VON BRAUNS ASK FOR BOYCOTT AGAINST AMERICAN WRESTLING ALLIANCE

Huntsville, Alabama, December 21 2011 - The Von Braun family has asked professional wrestling fans to boycott American Wrestling Alliance (referred to AWA hereafter). The Von Braun family asks this due to the egregious assault on Scott Von Braun at the SuperClash III event held in Southaven, Mississippi at the DeSoto Center.

The Von Brauns disagree with the level of violence which has become common place in the AWA over the course of the past year. They feel the Championship Committee has lost the ability to ensure a safe work enviornment with the recent assaults on Scott Von Braun, Alex Martinez, and Juan Vasquez. The Championship Committee has seen fit to suspend other individuals guilty of less infractions, but have taken no action against those in guilty in assaulting the names listed above. The Von Brauns are asking the loyal fans of AWA to boycott the promotion until such a time as the Championship Comittee has shown they are able to maintain control and take action against those who are guilty of gross infraction of the rules and regulations of the promotion.

The Von Brauns did not wish to call for a complete boycott, but they feel they have little recourse as they explore legal options for punitive damages. The Von Brauns also ask the loyal fans of AWA to write to Jon Stegglet, as a representative of the Championship Committee and acting Commissioner, to voice their disapproval at the very least. The Von Brauns understand there are many wrestlers who represent the very best of professional wrestling currently employed by AWA. The family does not seek to hurt these individuals or their livelihood, but see no other recourse in this matter.

The Von Brauns ask the contracts of Percy Childes, Steven Childes, and Daniel Tyler be terminated due to their involvement in the assault on Scott Von Braun. The Von Brauns ask AWA to operate on a platform of transparency to show the Championship Comittee is actively punishing those who are guilty of infractions. The Von Brauns are asking for disclosure on fines and suspensions as proof of punishment. The Von Brauns feel if the AWA complies with these requests, the Championship Committee has established proof in ensuring a safe working enviornment. Failure to comply with this will result in the Von Brauns exploring every option available to them to force AWA and the Championship Committee to re-evaluate the current punitive system in place and make the necessary adjustments to ensure a safe working enviornment.

A statement from Paul Von Braun:

"We don't want to put the AWA out of business. That's not our goal. We feel we have no other recourse but to put the big squeeze on a wrestling promotion who has more assets at their disposal than we do. We are asking the Championship Committee, and Jon Stegglet in particular, to punish those reponsible for these heinous attacks and to give some measure of assurance something like this will never happen again."

Winchester, Smith, & Wesson was founded in 1996 and has worked closely with the Von Braun family, acting as legal council for the family and individuals of the family. The Von Braun family is closely tied to the Huntsville, Alabama community. The community has come out and shown its support for the family during these dark times.
