The second show back for the "new" Alamo Championship Wrestling, holding steady at a shade under 500 people in attendance tonight. Rhett Connors and Keith Marshall again hosted the night's events, which started off with a discussion of the upcoming Countdown show on New Year's Eve in a few weeks. They ran down tonight's lineup, including the main event which would see the former tag team champions St. George and the Dragon battling the new champs Jamie Kidd and "Overkill" Joey Malone. Skull N' Bones versus The New Throbbing Mattress Kittens -------------------------------------------------------- A week after their debut victory over Lightning Quick, the Cordova Twins picked up another big win over the team of Rachel "Arcee" Carlisle and Angela "Skullbuster" Harrison. The fan favorites thought they had the match won after hitting Aurora with the Voodoo Momma DDT, but Luna dumped Arcee on her head with a german suplex and then traded places with her sister in the ring to steal a victory with a top rope splash. WINNERS: The New TMK As Skull N' Bones regrouped post-match, the same guy who jumped out of the crowd calling himself "The Hoff" last week did so again. This time he got a hold of the house microphone and promised that he "and the Boys" will shake up ACW, before security again got a hold of him and carted him out. The Gunslingers versus Brick Rosen & H'Allen Oates -------------------------------------------------- Thomas and Sloane immediately separated their opponents, preferring to pound away on Oates in the corner leaving Rosen to stew in the corner and shout for the tag, to no avail. Tex almost beheaded Oates with the Yakuza From Hell, and tagged out to let his partner the Cowboy murderize Oates with the Sloane Star standing lariat. A three count was purely a formality. WINNERS: The Gunslingers After picking up the victory, the 'Slingers roughed up Rosen and left him laying as well. The self proclaimed "glorious Texan galoots" also let it be known that they had their eyes on the Southwest Tag Champs, Jamie Kidd and Joey Malone. Danny Holden versus Xander Keegan --------------------------------- Next up, the non-flashy Danny Holden came out for his match against Xander Keegan and proceeded to pick him apart as he did his opponents in the past. Some spirited offense notwithstanding, including a stunning backflip exploder that almost scored a three count, Xander couldn't overcome the simple barrage of strikes and kicks from Holden, and when Danny wrenched Keegan's knee with a corkscrew legsweep it left him prone for an indian deathlock and the tapout. WINNER: Danny Holden Holden once again left the ring before the referee could raise his arm in victory, his tunnel vision over competing started to irritate the crowd as he drew a few more boos. "Spitfire" Kyra Braddock versus Taylor MacKenzie ------------------------------------------------ No love lost between Taylor and Braddock after last week, as the new team of Estrogen beat down Rosalee Perez last week until Taylor showed up for the save. Braddock and Taylor tore into each other with reckless abandon here, but it wasn't long before Jayde Griffen got involved and eventually the referee disqualified Braddock outright. The two began to assault Taylor, who did her best to hold both off but was eventually left lying by Griffen's Bone Grater(Kudoh driver). WINNER: Taylor MacKenzie by DQ At this point, out came "Hollywood" Cody Jones along with one half of No Fat Chicks, "Romeo" Matt Richards. Jones bragged about how the Players Club would lead team ACW to victory in the Cage of Death, and then announced that the head games would begin tonight as Richards would defeat Team MWA Captain Quinn Murray in the ring... right now! "Romeo" Matt Richards versus Quinn Murray ----------------------------------------- Richards started off hot, looking to impress his leader by dealing Murray a rare loss. Some action focusing on Murray's neck led to a couple of close pin attempts, until Romeo spilled out to the floor after missing a corner splash. Murray took over and pounded Romeo relentlessly, folding him up with a devastating powerbomb to the turnbuckles. Richards tried to come back with another offensive flurry, but Quinn shut him down cold with a Hollywood Sidekick and then ended things with a fisherman suplex. WINNER: Quinn Murray Following the match a furious Jones got on the microphone and fired Richards from the Players Club, as well as Team ACW for the New Year's Show! He punctuated the decision with a package piledriver, leaving Romeo decimated and having to be helped to the back. The other co-captain for Team ACW came out for the main event, along with his tag team partner for a shot at the Southwest Tag Team Titles. St. George & The Dragon versus Jamie Kidd & "Overkill" Joey Malone ------------------------------------------------------------------ The teams shook hands prior to the start of the match, and went on to have a great back and forth match that almost saw the titles change hands in the first minute of the match after a series of pinfall reversals between Kidd and Adam Drake. As the teams went back and forth with the advantage, Cody Jones reappeared at ringside, watching intently. When questioned by James St. George, he shouted at his co-captain that he was just 'scouting for Team ACW'. This caused a distraction and almost allowed the Southwest Heavyweight Champion to be pinned with a small package by Kidd. In the end the match came down to Overkill out-flying the Dragon thanks to a dragon rana from the top rope to score the three count. WINNERS: Jamie Kidd & "Overkill" Joey Malone Again the teams shook hands, but Jones spoiled the atmosphere by declaring that next week he'd see Kidd and Malone in the ring, and what's more, that Team ACW would be finally be complete. An interesting curveball with tonight's show, as everyone pretty much expected Team ACW to consist of the Players Club and St. George & The Dragon. But with Romeo out, you have to wonder who the new team member will be. It was also announced that because of the UWF and MBC's PPV Heaven & Hell on the 18th and 19th of December, the next ACW show will take place in two weeks, a special Christmas Day matinee on the 25th. |
