Fun show! Some good promos throughout and man, I'm so digging the Gamma Ray/Sylhouette stuff. I was really glad the Sylhouette storyline bled into other characters' goings ons and think this is a great idea and want to see more of it! Gamma Ray is just awesome! And John Shock-Tommy Stephens was good and what about the Don't Go There promo? Ryu's line about Stephens having a senton named after him was great. Fun fun show! Can't wait for SNR! Top 3 Favorite Promos: 01-Gamma Ray 02-Tesla St. James 03-John Shock & Tommy Stephens |

The n00b's Inane Thoughts: (For we all know I don't have a clue, and my tastes are fairly particular) On Russian Youth Movement. Having seen them before somewhere, I can already guess where this is going. I will, however, indulge in a rant about Russian names I've been seeing recently. Many are wrong. I know me my Russian names, for I once dated a hot Russian for over a year. Ah, man, bragging about it still fulfills me. Errr... I mean, obviously I know everything there is to know about Russian names. Brekhov, for example, is a real Russian name. (Michail would normally be spelled Mikhail, but in context, it's acceptable) Chuchkin is also a real Russian name. Malakhei, however, is not. I think it's Hebrew for "angel," but may be wrong about that part. Malakhov is a pretty common Russian name, though. That said, my ex-girlfriend's mother had a very odd name for a Russian, as she had emigrated to Moldavia as a child and still had a German surname. So, though unlikely, you could successfully argue for a similar type of scenario for a Russian Malakhei. Impossible Russian names I've seen: from Angels & Amazons: Anastasia Meredeith Romanov. A woman would be called Romanova, and there are no exceptions to that rule... which is where the Meredeith surname comes in for the save; it can work if the girl is American, for instance, with distant Russian origins. It's still pretty cruel of the parents to give her a man's surname, but cruel parents make for good wrestlers. The other impossible Russian name I've seen is from Spirit FC: "The Siberian Predator" Fedora Vasilyev. Again, a woman would be called Vasilyeva. Still no exceptions to that rule. Also don't recall ever hearing of a Russian girl named after a hat, but eccentrics do exist. OK, I've got to end that rant now, I've just realized it's already way, WAY too long. On to actual UWF business. It seems like an interesting way to kick things off for the RYM, especially if their bios haven't changed since joining the UWF. The Tesla St. James promo, I admit, I'm partly responsible for. I'm sorry, I apologize. I'll probably end up doing that king of thing again, but I'll at least apologize again when it's appropriate once more. Scottie: it's Dalbello, not Diabello. ... but I may or may not think "Diabello" sounds better. It's unconfirmed. The promo was good in a brief, old-school type of way... except that I sort of feel that ending a statement with "I'm serious" sorta discredits everything that came before. For example, if I said: "Guys, I don't have herpes." ... everyone would believe me. But if I said: "Guys, I don't have herpes. I'm serious." ... everyone would cautiously step away. It's a subtle difference, but it's there. Pablo O'Connor, cheatin' addict. I only have two thoughts to share here: - POC's new gimmick, if you will, has now been defined pretty well, much like the idea of teaming with Brett Young. Now, it's time to move towards a feud asap, I think. - Delacroix seems... dare I say it- nearly useless, so far. While it's expected that a couple would share a lot of the same views, and learn to anticipate what each might think or say... she kinda looks like POC's echo, instead of a separate and distinct character. 'Course, she's not the "main character," so to speak, so establishing Stephanie's character isn't as big a priority as establishing Pablo's. Great, now 'Dro's gonna hate me (more). I admit I wasn't sold on Tommy Stephens' storyline initially - Having read nothing before the last Gold Rush (I do mean nothing, I'm lazy like that), I could only "judge" characters on things they did in feds I read (both of them) since 2008. Anything before that still counts for complete zilch in my eyes because I'm too lackadaisical to bother with archive diving. Anyways... I wasn't sure about a drunk wreck of a wrestler, thinking it looked a bit too pathetic, but, over time, I think it may have worked. Tommy Stephens today seems like a pretty sympathetic face you can admire for overcoming his demons (at least temporarily, heh!) Now, he desperately, desperately needs some kind of feud though. If anyone's begging to be gratuitously beaten up by the nearest heel, it's Stephens. I also apologize about the Gamma Ray promo. I'll also probably do it again. Speaking of people needing feuds, why is Orin LeBlanc not doing anything? Is there a heel drought? And... Nikki's name is Nicolette? Corvette, Sylhouette, and Nicolette... there are too many damn 'Ettes for just one fed. The new "Gamma Minion" line of "Gamma-Wear" is out? W00t! The Irradiated One can start expecting an extra monthly check of a few pennies thanks to the sales! Someone's gonna have to tell Cooter that Gamma Ray is a superhero. If I had a muscle-bound friend, I'd make a Gamma Ray costume, coerce him into wearing it in public (using blackmail, probably) then add Gamma Ray to the Superhero Registry (Too bad Crimefighter Girl is retired... she was cute) Anyways... rumor has it that, should Sylhouette keep shirking her sidekick duties, Gamma Ray might be forced to hold auditions for a replacement. At least, Orbit already has the super-heroic name part down! Reading the Osawa-Bonn flash... you know what's missing? An official tag-team feud. At least one. There are many teams in the UWF, but no tag feuds? What gives? Why am I obsessed with the lack of feuds? After such a long post... I have added nothing insightful or interesting. Go me!

First off, I am pretty excited that someone is talking about my stuff for once! Yay! On the feud/angle stuff, just have patience. Let things slowly build up, I think in the end you'll be happy we take a while to build it up. On Delacroix I think on that also have a little patience. There are things coming up she will get to have a bigger role in. Patience young one! All things will come to you! You can always go read the FFN Pablo Archives if you want some Delacroix storyline character stuff, not that I'm taking this moment to do a cheap shill! But hey, I appreciate the feedback on what I'm doing! I hope I can make things a bit more interesting in the near future! And explain to me, for months people are praising your work, in my post up above I mostly talk about how much I enjoy what you are doing and still you're apologizing for your work? Dude you're good! Go look at April's E-W Rankings, which were compiled from several people, not just me. Look how well you did. YOU ARE GOOD! Accept this and move forward with confidence! Rock it out amigo! |

Ah, yes... the whole "have patience" thing, yeah. Patience requires emotional maturity, which I sorely lack. So there. However, I do get it. As I said, I was dubious of the Tommy Stephens storyline initially (Not the story as such, but I did think he was initially portrayed as too pathetic), and pretty much a year later, it has paid dividends in painting a sympathetic character. And, in wrestling, sympathetic characters scream to be beaten up by an unsympathetic heel. So, yeah. I get that it's possibly heading somewhere. I just want the somewhere to be now or, at least, some time next week. Could I go back and read the POC/SD archives. Yes, I could. You have thoughtfully organized the archives regarding this mischievous pair for ease of access and reading. However, that would give POC an unfair advantage over other If I read up on POC's past, however... that would change for two characters, which is not fair for the other That, or I'm only justifying my prodigious indolence. And yes, I apologize for my work. I'm ready to accept it will not be unanimously enjoyed. And for the reader, there's a chance of getting stuck with a Jaws theme in your head all day, or the Unsolved Mysteries Theme, or, worse yet, a classic Lionel Ritchie ballad. Personally, I've been singin' "Hello" for over a week. In public. People look at me like I'm "special." That stuff is dangerous, and should come with a Surgeon General's stern warning. As for the E-W Rankings, while entertainingly edifying, there was likely a mistake in the count, or there were too many pity votes, or the voting was sabotaged by the DaMann landslide. Something along those lines. Oh, speaking of which... Q: What did DaMann say to the DEA? A: [Obi Wan voice] These are not the 'roids you're looking for. [/Obi Wan voice.] |

Juan Vasquez was pretty much always a self-aware bitter curmudgeon trying to repress his natural inclination to be a morally bankrupt scumbag when he could easily be living a happy life that doesn't revolve around revenge for slights against him. When he's a face, he's always, "Life is good...but I'm not a good person! I'm gonna slip up eventually guys!" and when he's a heel, he's always all "I'm a hateful, evil man, but I don't really wanna be like this! RAHHHHH...I'm gonna kill you Epstein! Your momma!" So you're not missing much. Well...I suppose face Vasquez is a lot more HAHA compared to the dark, gloomy "Soon-to-be wailing away on a cancer patient" heel we have in UWF now. Actually, past heel Vasquez portrayals were more of the HAHA variety too. This is probably the darkest incarnation I've written. Anyhow, Vasquez now wouldn't be running around playing grab-ass with a transgender wrestler like he did before. And I find that a very sad set of circumstances. This useless bit of handler/character background brought to you courtesy of someone namedropping Juan Vasquez.

Well... I do know one of Russian ancestry that has the name "Michail" as well as I know of another who's last name is Malakhei [but, yes, he is Jewish... Russia does/did have a fair number of Russian Jews]. |
