DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU'VE READ HEAVEN & HELL NIGHTS ONE AND TWO SPOILER SPACE [Your computer is booted. The OS is loaded. Up comes the browser. Those making their way to the UWF/MBC website (yes, suspend disbelief on this) find upon the main page a large image reading: "LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE - NOON - DECEMBER 20th" And so, many click upon this link at the appointed time and are taken to a live feed of a press conference being held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, less than twenty-four hours from the second night of Heaven and Hell. The podium is a simple one, with only a small UWF/MBC logo plastered upon it. Behind the podium is a large window overlooking the mighty field and mightier high definition television that looms in the stadium. An older gentleman clad in a suit and tie approaches the podium. His demeanor is calm and his hands find their way to their pockets, a slight slouch to his posture.] Business Man: Thank you ladies and gentlemen, members of the press, for coming to this press conference. Many of these faces I see here have covered the MBC for a long time so they'll recognize me, at least if their memories are pretty good. My name is Joseph Cochrane, a former President of the MBC and now a member of the UWF/MBC's Board of Regents. [Cochrane adjusts his glasses a bit as he looks at his notes.] JC: We here at the UWF/MBC consider Heaven and Hell to be a great success. Buy rates and merchandising surpassed all our expectations. However, several drawbacks took away from the experience, most notably, the attack upon President Kyle Lee. President Lee's condition is stable, however he is in no condition to resume his responsibilities as President. It is unclear as to when he will be. The company needs direction with as we look to the post Heaven and Hell future. So, after much discussion amongst the Board of Regents, I've been appointed as the Interim President of the UWF/MBC. [The sounds of cameras taking pictures increase in volume considerably.] JC: While the merger has proven successful on many fronts, there are still many issues with its stability. President Lee had a vision. He saw that the merger could work. Unfortunately, few on the Board of Regents could see his vision. Therefor with the full support of the Board and for the betterment of the company as a whole, I am here to announce that the merger has ended effective immediately. [Camera clicks go wild, yes, even in this time of digital video.] JC: The UWF and MBC will resume their individual paths as separate brands. The Board felt that the two brands serve two different types of audiences and while there is carry over with both roster an audience, too much is lost with a single federation. There will of course be another transition period as the roster, crews and administrative teams settle into their respective brands. Furthermore, both Commissioner Allison Chambers and Commissioner Becky Carlisle-Skullhead have tendered their resignations. Whether their roles will remain as a part of either federation's dynamic is still under debate internally. Announcements will be made as soon as both the UWF and MBC finalize their respective broadcast contracts. As one of the Board members put it... "The UWF/MBC is dead. Long live the UWF and MBC." Thank you. [Cochrane steps away from the podium and the scene ends. Replay?] |
