Emerald States Memories
"A look back on the glory years of the Pacific Northwest wrestling empire."
Hosted by Alan Parkhurst & Todd Johnstone

[Sitting at an anchor desk are Alan Parkhurst and Todd Johnstone. Parkhurst, former color commentator for several midwestern wrestling federations as well as ESGP, is a caucasian man in his late 30s with brown hair, shaven face and a tweed sports coat. Todd Johnstone is an ESGP alumni, both as a manager and wrestler. Todd is wearing a peach colored business suit with kiwi green shirt and coconut white tie. Toddy J is fat, balding and not quite young.]

Parkhurst: Here we are, the beginning of one of the most pivotal periods for the ESGP. Tonight we are showing the July 3rd episode of ESGP's flagship, and legendary, weekly telecast: "Blazing Trails". Todd, mind filling in the audience on just what Blazing Trails was, from someone who lived the experience.

Johnstone: Normally I'd call you a pinhead, teat sucking butt dumpling but for this program, I'll play it straight Parky. Blazing Trails was the weekly, regional show for ESGP from 1954-1996. By a confluence of circumstances, ESGP ended up having its show broadcast from Alaska to the Bay area and from the Pacific coast all the way east to the Denver market... up until 1986.

[Alan nods.]

Parkhurst: It was that contract that helped to keep ESGP's tape library seperate from the rest of the NAGC and out of the vault of Strickland Sports. Back to the business at hand: Blazing Trails would be taped in Portland for one month and in Seattle the next. This coincided with tapings for larger shows on their constant specialty tours. Twice a year one of the following would take place: Rage Across the Cascades (The all Western Washington tour) Columbia River Conquest (Northern Oregon and Vancouver, Washington), Middle Oregon Carnival (Central Oregon) Yakima Valley Warpath (Central Washington & Columbia Basin), Northern California Invasion (Southern Oregon and Norther California), White Caps Exposition (British Columbia and small parts of Alberta), and the Boarder Bonanza (Spokane and Idaho). Usually one tour would be in the late spring/early summer and the second would be in the late fall/early winter, with tours lasting around a month and a half of constant working. ESGP was well known for its hard workload, big tour event tapings and consistant programming.

[The sound of someone slurping an empty cup of soda tells Alan it is time to stop talking.]

Johnstone: *annoying noise* Anyhow, enough with all the blabbing. Tonight's episode features a surprise debut coinciding with a return and the ground work being laid down for what ends up becoming a war where battle lines were drawn in blood with several careers placed in jeopardy.

Parkhurst: Without further fuss, here is Blazing Trails!
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?
