Just wanted to say next month PVW will have been open for 4 years. Until PVW, my "legacy" I guess has been a good solid run with AWMC and a few other medium runs with other leagues.

There is no way we would have made it with out all the help, interest, and hard work. There was a small rough patch stuck in the middle and I received more support then i could have imagine around here.

So I just wanted to say -

THANK YOU!

I know this messes up with the cycle but... there has to be a super show set in Phoenix at the Armory.

Well, as one of the newer guys, I gotta ask for what could hopefully be a fun question for some of you.

How far has your character come in the time in PVW? Multiple alignment turns? Changes in technique? Title wins and blood feuds? Just where has this long strange trip taken your character(s)?

For AsH, it's fairly simple.

Started with no idea what to do with him, so I started screwing around with him... eventually became a very cartoony, comedic character while forming a bond with SCD. After losing the title match, he gained a very undeserving push towards the World Title, became substantially more serious... getting his head caved in the whole way!

...yours?

EDIT: Oh, and Brian, feel free to comment on the shape of PVW over those four years.

PVW grew into more then I ever expected there is no doubt about it. Running plenty of leagues ... I assumed this would be a similar ride. The usual suspects would show interest and we would spend a good year to two just having fun.

While PVW did start with a good portion of usual suspects things changed by the end of End Game and what PVW is today began to take shape.

I've gotten to work with a lot of people I never have had the opportunity to work with. We have taken a small regional based promotion to a global storied promotion back to a cult - national league.

After Boiling Point there will have been 13 supercard/PPV's released. Some amazing stories told .. Some matches that I am really proud of.

War Games on Boiling Point still stands as the largest match I have ever written to this date and if I recall that scored just over 115k.

I know PVW hasn't been for everyone. We have lost as many handlers as we have gained ... But, I have had a ton of fun and gotten to work and know quite a few good handlers.

I hope you guys have had a little fun yourselves.

Gibson "Red" Hayes started as an eventual member of WMI; that was the original plan. Initially he had his own little entourage with a guy who played guitar and a manager: Ginny "MAGIC" Southland (I wonder what ever happened to that guy?)

Of course, trying to re-do Tyrone in a new league past 2002 was not a good idea and Gibson, frankly, sucked. So he's losing, kind of there but gets this whole little opportunity in that scramble match for what ever amount of money there is (Rick Marley wins).

...but that isn't what's important. The throwaway RP I write about Gibson standing up for America ends up finding a direction with the character. Gibson becomes a heat baiting coward bitch heel who puts up as much offense as most NFL teams (read none; PS: football is awful and its parity is having more teams become awful).

This new Gibson is made the very first Network champion (later renamed Television). A few defenses and whatnot then Gibson is thrust into a match with Chris Hartt (whom I've liked then disliked then liked again) and takes the Rising Phoenix championship (later renamed American). I figure Gibson could use a manager so I dig up Todd "The Rod" Johnstone (with his nickname basically being excised and foul mouth toned down but vileness ramped up) and steal "Big Bubba" Hayes from Errol (with E-roll's permission). I also add some other guy that's a Brit that doesn't do much so he may be on the way out!

From there it is has been Gibson becoming more of a seasoned heel with a running crue and a fun run. I've had a blast and like working with folks I never knew anything about or had run across before. I also was able to work with Jer, Don, Bruffy, Errol and Moze again. That's really the reason I rejoined - Don and company convinced me to come back to e-wrestling.

Yeah, it's their fault but I am glad I came back to my keyboard.

Lesse...

Rick Marley took a long and winding road to win his first heavyweight title, starting off actually as taking his brother Judd's place in the Wild Cards, then abandoning the 'Cards to prove that Major Damage was indeed William Craven...which earned him a 2 year feud with Bill that's been discussed elsewhere (and was lots of fun in the process).

The Wild Cards started with a different lineup, but then went back to Judd and Jack, captured the PVW Tag Team Titles off of Royal Family before I hung them after over 12 years as active characters.

The Spectre has wandered a bit from a pure evil heel to something more like an indiscriminate serial killer. He's still not a good guy (and really never can be), but he's more interested in personal psychology between him and his target than he is in hating the fans at this point, which probably qualifies as significant character development for the lunatic.

As a fan of Gamma Ray, Bell asked me to create a character specifically for PVW, so I got to work.
I wanted to make a tough shootfighter type, but not one with the typically stiff, serious Malenko/Lance Storm personality... but rather an exuberant one like Rick Flair, Piper or Savage on the stick.

Soon after the first few promos, I really started to find his voice and only the Savage influences truly stuck.

I created the Amputation from watching a GSP video where he teaches guys how to do an omoplata, and I thought the move looked super painful, and would be even more epic if a chinlock was added. In real MMA, the chinlock is total overkill, but this is rasslin'! Called it Amputation and voilą.
Few months later, Moze told me Danielson debuted his LeBell Lock in NXT, so I could remove the awkward description from my app and point out AmDrag stole my move. ;)

Um... the first angle was Fontana vs Moze's Masked Maniac, allies turned foes. Fontana plots with former jobber Maniac to win the Network Title in exchange for a title shot... but once won, Fontana betrays Maniac and refuses to give him the promised shot.
The most difficult part of this one was actually convincing Bell to let Maniac go over, as Brian could not see the guy as anything more than a jobber, no matter how good Moze was writing him. When I explained Fontana's next angle would see him go in the tag ranks, he relented and let Maniac win.
It was supposed to end with Masked Maniac reigning triumphant, but the hiatus happened. Moze wanted his MM unmasked, and the character that was supposed to do it did not return to PVW, so Fontana had to do it, and since we could now only handle 1 singles character, Moze then retired his now unmakes Jack Keening.

I can see I'm already waay, way too long winded about this. Anyways, next came a long angle with Landis (it actually merged with the Masked Maniac angle for a bit), with the central team of Fontana & Landis being essentially forced to cooperate because of a marriage. Like an odd couple, they'd enter the tag ranks until the inevitable breakdown, leading to Landis' win a T5, and Fontana's costly one at End Game 2.

That's pretty much that.

In the winter of 1995, Jeff Stein created "Mr.Excitement" Alex Extreme.

He applied to quite a few different places and kept hearing: "no".

He finally landed in the Canadian Fantasy Wrestling Federation. Upon his arrival Alex Extreme faced...Brett Young.

Yes, I have indeed known Brian _THAT_long. My first ever stable was me, Brian, and a guy who used to run Johnny Banger (bonus points if anyone's ever seen Johnny Banger outside of Brian or I).

I also pay Brian not to dig up beginning AE footage regularly. :P

I'd been in Brian's first fed: EUWF as well as AMWC.

So it was not if I'd be in PVW, it was when. There was quite a push when UEW and WMI seemingly invaded PVW but I resisted. It didn't make sense. And then one day I was talking to Trev. He's telling me Brian wants Merc to go back to having assignments and an employer.

That's when the light bulb goes off. That's when I email Brian.

The rest you're watching. :)

Brian--congrats! You've always been an amazing fedhead. I'm glad more people are aware of it than ever before. Great job!

Thank you Jeff and everyone else for the kind words. Really though in the PVW there are so many pieces that make things go here. Jer wrote some of the greatest matches I have ever seen back in the first 5-6 PPV's.

Rob has written a match on every show since the birth of PVW.

So many others have pitched in with match writing ...

Phil designed and still helps me with the PVW site even though he isn't active in e-w any longer.

And all the handlers who continue to make me look good.

I've never been a look at me fedhead. There are always tons of guys around me that make my leagues look better then they really are.

I kind of wish Revelation would return. I liked him in AWMC.

And speaking of characters that would rock if they returned: Joe Gonzo or Chris Stringer (Moze, get on Yeti), Apex, The Rose and Nate Knowitall.

I tried to bring Ryan back to the game when PVW opened. He did a RP with Brian Young back in 2008 ... But that was as far as I got. :)

He was way underrated.
