‘Heartless’ Jakob Volga [vs] Angel Demente

This was expected to be a fierce battle between two men who are clearing out on the edge, but shortly after the bell it was obvious that Volga was not on his game. Demente took control of the battle by winning a brawl and then GOUGING the eyes of Volga. Demente picked up Volga and dropped him throat first over the ropes. The SPW superstar got to his feet and was met by a RUNNING CLOTHESLINE!

Demente continued the assault by picked up Volga and using a BACKBREAKER to soften up Volga, a move which he followed with a KNEE to the small of the back. Demente then locked Volga in the CAMEL CLUTCH and he seemed to really enjoy the pain Volga was suffering.

Volga did get to his hands and knees and then to his feet and drove Demente into the corner, this gave Volga a chance to rest. But by the time he moved back in Demente was ready, and countered the charging Volga by hitting him with a KNEELIFT! Jakob Volga, who came into the match with a 1-0 record was now clearly in trouble. Demente set up Volga for a PILEDRIVER and that was all she wrote as Demente picked up the

Demente debuts with a win and Volga drops to 1-1.

Mark Adams Jr. [vs] Cobra

Neither man could afford another loss here, and it showed in a match that started out cagey and very much mat based. Despite Cobra’s vast edge in experience, Adams matched him hold for hold in the early going, a testament both to his training and his stellar wrestling genetics. His gameplan soon became evident with his focus on the arm and shoulder, working towards his favored Icebreaker Crossface submission. Cobra, meanwhile, seemed to take more of a defensive approach, and that led to Adams controlling the majority of those early exchanges. When he made his first attempt at the Icebreaker, however, Cobra countered a FORWARD SWEEP TAKEDOWN with a BACK ELBOW to the face, and then a RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP of his own. He quickly followed up with a SPINNING NECKBREAKER and then a tight NECK CRANK that had the youngster in pain.

He continued the focus on the neck for the next several minutes, cutting off more than one attempted comeback by Adams in the process. Cobra’s big match experience was beginning to shine through, but still, Adams caught his break after flipping out of a GERMAN SUPLEX and catching Cobra with a HAMMERLOCK BACK SUPLEX! He followed with a SINGLE ARM DDT that sent Cobra bailing to the outside to break the rookie’s momentum. Adams stayed on him with a BASEBALL SLIDE DROPKICK... but Cobra sidestepped, and then leveled him with a LARIAT ON THE OUTSIDE! Cobra stayed on him, tossing him back into the ring and then stomping on his neck and shoulders. He pulled him up, and hit a DRAGON SUPLEX! Cover… 1-2-kickout! Adams scrambled out, but Cobra got him locked up… in a SURFBOARD SUBMISSION!

Adams wouldn’t submit despite the excruciating pain, and was able to eventually break loose. This lead to several more minutes of back and forth action, with Cobra looking to ramp up the pressure as Adams dug deep into his training and instincts to stay afloat against the veteran’s onslaught. Any time it looked like Cobra might be closing in on the kill, Adams was able to turn the tide and mount an offensive burst of his own. One possible key factor began to become evident though, that being the young rookie’s intent of winning the match using his father’s famed Icebreaker. This lead him on more than one occasion to passing up what could have been a better opportunity in favor of another attempt at the Crossface submission. Cobra countered each time, and in fact seemed to soon be expecting it, catching Adams first with a counter into an improvised cradle that nearly snatched the three-count, and later by dropping to the mat and snapping Adams throat-first into the bottom rope as he attempted to latch on the hold.

This gave him the opening to perhaps put Adams away for good. He SLAMMED the rookie in the middle of the ring, and headed to the top rope. Perched high, he dove off…

But he missed the DIVING HEADBUTT when Adams rolled out of the way! Adams scrambled up, and went for the ICEBREAKER CROSSFACE!!

But Cobra made it to the ropes!

Adams pulled him up, and went for a TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! But Cobra used his weight and strength to REVERSE IT… only for Adams to squirm out the back door! He shoved Cobra forward into the ropes… ROLLING CRADLE on the way out… no, Cobra grabbed the ropes! Adams rolled back to his feet, and met the charge by Cobra…

With a DROP TOEHOLD! And the ICEBREAKER CROSSFACE!! He fought with Cobra, trying to get the hold fully locked in…

But somehow the veteran pushed up out of it, rolled through, and again maneuvered the rookie’s shoulders down on the mat!

THR—No!

Adams escaped the pin! That left him with Cobra’s back briefly vulnerable and the veteran face down on the mat. He scrambled to hook Cobra’s weakened arm with his legs…

But Adams gave up the ICEBREAKER opportunity in favor of hooking his far arm too, and rolling Cobra forward… into a modified CRUXIFIX CRADLE!

YES! He just got him as Cobra broke free a split-second too late! And Mark Adams Jr. picked up the vital Group A victory!

Roman Anderson [vs] Clyde Kennedy

Kennedy was a “sleeping giant awoken” in Twelve Days competition, if his recent comments were to be believed, and he certainly resembled that remark here, as he came after Roman Anderson with a vengeance in this Group B match up. Roman again turned to the stalling tactics that had found limited success in his defeat against Jakob Volga. They were similarly ineffective here for the most part, especially when Kennedy grew tired of him forcing the break by ducking through the ropes in the corner. The second time it happened, Kennedy pummeled Roman mercilessly until the referee threatened a disqualification.

When it didn’t come, Roman bailed instead for the outside. Briefly considering heading for the back and safety, he instead ran around ringside as Kennedy came out after him. Roman reentered the ring, and caught Kennedy with a snap dropkick as he followed… but “The Policy” shrugged it off, and kept after him. Roman fled to the corner, but appearing to understand his predicament in this match, surprised perhaps the announcers, fans, and Clyde Kennedy alike by coming at him with a burst of desperate aggression! More surprisingly again, it seemed to pay off as Roman was able to get Kennedy momentarily on the backfoot… at least until the impressive physical specimen TOSSED Roman hard into the corner! Roman came back again, hammering forearms and punches at the bigger man… and again Kennedy HURLED him aside!

This set the tone for the next several minutes of action, with Kennedy mostly dominating with a gameplan that was high on sheer physical punishment. Mostly it was vicious knees and other strikes, although the pair of BACKBREAKERS he mixed in for good measure telegraphed his intent of unleashing KENNEDY’S CONTRAPTION sooner rather than later. Roman stayed in this match, however, through a rarely-seen determination and whatever desperation maneuver he could pull out of his repertoire. And when Roman was able to use a yank of the tights to pull Kennedy face-first down into the bottom turnbuckle, he quickly dove on him with a BLATANT CHOKE in the corner that Kennedy fought his way free of even as the official threatened his count.

Roman even forced a good two-count midway through the match, when he caught Kennedy with an ENZIGUIRI that left him staggering, and prey to a FLYING BULLDOG OFF THE SECOND ROPE! “The Policy” kicked out, however, and quickly regained the offense with a vicious CLOTHESLINE! He then hit Roman with a huge BLUE THUNDER BACKBREAKER that might have earned the victory, but no pin was forthcoming from a man seemingly intent on sending a message. Stalking the ailing Anderson, he pulled him up… but was met with a particularly nasty RAKE OF THE EYES! Roman used the opening to again scramble to the outside, where he grabbed a steel chair from the time keeper! Staggering back, and ignoring the referee’s admonitions, he threw the chair into the ring! The referee just shook his head and grabbed it, and quickly removed the chair from the ring…

Just the opportunity Roman was looking for, as behind the official’s back, he DUG DEEEEP IN HIS PANTS™ and pulled out his brass knuckles! Measuring Clyde Kennedy, he swung high and hard…

And Kennedy CAUGHT his loaded fist!! Roman’s eyes grew wide as he saw the look on Kennedy’s face! And then he was yanked around…

And up into KENNEDY’S CONTRAPTION!!! Clyde Kennedy cranked down hard on the torture rack!

And a screaming Roman Anderson submitted!!

‘Hotstuff’ Stevie Porter [vs] The Cyclops

The Cyclops was impressive from the moment he stepped outside the curtains, he is big and that mask with the one eye gives him an even more menacing look that one might imagine. The Cyclops was in the ring as Your Nobody Until Somebody Loves you filled the arena and Stevie Porter, Hotstuff himself walked to the ring. Even Stevie was taken aback by the big man and enter the ring cautiously.

Porter tried to get The Cyclops to chase him, as Porter wanted no part of going straight in on the giant. But The Cyclops waited him out and finally got his hands on Porter and the beat down began.

Big chops to the chest, followed by powerful right hands and he would mix in a HIP TOSS here and there just to break it up. Porter finally bailed to the outside and into the waiting arms of Trinity Davis. The referee counted up to nine but Porter rolled back in the ring and tried to get some mercy from the oncoming Cyclops. What Porter got was a SLAP IN THE FACE!

Hotstuff did not take this well and he walked up to the man and GOUGED HIS EYES, er.. EYE! The Cyclops doubled over and Porter quickly climbed up the ropes and came down with a DOUBLE HANDED AX HANDLE CHOP! He did it again and again and finally forced the Cyclops to one knee. Porter went to the ropes and came off with a SHINING WIZARD!

But the big man did not go down. Porter then made a mistake, he climbed on his back and tried to put on a COBRA CLUTCH. At least that’s what it looked like, but The Cyclops got to his feet and tossed Porter off like yesterdays news. The Cyclops then picked up Porter and hit a BACKBREAKER!

And another BACKBREAKER!

Then picked him up again for a,

. . . you guessed it

. . . BACKBREAKER!!!

The Cyclops then picked Porter up for his torture rack he calls VISION, but that’s when old Stevie Porter fought his way out and landed behind The Cyclops and he did what any man would have done.

LOW BLOW!

Did the referee see it? Hell no, he was distracted by Trinity!

Porter then jumped on The Cyclops and locked on a SLEEPER and prayed!

It is Christmas, and prayers are answered and Stevie Porter put the big man to SLEEP!

Hotstuff Stevie Porter then got the hell outta dodge as the referee was left to wake up the big man.
