please.

How Jay lasted that long is beyond me.

I had to run one cycle and I went mad.

UEW was unwielding beast of a fed that while cool for players sometimes seemed like an excuse to go towards a drunken stupor to figure it all out for fedheads.

The fact that Sunday Night was as big as PPVs sometimes said it all.

You know, at some point, I even entertained the idea of fedheading UEW. I had floated the idea and then I was on AIM for an hour, and the constant barrage of people with their ideas was enough to convince me that it wasn't for me.

Despite the fact that I don't know WTF what you people are reminiscing about...
I've at least heard of the "flooding the cage strat."
The idea is so overwhelmingly stupid, I have a really, _really_ hard time believing the story could be genuine.
Who would be dumb enough to think a cage could be flooded?
It's so stupid it can't possibly be real.

At least, hanging a guy from a blimp is believable.
Heck, that's what I stratted for the end of the Elliott - Gamma Ray match, I just don't know why it's been ignored.

This thread is awesome, and brings two points to mind.

1) Someone needs to get a roomful of whiskey and open UEW again.

2) Jay Steele should be helping someone book a fed. Not writing, not running, just booking. The man can handle about a million threads and personalities and still manage to make things work, as evidenced by the 50,000 people who tried afterward and failed.

For the last time, I was young and stupid! The blimp seemed like a good idea at the time, and besides... Styles still didn't win the match. In fact, I'd like to officially break the news that Dan Kauffman will face the Blimp at Gold Rush 2009 in an ultimate grudge match nine years in the making.

The Blimp will then be wished well in its future endeavors the day after the event.

So THAT'S why Kauffman made that cameo at the end of SOTC!
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...

Dan Kauffman vs. Andy Reid?! Who the hell do I root for in that one?

Actually Mike, Styles using the blimp in UWF was a retread of an infamous use from UEW (unless my memory has totally failed me). I think it had to do with a Skyscraper match, which I think was a sort of scaffold match. Jay or Jeff can correct me if I'm getting the details wrong.

The flooded cage...I think that was something I was in right? I know we wired the war games cage to explode while we were in it one time--god bless aaron. It was his first time working with Trev as an ally and he so badly wanted to play with all of Merc's toys.

As for the blimp...

A UEW creation sad to say.

The original Rumble In the Bronx featured Jeff Matthews vs J'ster in skyscraper match. In the middle of the damn thing, Rob Magnum shows up in a blimp and rams the skyscraper cage. It supposedly killed J'ster yet showed up again from the dead.

In fairness, your truly rode a the Chicago Bull blimp into the United Center at Ides of March months later in Colby-Extreme street fight match--the one where Extreme destroyed the Stanley Cup.

AT RITB2, Skyscraper 3 was Styles-Matthews-Extreme. Match ends with Styles capturing the title via blimp and sailing off into New York City with Extreme watching from the top of the cage.

For the record, and this is where UEW was truly nuts, I had it counter stratted. I had Chris Tyler in a helicopter who was supposed to come down and stop Styles or Matthews in case of something exactly like that.

That's also how Merc got his rocket launcher. After that mess Extreme bought him one in case Styles pulled that garbage again so he could take it out.

Blimp made one more UEW apperance--the match where Dave got screwed over. As a joke, Extreme hangglidded down to the ring from the "Extreme" blimp.

The Mark left for UWF and took his blimp with him.

If people think that's nuts. there was that hardcore Easter match in which Merc had Extreme dress up like Jesus Christ and smacked somebody with his cross he wore.

UEW was truly insane. I mean Warlock hit Tommy Lionheart with a F-16!

And that cruise ship PPV was just begging for insane crap like that too.

I will admit there is a place out there for a fed like UEW right now. A place where crap like that could happen and people didn't seem to mind how over the top or insane it was.

It's a real damn shame Rick Styles was never blown up by a rocket launcher.

But then we'd never have Gigantor, the monster from the swamps of Mongolia!
