The fallout from A+ littered the Prime Stage last night! Were the Militia truly defeated for good? Had the LIONS Fight Club's grip on ALPHA become unbreakable? These questions and more came closer to being answered, and we also got our first look at several new talents to grace the ALPHA ring! If you missed ALPHA 23: Graduation live on pay-per-view, don't fret, just order it on demand! Call 1 800 MOD ERNV or visit www.modernvision.com to order it right now! Our recap was provided by Charlie Reager. ![]() alpha.nearzone.com ALPHA 23 Graduation 10.2.10 "STAAAMMMMPEEEEEEEEDE!" "STAAAMMMMPEEEEEEEEDE!" "HANDS UP! HANDS UP!" "HANDS UP LIKE THE PEOPLE BESIDE YOU!" "HANDS UP!" The new theme music for ALPHA's weekly pay-per-views, "Hands Up" by Big Business, played the show in. There looked to be about 350 people in attendance. The Star Wars Imperial March played and out came LIONS F.C. as well as seemingly every trainee at Camp Savage, led out by LFC director Anton Assault. They supported two chairs which seated King of Savage John Hurst and Josh Cameron, carrying the two to the ring. The full LIONS got into the ring while the trainees surrounded it. Hurst talked about what an incredible A+ LIONS F.C. had, not only Hurst's spectacular defeat of the upstart Alexander Shaw but also Cameron's vanquishing of that egotistic D.R. Kongo, which led him to the next item of business. Assault led Cameron in his graduation vow to LIONS F.C., which said that Cameron would be a dedicated fighter and uphold the tradition of the LIONS to the best of his ability. Hurst then bestowed a name upon Cameron's finishing hold (gator roll choke): Jormugand. He said that the LFC could never be defeated. Hurst said that there would be no more title defenses, that he would be the King of Savage for life, that LFC would stand tall over ALPHA forever, and there was nothing that Shaw, the Militia, Daniel Stann, or anybody could do about it! Thai Tryout Match: Andre Miller vs. Anh Karley Kompost Miller seemed somewhat apprehensive to start, while Kompost simply had her hands up, lying in wait. Miller shot in and received a kick to the legs, knocking him to the mat. This repeated twice more until Kompost simply unloaded with strikes, battering Miller until she knocked him to the mat, at which point she mounted and drummed his face with a few more punches. 2! Kompost controlled the match, scoring strikes whenever she could as Miller tried to keep his distance and recover. After a big fall, Miller scrambled to his feet, LEAPING CORKSCREW KICK! He brought Kompost to her feet by the hair and got a snap suplex, floating over: 2! Miller brought Kompost up by the hair again, Kompost slammed a series of palm strikes into Miller's chest! High kick to the dome! 2.5! Kompost got to her feet, waiting on Miller to rise. LEAPING AXE KICK -- Miller dodged! Into the ropes, flying clothesline! Miller popped up and played to the crowd. He turned around to pull Kompost of the mat and got a kick snapped into his face! Miller stumbled around, ANH'D DOWN (codebreaker)! 3! Winner: Anh Karley Kompost by pinfall (Anh'd Down, 6:46) Backstage, a handheld camera peered through a crack in Barron Ulysses's locker room. A husky male voice commented on how alone and dejected Ulysses looked, so similar to the speaker himself, and wondering aloud how he could help Ulysses. ADD Qualifying Heat: LIONS F.C. (Nathan Rageous and Rodrigo De La Zed) vs. Barron Ulysses & Buddy Saxon DLZ and Saxon started the contest off trading holds. Saxon pushed DLZ against the ropes and broke clean. A while later, DLZ pushed Saxon into the ropes, but slammed his knee into Saxon's gut rather than breaking and rushed Saxon over to the LFC corner, smashing Saxon's face into the turnbuckle and tagging in Rageous. The LIONS worked over Saxon, barely giving him a chance to breathe. TANDEM SUPLEX! DLZ with the cover: 2.5! Saxon desperately tried to get to his corner, but the LIONS always managed to pull him back. DLZ shot Saxon into the ropes, SAXON WITH A CROSS BODY BLOCK! 1 -- Saxon scrambled off the pin! Tag out to Ulysses! Ulysses swaggered in sluggishly, but his power was enough to swing the tide of the match back to his side, knocking DLZ down several times and weathering the smaller man's running tackle attempts. However, Ulysses seemed disinterested, even distracted, and when Rageous gets tagged in he is quickly taken down by a charging lariat! Ulysses traded heavy blows with Rageous, but Rageous's tenacity allowed him to get the upper hand eventually, bringing Ulysses down to the mat where he beat on the bigger man relentlessly. He exchanged frequent tags with DLZ, both LIONS doing the damage. Ulysses seemed almost to not want to fight back, and the LIONS took full advantage. Rageous tagged DLZ in and they whipped Ulysses into the ropes, caught him and muscled him up, TANDEM SPINEBUSTER! Rageous peeled off and forearmed Saxon off the apron as DLZ went for the cover. 3! Winners: LIONS F.C. (Nathan Rageous and Rodrigo De La Zed+) by pinfall (tandem spinebuster on Ulysses, 11:03) Kevin Alloy came out to conduct his $1000 slam challenge. A wrestler from the DCWL, Alton West, came down to give it a go but he failed miserably and Alloy sent him packing! We got a short backstage segment set in the Militia locker room. Alexander Shaw seemed despondent, Maurice Thompson was lacing up his boots, and Dash Springfield was practically bouncing off the walls, obviously pre-occupied. Ed Keaton tried to get an interview, but nobody would talk to him. Deep Fried Debut: Doug Chase & Jake Landell vs. Creel Boys (Sylvester and Jonas Creel) Jonas Creel and Jake Landell started things off. Both men were high energy, bouncing around the ring, but Creel got the upper hand after a few of these exchanges and tagged in his brother. The Creel Boys used their time together in the ring after tags to double up on throwing punches or stomping Landell. They double-whipped Landell into the ropes, TANDEM LEAPING DOUBLE AXEHANDLE! 2.5 -- Chase broke it up! Sylvester jumped back into the ring and ejected Chase! Jonas tagged Sylvester in and jumped to the top rope, DEEP FRIED HOMICIDE (doomsday knee kick) -- Landell with the victory roll! 2 -- Jonas flew off the top to break it up! Jonas tossed Landell to the outside and followed him out to brawl. The ref counted to five when Chase hit Jonas from behind with a lariat, then traded rights with Sylvester! He sent Sylvester back into the ring and helped Landell up as well. Landell tried to get a tag, but Sylvester managed to catch Landell's leg. Sylvester tagged out to Jonas, who immediately charged off the ring and knocked Chase off the apron. The Creels continued their well-greased tag machine, beating up on Landell, cutting the ring in half like seasoned veterans. Landell took Jonas down with a leaping forearm smash! He tried to get the crowd on his side, willing himself back to his feet. Jonas got back to his feet, LANDELL SLUNG HIM OVER WITH A HURACANRANA! Landell up to the top, LANDELLBOW -- Jonas got out of the way! Tag out to Sylvester, who came in and dropped a running elbow! Knocked Chase off the apron! Tag out to Jonas, lifted Landell into the air, DEEP FRIED HOMICIDE! 3! Winners: Creel Boys (Sylvester and Jonas+ Creel) by pinfall (Deep Fried Homicide on Landell, 9:34) Dash Springfield came out with the Just Wrestling Championship on his shoulder. He said that ALPHA needed a champion and it was obvious that John Hurst was not going to be that. Springfield reminded everyone that he had a belt as well, and he said that from this point forward, he would defend the Just Wrestling Championship against all comers, so anyone in the back who had the balls could step out right now and get a shot. And out from the back came... newcomer Andrew Crow! Just Impromptu: Dash Springfield vs. Andrew Crow Crow tried to get the better of Springfield early on, but Springfield's agility and technical expertise put him one step ahead of Crow. Springfield cinched in a rear waistlock, German suplex -- Crow smashed his elbow into Springfield's head! Swinging neckbreaker! 2! Crow swung into a mount and unloaded with punches until the ref broke things up for use of closed fists. Springfield sought to regain the advantage, but Crow stayed on top of him, using elbow smashes and right hand shots to get his way. He went for frequent covers, but Springfield always managed to get his shoulder up. Springfield broke free of Crow and threw a dropkick, but Crow avoided it! Headbutt took Springfield to the mat! 2.5! The advantage stayed in Crow's court as he locked on a camel clutch, trying to wrench the life out of Springfield. He pulled Springfield to his feet and went for a saito suplex, but Springfield fought his way out, Crow clobbered him with a swift tackle! 2.6! Crow pulled Springfield to his feet and bashed his face into the turnbuckle. He came charging in with an elbow shot, but Springfield ducked and rushed across the ring. Crow came after him, Springfield posted up on the second buckle, BEAUTIFUL CROSS BODY BLOCK -- got it! Springfield rolled through, both men to their feet, CROW ATE A DROPKICK! Crow slid out of the ring, Springfield climbed the ropes, CORKSCREW CROSSBODY -- Crow got back into the ring, Springfield crashed and burned! Crow headed back out and utilized the ten count to its fullest, beating up on Springfield before sending him back into the ring. Crow continued his control, but Springfield began to fire back shots whenever he got the chance. Springfield ducked a lariat, booted Crow in the stomach and slung him over with a half-hatch suplex! 2! Springfield went for pins frantically, tying up Crow and doing everything he could to keep Crow down, but to no avail. Springfield shot Crow into the ropes, CROW CAUGHT SPRINGFIELD AND DRILLED HIM WITH A DDT! 2.9! Crow slammed the mat, arguing with the ref, schoolboy from Springfield! 2.6! Crow charged at Springfield and threw a lariat, but Springfield ducked! Dropkick took Crow to the mat! Crow got back up, ate another dropkick! Springfield struggled to bring Crow up to his feet, getting hit with a few shots to the ribs. WILD LARIAT FROM CROW -- Springfield ducked! BRIDGING BACK SUPLEX! 2.7! Springfield raced to the top rope, laying in wait for Crow, MISSILE DROPKICK -- flush! 3! Winner: Dash Springfield by pinfall (missile dropkick, 14:43) The Surf Ninjas, Brian Jackson and Byron Maloka, gave a short interview with Ed Keaton, saying that after that match at A+, they weren't nearly through with the Royal Lancers. They promised that soon they were going to beat the Lancers once and for all to cement their place in ALPHA. ADD Qualifying Heat: Royal Lancers (Jay and Stephen Mathers) vs. Militia (Alexander Shaw and Maurice Thompson) Stephen and Thompson started things off with a lock-up, Thompson using his size advantage to push Stephen into the ropes. The lock-up was broken and the action returned to the center of the ring. Their exchanges were fairly even, Thompson trending more towards strikes. Steve snapmared Thompson over, hit the ropes, and RAN RIGHT INTO A TOMAHAWK CHOP! Thompson was on fire, pummelling Steve with rights in the corner until the ref separated them, sending Steve to the mat with a wheel kick, keeping the advantage with a variety of strong offense. A body slam was followed by a leg drop and a cover. 2 -- Jay booted Thompson in the head! Thompson peeled Steve off the mat and went for a body slam, but Steve slipped out the back, neckbreaker! Steve scrambled to his feet and dove at Jay, getting the tag! Jay Mathers came in with a full head of steam, dispensing with the technicality in favor of brawling, knocking Thompson down repeatedly with big rights, clotheslines, and shoulderblocks. He began to employ slams as well as elbow drops and knee drops on the ground, turning Thompson over so he could really work over the back. Thompson fought back, but every shot he landed was returned in kind. Jay tried to slam Thompson's face into the buckles, but Thompson blocked, Russian leg sweep! It took Thompson a bit to get his bearings back, but eventually he made the tag out to Shaw! Shaw rushed in, BOWLED OVER WITH A RUNNING BACK ELBOW! Jay tagged Steve and held Shaw in place on the ground, SLINGSHOT ELBOW DROP! 2 -- ropes! The Lancers kept up their tag game, isolating Shaw severely and taking the time out to taunt Thompson between their moves. Jay knocked Thompson off the apron before returning to Shaw. Thompson tried to get into the ring, but the referee stopped him, which allowed Jay to set Shaw up in the Pillory (camel clutch). With the ref distracted, Stephen made a fake tag hand clap as he got into the ring and began to brutalize Shaw with kicks to the face! After a while, Thompson quit arguing and got back out onto the apron, letting the referee force the break. Steve drilled Shaw with a DDT! 2.5 -- Thompson broke it up! Jay charged the ring and sent Thompson sailing over the top! Steve pointed to the sky and climbed to the top, AD ASTRA -- Shaw rolled out of the way! Steve to his feet, Shaw booted him in the gut, BIG FISHERMAN'S SUPLEX! 2.8! Getting to his feet, Shaw threw an elbow into Jay's face to knock him off the apron before turning his attention back to Steve. He tried tying Steve up, using submissions focusing on the neck and arms, but Steve refused to give. Shaw brought Steve to his feet and suplexed him out of his boots! Tag out to Thompson, who got to the top, FLIGHT THROUGH THE WORLD (moonsault) -- connected! That's gotta be it! 2.9 -- Jay made the save! Jay kicked at Thompson and dragged Steve across the ring somewhat before getting onto the apron for the tag. Thompson kept control for a while, beating up on Steve. He whipped Steve into the ropes, set up for the back body drop, Steve kicked his chest! Tag out to Jay! Steve charged across the ring and booted Shaw in the face! Jay with a HUGE STANDING TILT-A-WHIRL POWERSLAM! The ref tried to get some order, but they shoved him aside as Steve went to the top, DIVING DOUBLE KNEES! 3! Winners: Royal Lancers (Jay and Stephen+ Mathers) by pinfall (diving double knee drop on Thompson, 20:17) |
