For any future Legacy match writers, they win all of their matches.

I doubt I get trusted again to handle a match. If I do one of yours ever, I'll remember this. |

It will take quite a lot to refuse a match writer! And, the match was good. The Entrance was my mistake.

Me too. Oh wait... maybe I should do something about it, huh? SHOCKWAVE: - Manson Promo: Manson was fun this show, stalking poor Uncle Frank. I am SOOO looking forward to this Manson/Frank feud. I almost called it the Manson/Knight feud, before realizing that was probably a curse that would set up Steinar to be hit by a bus or something and need to take time away from PVW. I totally killed that curse. Erm... sorry Steinar, don't cross without looking, m'kay? ![]() - Cole promo: Interesting. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Not sure my thoughts on it yet. But it makes the ending of Boiling Point make a lot more sense. - Lineage promo: Glad I'm not the only one who was thrown off here by the names, heh. But a good promo, established the framework of the team which is important. Cannot wait for Kruger to turn on Vermeer though, heh. - Legacy v Thrillers: Good debut squash. Nothing special, though it did get across the idea of Legacy being rookies... a tag guy like myself marks when inexperience is put over for rookie teams. And the "There's as many End Games as there are Widowmakers" line did get a chuckle, I admit. - Regnigh promo: Doing a real good job of getting over the concept of the team in the first few promos. Really enjoying what I'm seeing from Gold Rush to start so far. - Tiegs v Nevermind: What a hard match to write given the OOC stuff. But it was done very well considering. Nevermind gets to send a good guy packing, even though he probably doesn't care. And the homeless occupiers was a unique addition. Will be fun to see where that goes. - Talion v Livestock: Fluke or not, a big surprise upset for Talion. Caught me off guard, but not an irrational decision. Not a great start to Livestock's singles ventures... but like everyone else, I'm fascinated in seeing what happens with L&G so the long-term is more important than the short-term. And interested to see if Talion can continue his success in an even harder match next show. - 3-way Tag: Congrats to the writer, this one was chaotic to say the least and he did a good job of making sense of it all. As a handler, I thought C&C were handled pretty well here so no complaints. Sons of Anarchy winning was the right move to make to establish them as big tough heels, especially once Lineage and Gold Rush were removed from the picture. Good start to the rebuilding of the tag division, lots going on in this match. - 6-man Tag: Fun match. Ended exactly the way it should have, with HOPE going over but cheaply. Didn't accomplish a lot, outside of continuing the Manson/Frank feud which I've already talked about loving, but HOPE makes their first defense as the power stable against faces wanting to take them down and it was a fun read. And, just for the record, I'm impressed at the push for the Berserkers... they've handled their tenure well, but being in a Shockwave main event against the just-reformed HOPE is a big step up. - OVERALL: The tag division appears to be back in good shape... not an easy thing to do considering the state of things prior to Boiling Point. The Berserkers are being pushed as strong faces, and all 5 debuting teams made good showings. The show didn't accomplish much aside from that though, although again Manson/Frank really stole the show tonight and is becoming must-see kinda stuff. HEATWAVE: - Black/Spectre Promo: Well, when people are wondering how you can be more evil than last cycle... consult The Spectre for advice. EXCELLENT promo, great stuff and exactly what Black needed to keep his evil strong. Very very much liked this. - Daniels Promo: His first act as President is to... take all our money? I think we had it better with Detson. Seriously though, it was OK and set up Daniels being at ringside, so no complaints. Didn't wow me, but a good way to hype the crowd to start the show.- Phoenix v Holiday: Came off very squashy. Did a great job of putting over Holiday, but crushed Phoenix. Not sure if Phoenix is on his way out/away, but he got in very little offense. Nonetheless, Holiday looked very impressive in his debut so if that was the goal then it was certainly accomplished. Especially since he drew the attention of our President with his actions. - Wright/Dawson Promo: I didn't read hardly any of IPW, so most of this flew right over my head. I think they could have established their history with one another a bit better without so heavily referencing another promotion, so I didn't love this... but it was far from horrible, and accomplished its purpose of establishing Dawson's character and the fact that there is history between him and Wright. - Sinister Promo: This went on way longer than it needed to. The full rundown of Boiling Point seemed excessive... even as a locker room leader, could you imagine a WWE guy spending 5 minutes of a promo reminding everyone of every match that took place on the PPV that just happened? Then following it up with another 5 minutes breaking down each member of the dominant heel stable that everyone just saw formed? I do like that Sinister is getting involved in the HOPE picture, as it keeps his "locker room leader" gimmick in place and he's definitely deserving. But another promo I just didn't particularly care for. - Mercenary v Wright: Way better match than I expected here. Whoever wrote this did an excellent job. Great back and forth action, did a good job of keeping Merc strong while further establishing Wright as a force... and ended the way it should given the earlier promo, with Merc winning cheaply, laying into Wright post-match and Dawson saving. A pretty by-the-book ending, but it took nothing away from the excellence that was between the bells. - Fontana Promo: I admit, my first thought here: "Wow, this man just simply refuses to complete his face turn." It went a little long, but it's good to see that he's not focused on mere retribution. Avoiding the HOPE chaos is probably not a bad idea if he wants to continue the slow-burn on this apparent turn, which it seems is what's going on. All the elements were in place for the continuation of the story though, so it did what it set out to do.- Gionet Promo: Gionet started this well. He beat Hartt. He retired Foley. And he crushed Phoenix, the company's namesake (really, really good analogy there). And now he wants respect. Really really good start to this promo. Then comes a PVW legend, who regrettably I'm not very familiar with being recently returned to the game and not fresh on PVW history prior to 2011. But this was everything you could ask for from a "heel wants respect, here's a surprise returning face to put him in his place" promo. Looking forward to Gionet/Williams, even as a rookie who knows little of the background. - Biz v Manson: Another match that was very well done. Biz came across very strong, which he needed off the PPV loss, and yet Manson stayed his incredibly strong self. Didn't love the surprise rollup finish, but other than that it was an enjoyable match. The frogs thing at the end... no idea what to think of that. It seemed... very unusual, given what I've seen from PVW. But I'll hold my opinion til I see it play out. - HIT II: That was... a LOT of setup for a Heat squash, Pick. I wasn't around for the first HIT, so I'm reading everything with a fresh, yet open, mind. And I have every intent of giving this a chance. But I do admit... I did not read every single word, and I'm not one to usually skim. I'll go back and re-read it after this, cause I want to keep up with what's going on... but it didn't really grasp me. And I like Arvelle.- Daniels v Freeman: Wow, Daniels goes down on his first night as President? And the TURNBUCKLES OF DOOM~!!! was blocked? Sacrilege! It was a good spin around from the open of the show, having Holiday cost Daniels the match. Holiday is certainly getting right into the picture here. As for the post-match, I liked the Wright/Freeman promo WAY more than the first Wright promo. Good dialogue, good way to establish the "can't touch me" stipulation, the heel/face lines were drawn even better here than in the Boiling Point buildup/match, and the next phase of this story became more clear. Good stuff post-match. I am sad, though, that Daniels seemed to get a little lost in the equation on his first night as President. - SCD Promo: Wow... Spectre has clearly never heard of the concept of "choosing sides". Promos with both Black and Dos on the same night? He's going to help Black become the evil bastard he seeks to be, and at the same time help Dos seek the vengeance he seeks against HOPE? Talk about a conflict of interests. Another good promo here, and another worthy challenger to HOPE in SCD. My only complaint is that SCD felt so much remorse for wanting vengeance against Black at Boiling Point, and now he's shooting for vengeance again. But that's very nitpicky, overall very good stuff. - Quartermann v Landis: I didn't read any of the E v2.0, but I like the concept of the character already. Didn't love the match a ton I admit... as someone who didn't know Quartermann at all, the match assumed I knew a lot more than I did about him and could have done a better job of explaining things to people instead of assuming everyone would just "get" every reference. But it wasn't a bad match and did its job, and the finish was pulled off very well. Will look forward to more from the character. - HOPE Promo: A little long, but absolutely necessary given the developments of Boiling Point. Giving everyone a chance to make their intentions and motivations clear gives more clarification to the stable. And I got a legit chuckle from Johnstone forcing Weaver to use Gibson's catchphrase. Totally vital given the PVW environment, and all parties involved seemed believable and important. So good stuff here. - Dawson/Seiger v Black/Spectre: This looked really, really weird to me on the lineups for some reason. It made a lot more sense after the opening promo though. And the match turned out about as I expected to once I saw those two were on the same page... a brutal initiation ceremony for the new guys. It was done well and didn't come off squashy at all, given the circumstances. And the post-match Black/Hartt confrontation was definitely interesting. - Hayes v Hartt: Excellent match. Hartt's chances at the upset were portrayed very well, despite knowing that he didn't have a chance in hell at coming out with the belt, while Hayes looked like the strong champ he is. HOPE saving Hayes, with Hartt fighting them off before succumbing, was written incredibly well. The run-ins of the faces seemed a little silly given it happened once already at Boiling Point... but then the heels ran down, and the entire promotion was brawling. Very good job of establishing the chaos that HOPE's union has caused. Then it wraps up with the Detson ending, which finally gives us the Hayes/Detson feud we've all been waiting for. - OVERALL: There were multiple promos I didn't like much here, which is rare for a Heatwave... but the match quality stayed very high coming off the PPV. Clearly this week was a week for the new guys to really establish themselves, just as Shockwave was about the new taggies, and they did an equally good job of doing just that. The Black/Spectre/Dos triangle has me the most intrigued, as does how Hartt fits into that (if he does), and the Freeman/Wright did a good job of grabbing my attention as well. Plus, hearing Detson's explanation for attacking Hayes will be eagerly anticipated. So it did what a post-PPV show is supposed to do... set up a few stories, and leave lots of intrigue on how it will all turn out. Lots of new guys on this show... so it'll just be an issue of seeing who really performs well out of the signings. |

good run down on the show. I absolutely LOVED writing the Hayes vs. Hartt match, but I can't take credit for the end sequence... that was Brian, who let me handle the bulk while he had an end in mind for the whole show. I didn't know what it was but he trusted me to get it to a good point and I loved writing it. It's one of the matches I've been wanting to write for a long time. |

Hayes has been a top heel for a long time, classic heel ring technique. Hartt has been a great technical baby face. It's a fantastic blend of styles in wrestling and fun to write. I think it;s a great match. What, precisely, makes you curious about it? =) |

Just the underlying reasons on why you wanted to write the match in regards to the character's styles and their relation to one another in PVW's history. Personally, I found the match to be really good and I like the outcome. I hope my strat helped. |

absolutely. Great strategy with regards to telling me what story you wanted to express. I hope I gave you both what you wanted, because it was a hell of a fun match to write. I know I'm not great at the "Color" commentary, preferring to use that role to draw more of analysis on maneuvers and their affects... I just can't seem to capture the "root for the bad guy, jeer the good guy" mentality alot of people want. I tend to go more the Jesse Ventura route. |

HAH! We should team on a match at some point. I send you the play by play, you add the color. Fantastic. =) I'm good at the match stuff. I watch about five great matches that I think are indicative of the characters and psychology I'm hoping to write and then close my eyes and type what I see in my head. Move for move and mostly moment by moment. I love writing the technical purist matches, which is odd considering that I play one of the company's major "brawlers". My favorite writing part for this match was the pin reversal sequence. I had just spent the weekend watching the new Hart vs. Michaels Rivalry DVD and had alot of their stuff running through my head, watched some Steamboat/Flair, and it was pretty smooth sailing for about two hours on Sunday morning. |

I'd be down to write color commentary - it's my favorite thing to do during a match. When I write a match I just try to have both characters look halfway competent. I just find a song that I figure fits the mood of the match and write to that feeling. ...then I add jokes about genitals (or, in Caleb Foley's case, his dead dad). |
