Yowza! To the handler of Matt Tiegs, many of us just wanted to help out, that's why I offered to talk more about it on PMs or through e-mail. Some of us had chats about the RP and came up with ideas on how to spin from this to a cool angle. Others here have offered up ideas too. It's clear no one wants you, the handler, to do badly. I think everyone wants you to do well, and sometimes we all have to have stuff pointed out to us for us to learn things. Every single one of us has some story like that somewhere in our time in e-w. So please, dont' take stuff as a jab at you, the handler. It's about your character Matt Tieg's promo. Stick around, roll with the punches, let's make it work.

I think a lot of us have gotten used to some of the blunt opinions around here over the past four years of PVW. Picky has helped toughen us up!

You know what? I'm not going to be a nice guy about it... because I am blunt. The criticisms were valid and your reaction is pretty typical of someone who wrote that kind of promo. You want to take your ball and go home, fine. I've been criticized on this board before... and continue to get criticized quite often. I get frustrated. I get damn depressed when something I plan doesn't exactly get the impact I'm hoping for. But I suck it up, I move on, and I try to make it work for me.

And you know what? This isn't the first time you were criticized about this attitude. Back on the other topic you whined about not being the first guy to charge out of the back to take on HOPE at the PPV... boo-freakin'-hoo! You're new, you earn your stripes, or you pack up and you go home... which is precisely what you decided to do. It's a hobby that's supposed to be fun AND entertaining... not JUST for you, but for all of us who are reading your promos and having to work programs with your character. Brian has a pretty easy policy of not forcing handlers to work together if things aren't working out... the fact is that you had a slew of handlers willing to help you develop your character, feud with you, and move you into a decent picture. Instead... "Wah, I can't be the top face on my first day in? I'm going home!"

As for telling the writer not to bother... that's not your job. That's not YOUR match. That match applies to a number of other guys who also wrote promos, strats, and made plans. Again... you show no appreciation or respect for the work that other people do. I know I could have been nicer and more diplomatic, but I'm not about to treat you any more kindly than I treat freakin' Michael Bay for the gadawful travesty that is the "Transformers" film series.

Some thoughts, in no particular order:

- Craven was tremendous. I like the fact that in a game where everything is a derivative of something, and we all copy each other to an extent, there's nothing like Craven out there. From the language to the imagery, it's all fairly unique. Maybe Bill gets a sniff of the title?

- The Berzerkers are named Wolf and Doom, and are clearly supposed to be Road Warrior style characters, and they talk like distinguished gentlemen. Something's disconnected. Perfectly acceptable RP otherwise.

- I'd like the Biz a lot more if he threw a line break in every once in a while. You too Chris Hartt.

- Derek Weaver blew me away. I knew next to nothing about Weaver before I read the RP, now I feel like I can connect right away and I'm interested in reading further. Very nicely done, JC.

- Matt Tiegs. The bright side is that grammatically speaking, it was fine. A little long winded, but it was perfectly readable. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that Matt Tiegs was trying to be John Cena, or what Cena tries to be, and came off like early Kurt Angle. Could it have been spun into a pretty cool angle? Most definitely. But did it hit it's mark? Nope. He's no Sean Cage though.

- Are there NO faces in the upper card?

- I got cold feet after I apped with Dawson, and asked to take him out and replace him. But by the time Bell said yes, the card was already out, so I said I'd write one RP to at least give Spectre and Black some credibility for killing him dead. But I actually liked my going to be killed RP, and got cold feet on the cold feet, and asked to please put Dawson back in and scrap the killing. Bell was good enough to agree, and here we go.

- Sinister gives me the mental image of C-Lo Green on The Voice.

- I like how Spectre uses the royal we, and I like how the RP was set up. The whole thing had a nice aura to it. Can't say I've ever read a lot of Spectre, but that was good read, in my book. Another heel yelling at heels, for the record.

- Uncle Frank is awesomely bizarre. I don't know what's in store or where he stands on the HOPE totem pole (my guess is HOPE's chosen representative for the upper midcard) but he's fuckin' awesome.

- I admit I joined PVW this time around to see the Gibson Hayes phenomenon. Liked the RP quite a bit, although without any context or frame of reference it could be for the wrong reasons. To someone not in the know, it showed that Gibson is living the good life, but really, he's getting a LOT of help from Todd Johnstone, and at times probably isn't in control of what's going on. Todd's briefing him, controlling who's in, who's out, giving him, in his not so subtle style, advice on how to handle situations and telling him to stop being such a petulant child. If I were putting on my fantasy booker's cap, not taking into account the history between the Hayes's's and Todd, I would guesstimate that perhaps we are leading to a HOPE power struggle, and rather than someone on the outside bringing it down, it's gonna implode.

Just some uninformed thoughts.

If this fed weren't overrun with heels, I'd be tempted to app a currently unemployed German fella.

On this episode of Showcase Cow and Chicken introduce their new manager, the Drama Llama.

I just wrote a promo with a white guy from Seattle dressed as a luchador attempting to ride a cow wearing a party hat. Do you really want to give me ideas? :)
Working on new characters you didn't see a decade ago. Honest.

First Sammy Knight, now Matt Tiegs.

Debuting faces are not good at endearing themselves to the PVW roster, are they? :P

It DOES help if you're willing to make yourself a joke to begin with.

Anyways. I know I'm late to the party... but I worked a 68 hr week and have 2 kids under 3 so GET OFF MY BACK...

Yeah, anyways. I just talked to Bell about this and I suppose I can see both sides fairly well.

It can be assumed that faces are SO rare, that with an adequate amount of hype, it seems only logical that SOMEONE fill the void, so why not you?

But...

PVW is a very 'professional' EW arena. Despite people 'not taking it seriously' they definitely DO take things fairly seriously. There are (unwritten) rules about what to do and what not to, a strict sense of decorum and workrate. And the honesty is brutal.

But it's necessary.

AsH had some unpleasant criticisms. I still have the sting of a non-amazed Dro review on my mind.

But it's caused me to improve every time.

Hell, I know everyone was scratching their heads at the idea of AsH vs. Gibson, but by taking in all the criticism EVERY time, I think I made it so it wasn't a TOTAL waste of time, right?

...RIGHT?

ANYONE?

Well, I'm hoping that Tiegs gets over this momentary lapse in judgement, comes back, and takes the criticism for what it is... Helpful. Improvement or even angle alteration is a great thing.

I, for one, would LOVE a delusional early face later tweener/heel like Angle.

The "unwritten rule" of not challenging the top champions and calling out all ME guys, it has to do with how the landscape has changed in e-wrestling, in this circle at least.

The landscape now is collaborative storytelling. E-wrestling isn't the competition it used to be, which is why we see less and less calling out of top guys and tolerate it even less than in the past.

Understandable... I was just assuming he was coming from a background or efed that this wasn't as frowned upon, I guess.

This was a common tactic in the late 90's in a lot of leagues ... However, to be fair I tried to warn Matt prior to his debut in the PVW that this wasn't an accepted thing among PVW handlers.

Perhaps, I wasn't clear enough.

I also wanted to make the following statement: If you can't have fun in PVW, you can't have fun anywhere. There collection of great handlers with good senses of humor who GENUINELY want to tell a good story? Unbeatable. I've never been pushed so hard to improve while at the same time been genuinely enamored with almost every storyline on the card.

This is the best, primarily male, geeky soap opera place ever.

It's getting better... I'm pretty swamped around the holiday shopping spree. Making sure everything on all the web servers continue to run smooth.

Sorry!

I've given a lot of thought to what went wrong with Tiegs, and can only come to one conclusion about the proper course of action to ensure it never happens again:

ahem.

I blame Stone.
