LAS VEGAS, NV: Twelve Days officials were shocked to hear last night of an incident at a local Las Vegas nightclub, involving tournament competitor Matt Payne and an undisclosed number of what were said to be wrestling fans. Payne had reportedly been drinking heavily throughout the night, and had been heard by multiple sources boasting about his chances of winning the gold medal on the final day of the tournament, as well as running down his opponents in the gold medal match. At some point in the night, an altercation allegedly occured between Payne and several nightclub-goers, which quickly descended into a brawl that resulted in the Las Vegas police being called. Payne was arrested following the incident, and reportedly has been charged with multiple cases of assault and other lesser related infractions. Payne is currently being held at Clark County Detention Center, pending bail being set. Considering the circumstances of this incident, Twelve Days Tournament officials have removed Matt Payne from the gold medal match on the final day of the tournament. ---- OOC: Sorry guys, like I've been keeping Rich informed this week, I just ran into a convergence of work and school stuff, along with a family member having to undergo emergency surgery twice over the last couple of days. Rich kept things open for me as long as possible, but in the end it wasn't fair to keep him and you waiting any longer. Good luck to everyone in the final, everyone's worked hard and put out some great stuff, and I just didn't want it to look like I just flaked at the final hurdle! Thanks, - Jon |
