David Brewer. The crowd went nuts as Ryan Goodman came out soon
afterwards and cleared the whole field, using his huge size to make
short
work of everyone else. The Southwest Champ himself, Cody Jones, was
next
to enter the ring and glared back at Landis before stepping into the
ring
to challenge the monster. Goodman throttled Jones for the next couple
of
minutes but Cody proved tougher to eliminate than expected, hanging on
for dear life on every attempted toss. Help soon arrived in the form
of
his stablemate "Romeo" Matt Richards, and the Players Club teammates
managed to save one another on several occasions especially as the ring
began to fill up once again. Goodman's size couldn't protect him
against
an eventual ousting by six other men including Hollywood and Romeo,
Adam
Drake, the Saturday Night Express and Jason Jordan of the West Coast
Wild
Boyz. The final commercial break was taken here, and after the show
returned Keith Marshall informed the viewers that the final member of
the
Player's Club, Reno, had entered the match and the PC was now beginning
to clear the ring by sheer numbers.

That was until Bullet, the former champion and a longshot in this sort
of
match considering his stature went straight after Hollywood, and the
crowd exploded for the masked man. By now, both members of No Fat
Chicks
were in the ring to try and protect the champion, but Bullet's fury
proved to be the undoing of the Player's Club in the match as he first
eliminated Ricky Reno with an amazing huracanrana over the top rope
while
managing to land on the outside apron and save himself, and then in the
biggest shock of the night Jones was sent packing thanks to a well
timed
overhead hiptoss. Cody Jones freaked out at ringside and had to be
restrained by the other referees, and Bullet pointed to the champion
and
drew his thumb across his throat. In the end, the final four came down
to Bullet, Adam Drake, Genya Okutsu and Romeo Richards. Bullet and
Richards paired off on one side of the ring as Genya and Drake did
likewise on the other side, each trying to furiously throw the other
one
out.

An irish whip by Romeo sent Bullet across the ring and he bounced right
into Genya and Drake, and the former Southwest Champion used it to his
advantage by upending his old nemesis Okutsu and knocking him out to
the
floor! Bullet and Adam regrouped and went after Romeo next, the two
against one advantage putting the NFC member on the brink of
elimination
as Drake lifted Richards up with a suplex as Bullet went to the top
rope
for a missile dropkick. Unfortunately the momentum of the move sent
Romeo to the outside apron and with a split second reversal of the
suplex
he pulled Drake out to the floor with a hard thud. Richards and Bullet
wound up the final two participants in the match, and two quickly
became
one as Bullet shoved Romeo to the floor just seconds later!

The show ended with the triumphant former champion celebrating the
victory, as the Player's Club huddle in the aisle.

A night after Overload, it was announced that in addition to the San
Antonio Streetfight between Grady Mitchell and Dick Hackenschmidt there
would also be a Women's Southwest Title match between Kiora Donovan and
"Main Event" Megan Affleck, a Southwest Tag Title Match with the new
champions St. George and the Dragon going against the West Coast Wild
Boyz, and last night's big winner, Bullet, facing Genya Okutsu one more
time to determine the number one contender to "Hollywood" Cody Jones
and
the Southwest Heavyweight Championship. Perhaps the biggest cheer came
however when it was announced that the Player's Club was taking the
night
off. Tough crowd.

But kicking off the evening was the Saturday Night Express taking on
Hellhound and Overkill in tag action, and the underdogs again had the
crowd squarely behind them as WIMP led his team down to the ring and
the
SNE jumped their opponents before the bell. Dancin' Dan Lane and
Jumpin'
Jack Flash abused Hellhound for several minutes before the tide was
turned thanks to a tag, and Overkill managed to set Flash up for a
superplex until Jason Jordan of the WCWB appeared out of nowhere and
distracted Overkill. This allowed Lane to strike with a lariat to the
back of the head that sent his opponent crashing hard off the top rope
all the way to the arena floor, and as Jordan escaped to the back it
was
the Express who finished Hellhound off with the Express Elevator.

An intergender tag team encounter followed as Zero-G teamed up with
Keiko
Shimoda to face Rosalee Perez and Stephen Edge. The unlikely team of G
and Shimoda had some communication problems at first, letting Perez and
Edge pick them apart with a divide and conquer strategy. Once Shimoda
finally warmed up to Zero-G however, she saved him from a spear off the
apron and Edge wiped himself out in a heap on the floor. Perez grabbed
Shimoda and attempted a powerbomb, but G reversed his partner's
momentum
and the resulting pendulum powerbomb from Keiko scored the pinfall!
The
winning team hugged after the match, which led to a jealous Genya
storming down to ringside to confront Zero-G about whether he is
Keiko's
secret admirer. G denied it and left the ring, but when Okutsu and
Shimoda turned to leave the videoscreen showed a posed photo of Shimoda
with the words "Next week, my lovely..." Genya once again flipped out,
grabbing his wife by the wrist and dragging her to the locker rooms.

In a rekindling of the rivalry between these two teams, The West Coast
Wild Boyz took on St. George & The Dragon except this time, the tag
team
titles were on the line. Jordan and Hunter kept Adam Drake in the ring
and tried on several occasions to score the quick pinfall only to have
Drake escape each time. A snap DDT eventually let Drake bring in his
partner, and as the match was in danger of swinging back to the
champion's favor Hellhound and Overkill made their way out to ringside
to
the cheers of the crowd. The official warned them to back off, but it
was the Wild Boyz themselves that instigated a fight as Jordan launched
himself off the ringsteps with a flying shoulderblock. The match was
thrown out as all three teams brawled until things were separated by
officials. This led into the intermission, and "Superstar" Shauna
Duncan
of We 4 Girls came out to hawk merchandise.

When we came back from the break Kiora Donovan defended her women's
title
against "Main Event" Megan Affleck, and the W4G member surprised the
champion with a headfirst dive through the ropes during her entrance.
Affleck kept the pressure up with more high risk offence including a
triple jump senton bomb that almost handed her the championship.
Donovan
spotted an opening when Megan headed to the top rope late in the match
and tripped her up, causing Affleck to land dangerously on the top of
her
head. This seemed to affect her throughout the rest of the match, at
one
point Affleck missed a springboard splash and wiped out badly a second
time. Kiora locked on a clawhold and tried to make Megan fade, but
Affleck kept refusing to tap out. Donovan released the claw to deliver
three consecutive headbutts to the base of her opponent's skull and
then
slapped on another clawhold, and this time the referee was forced to
stop
the match once he deemed Affleck no longer able to defend herself.
Following the champion's exit, the crowd gave Megan a standing ovation
as
she struggled to get back on her feet and eventually made it back to
the
locker rooms.

In another rekindling of a rivalry, it was a tale of two former
Southwest
Champions as Bullet squared off with Genya Okutsu for the number one
contender status to the title. Genya seemed distracted as the match
began, ordering Keiko to return to the locker rooms within the first
couple of minutes of the match so she wouldn't distract him. Sadly,
that
failed to help as Bullet pulled off yet another victory over Genya,
beating him with a tornado backbreaker and an inside cradle. After the
match, Bullet addressed the ACW crowd and vowed to reclaim the
Southwest
Heavyweight Championship from Cody Jones.

Main event time was next, as Grady Mitchell faced off with Dick
Hackenschmidt in a San Antonio Streetfight, coming out dressed in jeans
and a grey ACW t-shirt. Dick came out with a steel chair and soon the
fight was on. They brawled all over the building and during the course
of the match, Grady wrapped a cable around Dick's throat and dragged
him
up the aisle towards the stage. Another fistfight led to Mitchell
getting handcuffed to the guardrail, and a pair of chairshots took it's
toll on the fan favorite. Grady managed to free himself after stopping
a
lariat with a boot square in the jaw and taking the key off of Dick,
and
an STO on the floor stunned Dick for quite some time.

The two wrestlers eventually made their way up onto the stage and took
turns working each other over with a more wrestling based attack, then
a
suplex off the stage into the crowd left both men semi-conscious
towards
the latter part of the match. A fire extinguisher to the back of the
skull left Mitchell prone to take a piledriver on the cement floor, but
at the last second a backdrop saved Grady. A leather belt wrapped
around
his throat put Grady into a dazed state and gave Hackenschmidt the
opportunity he needed. Dick took one of the sections of guardrail and
leaned it up against the edge of the stage, grabbed Mitchell and
executed
a running powerbomb across it, bending the steel rail and leaving his
opponent splayed across it. A three count later, and the crowd was
left
to boo as Hackenschmidt was declared the winner.
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...
