Eight-man tag warfare was the theme of ALPHA 16: The Trenches! Who can truly win this war of attrition? ALPHA 16
The Trenches
8.7.10
[/align]

There were about 300 people in the audience today.

Fresh-faced Debut: Maurice Thompson vs. Doug Chase
Chase used his strength to dominate early, pushing Thompson around the ring, keeping the pressure on so that Thompson couldn't get into the match. Thompson's resistance was met by Chase's wrestling skill, managing to get him to the mat and lock in a camel clutch. Thompson endured the hold, crawling to the ropes to break it. Thompson began to fight back, but Chase took over once more. He whipped Thompson into the ropes and followed him in, SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE FROM THOMPSON! Thompson got his bearings back from here on in, keeping the pace up and throwing everything he had at Chase. Chase seemed to be getting worn down. Thompson hooked Chase for a sideslam, but Chase elbowed his way out, GOURDBUSTER! Chase's first win! 2.6!

Chase peeled Thompson off the mat and laid in a heavy series of shots, backing Thompson into the corner. He went to the center of the ring and charged back in for a lariat, but Thompson got out of the way! The two men traded shots, battling back and forth. Thompson began to get the upper hand once again, getting underneath Chase's swings, pre-empting them with shots of his own. Chase booted Thompson in the stomach, TUMBLEWEED -- Thompson spun away! Dropkick sent Chase back into the corner! Chase staggered out and GOT DRILLED WITH THE FUTURE IS NOW! 3!
Winner: Maurice Thompson by pinfall (The Future Is Now, 9:04)

Retribution? (y/n): Lex Fox vs. Andre Miller
The match began with something less than a technical exchange and more of an unadulterated beating. An irate Andre Miller dove right at Lex Fox, taking him down with a double-leg and letting him have it with a big volley of right hands. The referee tried to get him to back off and Miller did so, only to let the Savior of the Server have it with several kicks followed by a snap suplex that got a quick two-count. Miller went to work on Fox with a snapmare followed by something that resembled more of Miller trying to tear Fox’s head off instead of a rear chinlock. Fox escaped quickly by stomping on the foot of his opponent as he rose to his feet and made him eat a swift running dropkick for two. Fox exercised some violence of his own, driving down Miller with a quick Neckbreaker across the knee! 2! Lex went to work on the neck of Miller, twisting and turning viciously with a Cravate submission while screaming something to the crowd about newbs and the difference between a wireless G and wireless N network. Miller tried fighting back to his feet and broke free, but fell victim to another unorthodox move in the form of a kick to the stomach followed by the Rollback Driver (leapfrog rocker dropper)! 2!

After kicking out of the Leapfrog Leg Drop Bulldog, an angry Lex Fox tried for another move off the second rope. The Back Senton missed, but a Flying Leg Lariat out of nowhere didn’t! 2! A pair of quick clotheslines bombarded Fox and sent him scattering about the ring before Miller took to the skies, hitting a Flying Back Elbow, then a Corkscrew Kick! 2.5! Seeing an opportunity, Miller took a moment to scream more obscenities the way of Fox before leaping to the second rope and looking for a cross-body... MISSED! Unfortunately for Andre as he tried to get to his feet, the Kernal Crash didn’t! The Springboard Thrust Kick caught Miller right in the jaw, sending a loud “CRACK” echoing throughout the arena. The count may very well have been academic from there. However, Lex Fox pulled him up anyway, only to bring him back down to the mat with the same move he’d been attacked with last week, the DDoS Attack! The fat lady's singing! 3!
Winner: Lex Fox by pinfall (DDoS Attack, 8:14)

Pineapples n' Chips: Stephen Mathers vs. Byron Maloka
Mathers was accompanied by his brother Jay. Maloka was accompanied by Brian Jackson.

They circled around each other to start off, both teasing the knuckle-lock but refusing to actually lock up. Mathers lunged for the tie-up but Maloka snuck around and schoolboy'd! 2! Mathers shot back with a shoulder block! Mathers controlled the match for a few minutes, using his weight advantage and technical expertise to keep Maloka grounded, scoring a series of near falls as well. Butterfly suplex! 2! Mathers locked in a rear chinlock, continuing his domination of Maloka. Brian Jackson cheered Maloka on and it seemed to fire Maloka up, willing him to his feet, but he only landed a few elbows to the ribs before Mathers shot back with a knee and reset Maloka's jaw with a sharp European uppercut!

Mathers locked in a brutal camel clutch facelock, digging his knee into Maloka's back, but Maloka didn't give in. Mathers let Maloka up and shoved him back into the buckles, grinding his face before throwing a European uppercut, but Maloka got out of the way! Savate kick! Mathers threw a lariat that Maloka ducked as well, Maloka bounded to the top, cross-body block took Mathers to the mat! 1! Both men scrambled to their feet, Maloka with a headscissors takedown that sent Mathers rolling out of the ring! Maloka onto the apron, SOMERSAULT SENTON CAUGHT MATHERS AND SENT HIM INTO THE BARRICADE! Jay came charging in with a lariat but Maloka ducked it, TWISTING KICK TO THE FACE SENT JAY TOPPLING INTO THE CROWD! Maloka sent Mathers back into the ring at seven and followed him back in. From here it was Maloka's match, and though Mathers was able to put his strength advantage to use and weather the worst of the storm, Maloka was clearly in control.

Maloka hit a snap suplex and climbed to the top, FROG SPLASH -- KNEES! Mathers immediately went for the British Rack, but he pulled too far and lost the hold. He didn't give up, though, turning to a series of submissions to keep the flow of the match on his side. Mathers knocked Maloka to the mat and then pointed to the sky, scaling the turnbuckle. Maloka managed to climb up after him and the two battled on the top rope, teetering, at one point threatening to fall outside the ring. Eventually, Mathers scored a front elbow smash that sent Maloka stumbling back off the turnbuckle. Mathers shook his head to clear it, giving Maloka the opportunity to run back up the buckles, SUPER HURACANRANA! That's all she wrote! 3!
Winner: Byron Maloka by pinfall (super huracanrana, 16:22)

Jay Mathers got up on the apron, but Brian Jackson caught his legs, preventing him from getting into the ring. Maloka spotted Jay and hit the ropes, BRUCE LEE KICKED HIM OFF THE APRON AND INTO THE BARRICADE! Maloka and Jackson celebrated as they headed to the back.

Skirmish of Savage: LIONS F.C. (John Hurst, Nathan Rageous, Rodrigo De La Zed and Josh Cameron) vs. Alexander Shaw, Dash Springfield, D.R. Kongo, & Barron Ulysses
Kongo started things off for his side and DLZ for his. Kongo taunted Cameron to get into the ring, but Hurst stopped Cameron from doing so. They took the opening minutes to feel things out. Kongo managed to get the advantage, bringing DLZ into his corner and tagging Springfield in, and then Shaw, these combinations serving to wear DLZ down. DLZ reversed a whip, sending Kongo into enemy territory, then charged in and missed a back elbow. Cameron blind tagged in and charged Kongo, spearing him to the mat and laying in fists. Kongo eventually escaped and traded shots with Cameron, but Cameron was able to keep the advantage for his side, who began tagging in and out, keeping control of the match for a few minutes.

The LIONS began manipulating the referee, using as much of the apron as possible in order to isolate Kongo and do maximum damage. Despite several attempts, they couldn't keep Kongo down for the three count. They repeatedly locked Kongo into submission holds and got the ref to keep Shaw's side at bay while they choked Kongo in the ropes or stomped the hell out of him. Rageous landed a suplex and then DLZ came off the top with a knee drop, followed up by a charging senton from Cameron. 2.5 -- ropes! Cameron pulled Kongo to his feet and locked in a front facelock, but Kongo managed to take Cameron's legs out from under him and stomp his stomach. Hurst snagged Kongo's afro, boot through the ropes sent Hurst to the floor! Kongo leapt across the ring -- HOT TAG TO ULYSSES! DLZ and Rageous came in to challenge, but Ulysses stormed the ring like a bull, taking them down with a double lariat! Shaw and Springfield hit the ring, tossing DLZ and Rageous out and patrolling the border, making sure the LIONS couldn't interrupt further. The referee managed to get Shaw and Springfield out of the ring after a few seconds.

Ulysses controlled Cameron with brute strength, easily weathering Cameron's shots and responding with a single clubbing blow or vicious chop to send Cameron to the canvas. He sent Cameron into a friendly corner and followed in with shoulder thrusts to the stomach. Springfield tagged in as Ulysses kept Cameron pinned in the corner. Springfield took the opportunity to dropkick Cameron's mouth! Ulysses back body dropped Cameron out of the corner and Springfield covered: 2.5! Springfield turned to his technical background, keeping the pressure on, but Cameron was able to gain some leverage by counter wrestling. Eventually Cameron made it to his corner with Springfield in tow courtesy of an armwringer, allowing Hurst to tag in, axe kick Springfield's arm and backfist Springfield's face! 2!

The match was pretty even for some time, both sides making tags, but it was clear that LIONS F.C. was regaining the advantage, and mostly through nefarious tactics. At one point, Springfield tagged Kongo in and they whipped DLZ into the ropes. Springfield caught DLZ with a dropkick, LUNGBLOWER FROM KONGO! 2.5 -- saved by Hurst! Shaw came out to answer, but Hurst sicced the referee on him, giving him time to set Kongo up in the LFC corner and tee off with kicks, then tag in Rageous so that he could grind his knee into Kongo's face. LFC hit a series of tandem suplexes, each time with a different pair, and each time going for the cover only to be foiled by Kongo's resilience. At the last, Shaw and Springfield pulled Rageous off, TANDEM BACK SUPLEX FOLDED RAGEOUS LIKE AN ACCORDION! Hurst and Cameron hit the ring to eject those two and they were successful, but Ulysses hit the ring next, smashing Cameron into the corner, HUGE LARIAT! DLZ got into the ring next but was cowed by Ulysses's size. Ulysses turned STRAIGHT INTO A SUPERKICK FROM HURST! Ulysses stumbled into the ropes but he didn't fall, shaking his head to free the cobwebs. The referee ran around frantically, but he was finally able to restore order.

Kongo and Rageous got to their feet and Rageous quickly asserted control, landing overhand blows and grinding in a side headlock. Kongo didn't go further than a knee before he started to fight back, but Rageous took the wind out of him with a belly-to-belly suplex. 2.7! Rageous brought Kongo back to his feet and went to tag out, but Kongo broke free, STRONG KICK! Both men had to battle back to their feet once again, but this time Kongo had the upper hand and immediately hit the ropes, coming back with a sharp knee to the face. He hit the ropes again, this time scoring a jumping elbow drop. 2.5 -- broken up by DLZ! Kongo tagged out to Springfield, who dragged Rageous over to the middle of the ring and snapped down a series of leg drops. He seemed to be thinking about the seated armbar, but LFC was clearly ready to jump the ring, so he tagged out to Shaw instead. Tandem suplex, Springfield dragged Rageous into the corner as Shaw quickly climbed to the top, diving fist drop! 2.8 -- Cameron made the save! Ulysses leaned over the rope and bashed Cameron's head in! LFC started to charge the ring, but Springfield and Kongo weren't having any of it and LFC backed down.

Shaw and Springfield controlled the fight with frequent tags, grinding the life out of Rageous and constantly going for the pinfall but never quite getting it. Shaw planted Rageous into the mat with a Northern Lights suplex. 2.7! Shaw tagged out to Ulysses, who jumped over Rageous and hit the ropes, then came back, GIGANTIC RUNNING SPLASH! He's got him! 2.99 -- Hurst with the save! Shaw and Kongo entered the ring, but Hurst quickly retreated to his corner. Ulysses tagged out to Kongo, who climbed to the top, MOONSAULT! 2.9 -- ropes! Kongo tagged out to Springfield, who followed his lead with MOONSAULT NUMERO DOS -- KNEES![/i] Rageous rolled himself over to his corner, but Springfield managed to tag out to Kongo. Kongo tried to prevent Rageous from making the tag, but Rageous kicked Kongo low to free himself! Tag out to Hurst! Boot to the stomach, FISHERMAN BUSTER -- DRILLED HIM! Cover! LFC came out to block, but Ulysses mowed through them! 2.8 -- Ulysses saved! Shaw, Springfield, and Ulysses all begged for the tag! Lex Fox snuck over the barricade as Hurst covered again. Ulysses tried to get in to save again, but Fox pulled him off the apron! 2.9 -- Shaw dove to break it up! Fox cracked Ulysses over the head with the laptop! Again! One more time! Springfield spotted Fox and gave chase! DLZ ejected Shaw! Rageous and Cameron sent Kongo into the ropes, TANDEM SPINEBUSTER! 3! Springfield couldn't believe it!
Winner: LIONS F.C. (John Hurst, Nathan Rageous+, Rodrigo De La Zed, and Josh Cameron) by pinfall (tandem spinebuster on Kongo, 32:38)

After the match, Shaw and his squad started to head to the back. Hurst got a microphone and asked Shaw to wait. Hurst said he was a reasonable man and that there was no reason for this "war" to continue. He said that he would be happy to grant Shaw his title shot... if Shaw would call all this off and end his alliance with Springfield, Kongo, and Ulysses. Shaw appeared to think it over for a second, then responded: "Fuck you!" Shaw's squad headed backstage, leaving Hurst and LFC fuming in the ring.
