Now that the cycle from emo hell has finally ended, we open the new year with new hopes, dreams and all that other crap. So, where do you see the direction of the UWF going? Anyway, these are things I'm probably sure of... A World title controversy: Is Trey relinquishing? Is he going to get to defend that title one last time before he rides off into the sunset? Are we getting a world title tournament? Either way, I don't think we'll see a "legit"(non-dying) world champion for a good long while. Gamma Ray FINALLY cashes in on his title shot: Gamma dominates the women's division? It's more likely than you think! Juan Vasquez sinks ever lower into the human scum pile. Oh, it ain't gonna be pretty, folks. It ain't gonna be pretty... |

Tumaffi and Annis are going to ring up some collateral damage. And I mean "some" in the same sense that the Sahara has "some" sand, Bill Gates has "some" money, and it will be "some" time between cards. |

As someone dealing with a blood cancer myself (lymphoma, not leukemia), I'm kind of bummed at how ALL is being portrayed as a death sentence only about a year after diagnosis, like we're still the 80's. Blood cancer treatment has really advanced in the last 10 years, to the point that the majority of such cancers can either be cured or held in check for many years. Or perhaps the handler really has done his homework, this is all part of a heel-turn swerve, and the next show Trey will come out with a crew cut and shout "HyperCVAD, bitches!"

Trey DaMann might not actually be dying, but taking so many bumps while undergoing treatment obviously wasn't good for his health. ![]() Also, hope your own treatment goes well, Joe. |

I've been holding out hope of that since he told me of his plans. I don't wanna lose Trey, dammit.

The thought of that popped into my head a few times during the cycle, but while that would be incredible...no one willingly jobs to Juan Vasquez like that.

The biggest risk during chemo/stem cell transplants is infection, because the body's immune system is either weakened or nonexistant. So Juan Vasquez breathing on Trey was probably more damaging than punching him. I finished all my chemo last year. Hair loss and lethargy are now behind me, and I've been in full remission since last May.

Lets all pretend Juan Vasquez didn't wash his hands before punching Trey if that's the case. And glad to hear you're doing well now. |

Which is why I had Gamma Ray claiming Trey's faking his disease for attention. If it's false, it gives the guy a little bit of heat for being the only unbeliever, and if it's true... the brave superhero was right all along! Win win for all. |

That's the thing though. He doesn't have to be faking it. He could have been legitimately sick, gotten chemo, rads, and all of that. But he could have also played upon everyone's ignorance of the current state of leukemia treatment, and while convincing people that he was getting weaker, he was instead getting stronger. |

No, no, I got that... it's just that there's little heat to be gained by saying "he could still beat this cancer with proper treatment" instead of "he's faking! That's obviously a bad makeup job!" As this storyline started, I was often taking my father to the hospital for his prostate cancer and skin cancer treatments - now, both of those are common forms of cancer, and both relatively easy to treat when detected early but... Well, you sorta have to go along with wrestling's soap opera logic. In soaps, people don't just get sick, they fall victim to that exotic, incurable disease that puts you in a coma for half a season and have you miraculously cured when it serves the plot. Taking some liberties in just how realistically these things are portrayed in e-wrestling, I figured, is as widely accepted as exaggerated, too incredible to be done in real life wrestling spots. So long as no blimps are involved, people seem to go along with it. |

But this is 2010, which means we're going back to 1997, which means that clear cut "good guys vs bad guys" are passe again. Faking the cancer means he was being a manipulative dick from the start, and that's simple and boring. Having cancer but lying about the severity means you get that "layers upon layers" effect, that you feel sorry for the guy for being sick, but even more pissed that he's used that fact and mixed in some lies to manipulate his way to the championship. And the fact that you cared enough about him actually being sick makes the feelings of disgust that he used those feelings against you even greater than if he was just a 100% manipulative liar. (oh, and hope your Dad is doing well. Cancer sucks, no matter how treatable it is...) |
