I hate that "if it doesn't happen here, it didn't happen" mentality. I don't mean that in characters coming in and referencing all of their past feds and accomplishments. I like it when the announcers mention a character's past. Yeah, there's a fine line there, but I always felt treating a character as "new" when they had a storied past in e-wrestling wasn't fair to that character (see Ricky Steamboat's run in the early 90's as the Dragon). Cole's name and fed dropped resonated stronger with me simply because I was there for most of it. Aside from obvious name drops, I even got the un-named references ("Made in America" is Alex Wallace, Brit flag-waving loyalist is Robski, and the truck driver champion I think is Peterbilt [am I right, Mark?]). I'm totally reading this as Cole has finally been broken or is about to be broken. This is an aspect of the character I've never seen. As far as family goes, I agree with Doran (answering to pot or kettle now). I think seeing wives and children being tossed into a feud is too much. It's too much soap opera for me. With what I did in AWA recently, I'm sure I fell off the fine line I was trying to walk. |

What about cut with a scythe and German suplexed over the top rope onto a boulder? Maybe have nitric acid or itching powder thrown on... wait. The acid and powder were me. Carry on. |

@Katie - He meant Warsteiner, I'm sure. @Brian - That just means he was an irishman with taste. Also, previous statements about the inferiority of favorite sports teams are extended forthwith to include any sports teams of anyone who has ever disagreed with me. This includes me, as I have made the mistake of changing my mind. |

Just you all wait until I start introducing the 78 members of Da Cow God's family. ![]() As far as the "it didn't happen here" discussion... I pretty well walk the line here. I agree that overuse of what happens in other feds doesn't really do anything to strengthen a character, but I also don't pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist either. In C&C's debut promo, the "Can I get my pretty back?" line would make sense to anyone who read DERP, but was subtle enough that most everyone else paid little attention to it. Jer did a good job referring to Quartermann's past fed history without making it overwhelming this week, and I'm even OK with the specific fed-dropping in the Rob Cole promo. They were subtle and helped define the character without going too far over the edge and making it the point of the promo. On the other hand, I think the Manson promo didn't walk the line quite as well by making his UEW accomplishments seem so important, as they have little to do with what he's trying to do now... I know what Berger was going for there, I just don't think the execution was excellent. It's a very fine line to walk if you are going to do it, and I freely admit it's a difficult line to walk that I've ended up on the wrong side of many times in my past which is one reason I tend to err on the side of caution. But I don't think pretending everything doesn't exist is necessary... I understand that WWE does it, but I actually hate that fact about WWE. Taking an indy star and letting him become a mainstream star should be a source of pride for a major promotion, not something to be ashamed of. It irritates me when they pretend they created a guy like CM Punk, or when they take a perfectly talented wrestler and repackage him with a lame gimmick or name so marks who Google his name don't pull up a long history of his past non-WWE accomplishments (see also: Bryan Danielson). Anyway, rant over... back to my half-finished Showcase review.

What happened to Caleb Foley? I don't want to open any wounds. I remember he was pretty much everywhere in PVW when I was paying attention a few years back. |

The handler ... decided to cease all contact in the middle of writing assignment ... and a feud. Just avoided Rob and I all together. |

It has been a while since I read it, and I don't have it here in front of me. So I think sharing what I actually remember will be a good cue as to what stuck with me. - Legacy: The concept makes it hard for these guys to 'get over' with me. I recall this basically being an Alex Wallace RP. - Nevermind: He wins. Sorry, John. Oh, wait, you agreed with me. Never mind. (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) I think this was my favorite RP on the packet. - Freeman: I was a bit embarrassed as I expected Quartermann's tag partners to do the usual "stay out of my way or else" heel team thing. But no, Adrian was in the old-school "heels as a marginally unified front against good guys" mode. I'm sorry, Adrian. (Kevin's not, but he's an ass) - Manson: Yeah, an off week. They happen. - Gibson Hayes: He's the champ for a reason. - Uncle Frank: All I can think about is what could have been, had Steinar continued to use him after OSW evaporated. He was awesome in 2003(?) and he is awesome now. - Fontana: Unlike Picky, I like Fontana. We don't all hate him, Flouze! Just Picky! And he hates everybody! Even children! - Cow and Chicken: Uh... I miss Fire & Ice. Is that a nice way to say "I don't care for this team"? I think so, because it implies that it's not because the handler can't write. I just don't see the concept. I guess I know how the PAIN-haters felt now. (which is why I don't like to admit any of this, because Jerod was always supportive) - Talion: I like 'new blood' and I think we haven't yet seen the potential of this character. It will show when he gets into the mix, gets some feuds and becomes involved with other characters. - Craven: Dex' argument was extremely weak, all things considered. Still, one had to somehow handwave why Craven has never gotten a title shot. |

@El Dandy: Right on all respects. @other comments: I like criticism and I /will/ sometimes address them in my promos. This isn't the first time I've done it, it won't be the last time. I think it's a good bit for the people who write about my character and shows that I'm paying attention and appreciate their feedback. Regarding history: A characters history is important... but I'm not going to sit there and list my accomplishments, the matches I've won or lost, or brag about stuff for the sake of dropping names. I addressed Rob Coles' past because it was important to both his state of mind and the current storyline he's involved in. He's being haunted by someone from his past, he's going to try and remember everyone from his past... it only makes sense. It also gives a little mark-out moment for the readers who remember stuff from both Rogers' old fed and the AWMC, as well as others where Cole has been. Family: I don't intend to use them in the near future, but nothing is out of bounds. IF I think they serve a purpose to the story:( And having a monster threaten your family is a driving impetus to a fight, ask any man with a family) they will be utilized. They are a part of the character. |

Were this RL wrestling Yllana would've left Cole for Craven and Bill would've adopted Bobby. The sad part is that when that happens IRL it's usually actually true. EG - Edge/Lita/Hardy and also Angle/Jarrett. Next on SICKSADWORLD~! |
| And it was at this moment that the entire world realized, in unison, that tandem bicycles were AWESOME~! | |
