It's a real damn shame Rick Styles was never blown up by a rocket launcher.

But then we'd never have Gigantor, the monster from the swamps of Mongolia!

Actually Gigantor was around back before Rick Styles really hit it big in the UEW ... In the origional WLW ... Mike or Jeff may be able to correct me but I think he was even WLW World Champion.

Considering how many world titles these characters seem to have won, were all these fedheads struck in the head by a blunt object that impaired their reading comprehension or something?

Yep, sad but true. Gigantor was WLW Champion. He may also have murdered the Rainbow Warrior.

If some of you were only around for the days of Prodigy Classic feds, where crazy things happened all the time.

And one of them, the CSWA, is still around. I looked it up.

True story: CSWA did a bit where a midget wrestler known as The Red Midget was supposedly killed, and they were actually able to work an over-the-top storyline where it led to the owner of CSWA getting convicted, only for the midget to reveal he faked his own death to screw the boss over.

And no, I'm not joking when I say it worked. It was clearly being done for laughs from the start and wasn't something people were to take seriously. It was actually done by folks who wanted to have a little fun and not just get into "can you top this mentality" with strats simply because somebody desperately wants to win a title bout or otherwise draw attention to himself.

Gigantor was 1st. In fact, Styles was his manager.

WLW, the 1st version not the Mark Rosendorf one, was the precursor to UEW. Back then there wasn't packets, people would just email the whole fed a rp.

This also meant you could see 5-6 rps from people a day. Nothing that was any good mind you just a crapload of shooting, callouts, and name calling. I could get like 300 emails from a fed like that-- A DAY!

I know when I was leaving, graduating college and no computer at home, Mark used Extreme as his springboard to get Styles over as I was the heat magnet of that fed and NEVER seemed to know who was holding the damn title nor did I care.

As for UEW, there's a yahoo group archieve plus its mostly on rspwf. I used to bemoan to no end how it was better than the "big name feds". God was I wrong. However, UEW believed in the "anything can happen" slogan of the old WWF and well it usually did.

Those run-ins in WCW or back in the old Jim Crockett Days--haah! Nothing compared to UEW!

Strats, counter strats, strats to counter the counter strats.

Jer once stratted for every person in the fed but 2 to show up with a counter to all of them. I think Extreme was one of the few he didn't do it for. Its the greatest strat ever.

Every match would have like 5 run-ins--some not having to do with the match either. There were run-ins because you know someone not in the match was going to show up. So you stratted a run-in as a result to attack that guy but he not only saw you coming, he brought 2 friends to help stop you which would sometimes trigger others to show and well...you get the idea.

You couldn't have a war games match in UEW because the other factions would feel slighted and they'd ALL SHOW UP!

There are parts of it e-w would be good to bring back but as a whole...good god, I'm glad its finally dead and burried.

Then again, a few us of did once consider a "UEW Forever" show. I know if we crowned a final champ somehow it'd be some wild match to do it where if you held the title you could be in the match. Oh and I know at least 3 people, myself included, were stratting to do whatever it took to let Merc have the title.

K, I've rambled enough...

wow...

I almost forgot about that.

good catch Picky!

That was Creed, not the IIWF one, right?

He wanted Rosendorf's advice on a strat and Rosendorf sent it to EVERY other person in the UEW title match!

Rosendorf wasn't even in the fed at the time either!

Atleast they were like 3 lines though. :) I remember checking my mail and getting 70-80 emails then returning back a few hours later and getting another 70-80 emails!

Que Pat Calnan sighing about me mentioning the strat yet again.

I wasn't even in the fed at that time, or for anything longer than a couple of months!

K, I've rambled enough...

UEW had a lot going in its favor.

But good lord do I remember sending in strats that tried to cover every single conceivable run in, attack, etc.

I also, of course remember stratting to attack virtually everyone :)

That said, that sort of manic atmosphere was also part of the fun. I really miss the Dream Tag Partner tournament, where the goal was always to find some way to slit everyone's throat while simultaneously picking the most off the wall partner.

And in all fairness, I did come into UEW with my own (Styles influenced) turncoat strategy, where AM turned on Jeff Matthews (which led to our feud in EMWC), and also damn near crippled Magnus Colby. Which led to my rp where I laid out the stips for the UDM, which ultimately propelled AM forward.

Until, of course, the dreaded ARMBAR OF DEATH~! And then, my greatest moment in UEW, losing to a backslide :)

No, no it wasn't. :blush03:

I was still new to e-wrestling, so I had no idea how it worked. And after watching some of the hypercompetitive madness... well, let's just say my in-character thinking was juuuust a little too paranoid.

I remember doing super counter-strats...but that was for a TNM fed. And...everyone was repelled by Vasquez's use of the Infinity Gauntlet, anyhow.

Should've used that to counter the blimp.
