Happens right after Ragnarokeening.
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...

So basically the next kid angle is throwing one off a cliff?
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

But that's okay, because Fontana will use his super powers to bring it back from the dead.

...

I wonder if he can do that with TV shows too? Somebody get him a copy of Firefly.

I'd rather get Better Off Ted back, to be honest.

I want "Pirates of Dark Water" back. At the very least, give that series a proper ending!

If I can't get Firefly, how 'bout Arrested Development instead?

Maybe he could use his magical powers of resurrection to bring back Eddie Murphy or Mel Gibson's careers?

...

...

Nah, magic can only accomplish so much.

Fontana has listened to your pleas, and chosen to bring back Arrested Development... sorta.

Alright. Bell wants me to yap on, so I shall.

I always knew this one would be a tough pill to swallow, which is precisely why I had assumed I'd never write it - just keep it in the background of "things I know happened off-camera no one else needs to know" folder, the kind of thing I could make vague references to or hint at, but probably not show outright.

The idea, obviously, came as soon as Emily had to leave... it spawned a long series of events and moments that flowed logically with the context and character gimmick, including the obligatory father bonds with son because they are uniquely the same type moment.

Given that it sort of required a baby's life to be imperiled, I assumed I'd just work around this and not actually write it out. Until...
- The Josie stuff came around, showing the majority of PVW readers can deal with the issues maturely
- Bruffy needed some time off for what was put to me as an indeterminate amount of time while Bell added an additional Heatwave to the cycle. Since I didn't know when Bruffy would be back, I set up the stage for the RP, and when he came back, well... I had already put out the tease and was pretty much forced to provide the "payoff."

The most obvious issue is realism. Yet, given the character gimmick of "beating Death" and such, that's really what I had to go with, story-wise. Ironically, when it comes to realism, I'm among the PVW handlers that tolerates the least amount of shenanigans (see the Cole/Marley car accident/murder and many others)... and odds are, as a reader, I'd have big problems with the realism myself.

Which is why I had fun calling myself out on it in the RP itself: "he wears cheap San Jose Sharks track pants and a California Flag jumper[|b], not a pretty combo."
;)

So... I had to do shit tons of research. My mother, a nurse for nearly 40 years, helped a lot with how things work... however, there are a huge amount of things each individual hospital does differently, many codes and procedures change from state to state... basically forced to keep it all as vague as possible.
SIRS & septis was decided upon about... 4 or 5 months ago (I was going with some type of SIDS before that) as it provided all the things I needed dramatically speaking: starts with an infection one would go to the hospital for, then can degenerate extremely quickly, and in an infant, it can happen so fast it doesn't leave doctors enough time to intervene quickly enough. There's also the bonus diagnosis is difficult, and it can be confused with various ailments, increasing the admittedly extremely unlikely odds of medical error.

All that to try and make the patently implausible more realistic when reading, lol. No matter how anal on the details, even if I had put crocodiles in the swamps of Mongolia... one is still asked to believe that either an actual resurrection took place, or that a medical team had a spectacular brain fart - and though they are massively exhausted and overworked, it's still pretty far fetched.

While coming back to life in seemingly miraculous manner has actually happened many times in life, as did medical misdiagnosis or snafus... either are still so damned unlikely that I knew the more cynical readers (and that's a lot of us) wouldn't go along, no matter how well written (always a stretch for me to begin with).
But since it's really the only thing that would work considering Fontana's character/gimmick, I decided to go with it anyways.

I at least had some fun stringing along the more cynical minded who were starting to think I had found a way to retcon Emily and her baby out of the picture...
:D

From what I understand, some question the timing of it... but as it's an RP that requires the reader to take a big leap of faith, I certainly didn't want it with a match on the line. The timing was perfect in terms of that specific storyline... and I admit that I never take other angles and storylines into account when writing my own, I just concentrate on my own stuff (with blinders on), which may lead to some unintended clashing with other angles in the big picture of an entire fed.
I can't say if that's truly the case here, for I don't see how the Josie angle and this story relate with one another beyond one superficial commonality, but I don't mind read. No face has anything to avenge from my story, and no heel draws any heat, so it never dawned on me that it would be associated with the Josie angle.

Admittedly, though, had I known Bruffy would be back so fast, I would not have written these at all, and kept them all as secret-off-camera-stuff-that-only-I-am-privy to.
I had never intended this one to actually ever happen on screen for a reason, so I certainly can't blame anyone not quite willing to go along for the ride.

And next thing you know, we'll have someone coming into the fed as a professional mortician, who's pissed off at Fontana for depriving him of holding an expensive funeral.
