So... I'll start it off!

Quote:

October 16th, 2004 is a date that will live forever in infamy, within
the world of professional wrestling. On that date, the Universal
Wrestling Federation bore witness to one of the wildest, most out of
control wrestling events ever. That night, Saturday Night Rampage was
taken off the air thanks to a building-wide brawl that saw injuries too
numerous to count and the intervention of the police. In the days that
followed, the UWF was banned from holding any future shows in the city
of Miami.

Until now.

October 16th, 2008 the UWF returns to the American Airlines Arena in
Miami for SCENE OF THE CRIME! This special Thursday pay-per-view event
will be held exactly four years after the chaos that raged and nearly
destroyed the company.

:o

And the main event should be a perfect example of that destruction.
"THE LOOSE CANNON" LUKE KINSEY puts the World Heavyweight Championship
on the line against the man who has hounded him for more than a year, in
multiple wrestling companies, and under multiple guises... the former
Man In Black, "MR. EXCITEMENT" ALEX EXTREME! On the last SNR, Extreme
revealed himself only after the champ offered up an addition clause to
their battle, which is now a LOSER LEAVES TOWN MATCH!

Hrm... Loser leaves town match... with Extreme who just showed his face and the current champ... I'll say... that Kinsey shocks all with a win, but instead of sending Extreme back home, he forces him to join the Illimunati!

TREY DAMANN is the Unified Television Champion, and a proud man. But as
of late, it's been "THE LAST AMERICAN BADASS" ALEX MARTINEZ getting
under the skin of the trillion dollar baby. They've exchanged words,
they've exchanged sneak attacks, but at Scene Of The Crime they'll
finally exchange punches inside the confines of a STEEL CAGE! An ugly
history between Alex and the DaMann family has been dredged up, and a
new chapter is about to be added.

Not sure about this one since it's been a pretty even feud and both have been great. I'll say DaMann edges out a win in a match no one thinks he can win.

THE ONE-WINGED ANGEL saw firsthand as "THE DOOMSAYER" KYLE LEE
emphasized his return to action recently, and at Scene Of The Crime
these longtime rivals will do battle in a hotly contested match!

Kyle Lee!

She realized her dream of becoming the world champion at Gold Rush in
front of her hometown fans, and "THE MOCKINGBIRD" NINA GRIMSSON heads to
Miami to defend the WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP against "THE ALL AROUND
ATHLETE" LAURA DAVIS! Will traditional wrestling be Laura's ticket to
taking the title, or can the Mockingbird prove once again that might
makes right, at any cost?

Grimsson retains... hrm... that would be three champs retaining... Uh... Yeah!

Brand new UNIFIED WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS were crowned at the last SNR,
as DON'T GO THERE defeated THE OUTLAWS in what many call a huge upset
over the veterans Holliday and Maverick. And DGT won't waste any time
as they put the titles on the line against the winners of the
THE PROPHETS OF
RAGE/FURY/THE TRAILER PARK ASSASSINS match at Throwdown!

I'll say that DGT over... Fury... Damn't, that's four champs retaining.

"THE TWILIGHT ANGEL" SONYA BENEDICT steps into battle against her number
one contender, the devious DONNA TETREAULT for the WOMEN'S NORTH
AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP! And with "The Protege" still
underway, it's not a question of will the pupils of Lady Bastard become
involved, it's how much they'll be involved.

Tetreault wins the NA strap... hey, finally a championship change!

And "THE ERA OF DEFIANCE" GABRIEL WHITECROSS has asked for interview
time at Scene Of The Crime, to deliver a major announcement regarding
his future in professional wrestling! All this and more TBA!

TBA wins in... oh... that's not a match. Uh, Whitecross will announce that he will manage his son in the UWF... or form a tag team with his son - does he have a son? Well... he does now. And he's going to, uh, do... something... wrestling-related... in, uh, union... with him? Yeah.

I hope Alex Extreme didn't just come back to lose one match. New champ.

TREY DAMANN is the Unified Television Champion, and a proud man. But as

under the skin of the trillion dollar baby. They've exchanged words,

THE ONE-WINGED ANGEL saw firsthand as "THE DOOMSAYER" KYLE LEE
emphasized his return to action recently, and at Scene Of The Crime
these longtime rivals will do battle in a hotly contested match!

1WA, because Kyle Lee can go years between matches and still be the top face in the league. Is it just me, or has Angel not had a signature win since Michael Bonn?

She realized her dream of becoming the world champion at Gold Rush in
front of her hometown fans, and "THE MOCKINGBIRD" NINA GRIMSSON heads to
Miami to defend the WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP against "THE ALL AROUND
ATHLETE" LAURA DAVIS! Will traditional wrestling be Laura's ticket to
taking the title, or can the Mockingbird prove once again that might
makes right, at any cost?

Laura Davis, because Grimssons are always better in title-chasing mode anyway.

Brand new UNIFIED WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS were crowned at the last SNR,
as DON'T GO THERE defeated THE OUTLAWS in what many call a huge upset
over the veterans Holliday and Maverick. And DGT won't waste any time
as they put the titles on the line against THE PROPHETS OF RAGE!

DGT finally got elevated to where they should be. As awesome as the Prophets are, they will come away empty-handed. They'll get DQed somehow and remain the top contenders.

Donna deserves better than the NA title. The Protege storyline gives her an out for losing the match. Benedict retains when one of the wannabes costs Donna the match.

In a newly signed match, GAMMA RAY puts his 'undefeated streak' on the
line when he squares off with TOMMY "THRILLSEEKER" ELLIOTT at Scene Of
The Crime!

GAMMA ROCKS!!

And just signed in a rematch from just this past edition of Throwdowm,
it'll be JUAN VASQUEZ steps into battle against newcomer OZ RIVERA!

Vasquez deserves better than these opening matches. El Cholo makes a statement in this one.

And "THE ERA OF DEFIANCE" GABRIEL WHITECROSS has asked for interview
time at Scene Of The Crime, to deliver a major announcement regarding
his future in professional wrestling! All this and more TBA!

He's listed on the active roster on the webpage, so it doesn't seem like anything too swervy will happen. I'm just hoping his announcement does not include any intention of going after the current Unified Television champion.

Now that the preview show is out finally, any new thoughts?

Maybe posting your own thoughts would inspire others!

;)

Right now, I'm a little miffed because I let 2 or 3 glaring mistakes slip by in GR's flash, which is absolutely unforgivable according to my unattainable standards.
I remember correcting them, but I probably didn't save the corrections.
:angry1:

But overall, I liked the show. The flashes were mostly varied in style and tone, making the greater whole more interesting.
Excluding GR's, I can't recall a single flash that didn't work.
But it was well past my bedtime as I read the show, so maybe I missed stuff due to fatigue.

I might have made the editorial decision to inverse the order of some flashes, but that's a microscopic detail.

The only part I didn't enjoy as much was the women's debate. Not because of any one flash in particular, mind you, individually, they all worked as far as I can tell.
I think that what I ended up not liking, is the over-exposure of the debate - it's been elaborated upon by a great number of people from just about every possible point of view.
And it's a debate that can't possibly be won. No matter what happens at SotC, it can still go on eternally, because you can't prove that any one style is superior to others. It's like trying to prove punk is better than metal or vice versa - it just can't be done.
I try to think of a logical conclusion to this debate, and I can't come up with one (note: I am blessed with an extraordinary lack of imagination).
The sheer amount of flashes on this topic over the course of the cycle kinda makes me a little jaded at this point.

To change topics... am I only one that now thinks Trey DaMann is a face and Alex Martinez the heel?
Touching, sympathy generating flash from an "underdog" DaMann, and a menacingly aggressive flash from "monster" Martinez.
It all screams smooth double-turn to me.

In terms of predictions, I won't make any. All matches could go either way to me.

There is only one prediction I can easily make:
"Gamma Ray jobs in the absolute most pathetic way imaginable."
It's an easy prediction to make since that's the prediction I make every single time. It ensures that even if Gamma Ray jobs in the second most pathetic way imaginable, it's still a pleasant surprise and better than I expected.

I just don't know how to react if ever happens that he really does job in the absolute most pathetic way possible...

Yeah, when you're making the heel the one with the sympathetic storyline going in, it's hard otherwise to boo him.

I mean...who the hell wants to boo a guy who's getting beat up by someone twice as big as him, the same guy that basically killed his father and laughs about it and who then keeps on rubbing his face in the fact that he did it?

Yeah, Alex Martinez...a real hero.

I don't think Martinez should be a face or is a face for what it's worth. He was always pretty much a big nasty bastard that got cheered even though he was kinda an a-hole most of the time.

As for predictions...Juan Vasquez wins.

ALL THE MATCHES.

Even the women's matches. Put THAT in your intergender match advocacy pipe and smoke it!

I can't think of a Martinez face role really sticking unless he was up against a heel who was rather loathsome. Otherwise, he's always been a tweener. But I could still see it working in the DaMann feud since DaMann's no angel nor was his father and that Martinez has a bigger "rep".

Sure, people have been waiting for DaMann to get his just desserts, but it's kinda blurring lines a whole lot when the supposed lesser of two evils in the feud makes the heel CRY.

Or maybe Trey is just a big girly man that needs to put on some big boy pants. -_-

Well, A-Mart was a pretty big face in the (not yet) E many moons ago. However, I suppose a case can be made that he was consistently interacting with loathsome heels.

After reading the Pre Show here are my quick thoughts ...

Extreme finishes one of the best overall angles of 2008 by capturing the championship, but how long will Kinsey be gone?

DaMann overcomes the big man, but I could see the feud rage on.

Kyle Lee pulls out a big win ...

Laura Davis defeats Nina Grimsson ...

The Prophets give them a tough run, but Don't Go There pulls it out in the end ...

A tough call between Tetreault and Benedict. But with the big belt changing I think I will go with another successful defense with Benedict finding a way to keep the belt.

In a show stealing performance between both men ... Elliot squeaks a win, but sets up a reason for a big rematch going into next cycle with tons of hype when ending Gamma's undefeated streak. I agree with Jay above when he said Gamma Rocks!

Oz Rivera with an upset over the veteran!

And Whitecross makes us all happy and returns and joins the UWF roster!

Kinsey vs. Extreme: My question is, if Alex gets the win, will he be a much needed face after the reign of Kinsey or will he do an immediate bitter 180 afterwards?

DaMann vs. Martinez: Definitely all sides seem to point to a double turn. While I'm rooting for Trey, both men are bigger than the TV title so I see a belt drop soon after regardless so that these guys can deservedly go up the ladder.

Lee vs. 1WA: Kyle. Shame, because when One Winged is on, he's terrific. Not to take anything away from Kyle, of course...

Grimmson vs. Davis: While I see Nina retaining in the end, I'm seeing her retention coming via a time limit draw so Laura has reason to continue the feud.

DGT vs. PoR: Well, my team of course! I just hope we get an influx of fresh blood into the tag scene one way or the other.

Tetreault vs. Benedict: While I'm flattered at the thought of Donna being greater than the NA Women's title, I could make the argument that her having the NA belt might make a tasty nugget to whoever becomes the Protege -- and to who doesn't. We'll see what Beeby has planned... :B):

Gamma Ray vs. Elliot: This should be fun. Tommy Elliot's the perfect foil for GR here. Whatever the outcome, I don't see a clean win to settle matters, so this feud is going another round.

Vasquez vs. Rivera: Both men seem hungry. Not to take anything away from Oz, I think JV needs the win more.
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...

Throwing in my own $0.11...

* Vasquez beats Rivera in a close bloodbath- after the match, Vasquez shows an unexpected sportsmanship but shaking Rivera's hand and speaking quietly to him in the ring

* Gamma Ray keeps his undefeated streak alive by beating Tommy Elliott, with the help of Sylhouette

* Locked-Door rules with Tetreault and Benedict? I think Fantasy Girl stills interfere to give Tetreault the win. Then Tetreault points out to the UWF officials that no one can PROVE it was Fantasy Girl, because she's wearing a mask

* Don't Go There narrowly defeats the Prophets of Rage

* Gabriel Whitecross comes out to make his announcement. Juan Vasquez comes out to argue with Whitecross, and things break down into a brawl- when Oz Rivera comes out to help Juan Vasquez! They leave Whitecross in the ring as Vasquez welcomes Rivera as his student to challenge Don't Go There

* Nina Grimsson defeats Laura Davis to retain the title

* Kyle Lee defeats One-Winged Angel

* Alex Martinez defeats Trey DaMann in an absolute bloodbath that goes outside the cage and brawls into the stands, leading to flashbacks from the Brawl in Miami. Both men needs to be carried out on a stretcher.

* Alex Extreme defeats Luke Kinsey for the title. Kyle Lee joins the announce table for the match, and the show ends with a retrospective of Kinsey's career, Extreme celebrating the title in the ring, and Kyle Lee watching the new champion.
