I wrote a match, too. So that's 100% (and, obviously better than Errol)!
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

Manson is again perplexing me. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if Foley and Hartt willingly jump into the heel abyss head first by the end of this cycle. A less-dickish Manson could bring some balance back to the roster. And as tweeners go, he feels a lot less forced about it, given his history with Epstein.
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...

Okay if we want to get technical then ... I wasn't counting the impromptu and the POR-Heat little segment.

Credits were:

Don: Gionet v Cole
Rob: SCD v. Biz
Errol: Detson v. Jack Griffin!
Picky: POR-Heat deal

Me: Rest

Review:

So, apparently Rob Cole has lost his damn mind. Now, while Cole is without a doubt in the top flight of talent in the company, I'm not sure I understand this insanity angle he seems to be pulling. His just plain angry method that he was displaying against Craven seemed to be working really well... at least in my eyes. That isn't to say this isn't still good writing, but I find it doesn't fit the character as well as I would like. But, I'm open to see where this is going.

A really underrated part of the show, which is great ever time is the opening from the announcers that sets the stage for the show. I just wanted to say that I read it, and I love it every time. Good work Bell (or whoever does this).

...I need backfill on the Jack Griffin thing, 'cuz I'm Fin' lost on this one.

Hilarious fight, though. Matched by a hilarious commercial. Detson Daniels just escalated due to the loss of a title to ...no one. I'm still chuckling about this. Excellent work.

Rose/Hayes: I'm getting the distinct impression that Jacob Rose is either Black's brother... or his lover. Not sure why, but he's trying to take care of Black despite not working for him, not being his manager or nursemaid... I'm left with the conclusion that they're either bound by blood or ready for a move to Vermont.

A who's on first sketch between Hart and Cole: Again, not sure what I think about Cole doing this stuff, but it sold. And Hartt's conflict about Nevermind and his personal beliefs is showing well.

Cole/Gionet: Pretty good match, nothing to write home about... assuming you do, in fact, write home about EW matches. Cole picked up a win and continued his momentum while Gionet... I'm not sure what Gionet's up to these days that doesn't involve Foley.

Masked Maniac continues to ride a VERY surprising wave of momentum. He's got skills and just parlayed them into a title shot against Gibson. Way to go, Masked Casanova.

Nevermind comes out and speaks his piece, claims that he has a purpose... and that's to have no purpose. Aaaah, the Nevermind Paradox. It's right up there with the Stockdale Paradox. Kudos, my friend.

Heat continues hilarity and frankly, I'm begging them to finally put the PoR outta here. Though I guess many would prefer the no-shows. Easy wins and all. And Kudos for finally recognizing Hoyle as the best announcer.

My thing with Spectre: Definitely a pleasure working with a very different character there, though it was hard for AsH to keep up his normal level of stupidity.

Black/Roberts: No real lead up for Black, which is surprising... but he wins via Submission against the highly touted opponent.

L&G&Johnstone: The tag champs are taking a tongue lashing from the puppeteer of the champs entourage. It does set up an interesting angle in: How long are they going to take this? Cowards they may be, but Livestock has competitor's blood somewhere in him. Gutch may have accidentally ingested some himself, thinking it raspberry jelly.

...and the Admiral is calling me, so I've gotta cut this short.

More parts I enjoyed:

Fontana taking a beating to ensure HVD is ok... kinda really starts stacking the deck towards his face side, though the writer is more than able to use it as a heel swerve later.

SCD: Best read on the card, really. I was going to give it to Gibby, but Dos' current angle with Black would be main event anywhere else... and frankly, I think we all assume it simply is here, too.

Gibson Hayes: Second Best read, by a microsliver... This idea of Gibson as this master manipulator is shockingly effective while at the same time, he's aware that he's taking larger and larger risks to hang onto his title. When paired up against the appropriate face, Gibson Hayes can easily turn this whole angle into the one that makes him a HoFer in all of EW. As if he wasn't headed that way already.

Oh, and ...did Craven just get buried by a woman? I mean, Cole's wife is probably as tough as women come, to be married to THAT guy, but still. When I think of Craven I think of a siege of destruction and unstoppable outside of risking your own career. Not sure what my overall feeling is on it, but I know that both guys are going to make it something special.

...And for Shaundleman: I like Biz's new direction, personally, and he had a great showing against SCD. Keep working to improve and it'll finally get that major breakthrough you're looking for.

...I need backfill on the Jack Griffin thing, 'cuz I'm Fin' lost on this one.

OK- the show that started the Jack Griffin craze is the 03/03/09 Heatwave. Going for the Quick & Dirty version...

Danny Daniels walked into PVW with the SUPREME title. By coincidence, every match he ever lost was a 'non-title' affair. So he announced that on this Heatwave, he would be defending the title.

He came out, made a huge buildup of his opponent, Jack Griffin ("Master of the Dreaded Armenian Wristlock"), then started wrestling... no one.

After a back-and-forth affair for a few minutes, Sinister came out to stop this mockery, and put Daniels on the mat, triggering their feud. After the match, Griffin's name kept coming up every time Daniels wrestled.

So he's an invisible fictional opponent to a title that doesn't exist in the mind of a delusional face in an e-wrestling league.

And now he's beaten Johnny Detson to become the SUPREME Champion.

I'm wondering/hoping if this could be salvaged with a Berserkers/HEAT feud, given the Rages deigning not to do anything yet again. Frankly, it's kind of insulting to have more teams being constantly blown off by them and if it's real life stuff blocking Dare from posting, then at least have the courtesy to let Bell & Rob know.

Picky is doing a phenomenal job with Arvelle and I think having the Berserkers step up to feud with HEAT for a bit would do them a world of good when it comes to building up another face tag team.

I saw you'd replied and I was hoping that you'd shed some light on the Rose and Black are gay comment I threw in there.

But yeah, PoR, both being repetitive and no-selling anyone else is lame-o. And No showing w/o an excuse... it happens sometimes so I don't want to call out anyone on it. Though it is cool to at least drop a line.

Yeah ... I always feel sorry for the handlers who are involved in a feud / story and is trying to develop it and then the other side just decides to stop participating.

By the time I realize it ... We usually have to many other characters committed elsewhere.

We do what we can though to salvage things. Hopefully we see something from the Rage brothers this show.

Is Black gay? No. And at this stage in his career, I don't think he's capable of developing a healthy romantic relationship with anyone -- male or female. He's very much a narcissist.

Is Rose gay? I don't know yet. That's not meant to be a cop-out; it's just a case of if Jacob is gay, I want it to be organic and not just tacked on. But even if Jacob is gay, he doesn't have romantic feelings towards his client. This isn't Burns/Smithers by any stretch of the imagination. What I think Jacob has is an overdeveloped sense of duty, if that makes sense. He's like the poor schlub from Legal Aid who ended up drawing the short straw in being assigned to defend the SOB who's charged with murdering his wife and infant and all evidence is screaming "GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!". And the schlub still feels duty-bound to give his client the best defense he can anyway even if he thinks he's guilty because that's what he's supposed to do.

Or, to use another example, Tony's psychiatrist from the first seasons of "The Sopranos" -- I can stand separate it from him; I can disagree with what he does but maybe I can keep him from getting worse.

When I initially created Jacob, I wanted him there to be a humanizing element in case Black ever needed to turn face. However, it also stands to reason that the opposite could happen -- that Black can be a dehumanizing element on Rose.

Perhaps, anyways.

And here's where I pretend to be a writer...
