The show opens with a promo for the “curses” character, set to debut on Shattered Dreams. Slow build and he has my interest, but if he’s coming back then I have no idea who it might be. Repackaged Foley, maybe? Holliday? Martinez?

And some opening comments before the next tag match, and we see Talion in the background. Interesting… Awe Inspiring honestly didn’t do much to make me feel that way but whatever.

Legacy vs. Awe Inspiring

GREAT ring work written out here with Legacy doing some great work in bringing tag wrestling back to basics. Shades of the Midnight Express and Andersons, focusing on a single body part and setting up one move after another with a series of very quick tags. A bit of grandstanding costs them and Wallace sells the heck out of those rookie mistakes. Good job building these guys up…

Merc promo with Hoyle:

Merc does a good job of selling his impending path of rage and he makes a lot of great comments regarding the time he’s been with the fed and his lack of title matches. Rookies beware!

Hudson vs. Livestock

The angle with Livestock and Gutch is one of my favorites in the fed right now, and I love how ‘Stock is selling the concern for his best friend and partner. Some jawing with the fans from Hudson and I’m still not sure if this guy is supposed to be a heel or a face, but he’s coming off very snarky in this match. He’s selling like a heel and I’m more apt to root for Livestock here, whose concern for his partner puts him in a much more sympathetic light. Match goes on and ‘Stock gets caught from behind after the distraction, frustrating his partner and building this angle a little more.

HEAT comes down and… is confusing as ever to me. I think it’s good for what it is, but I’m sort of lost when you start throwing in a bunch of other people who aren’t going to get in the ring. But why would Arvelle want to take Nevermind? Oh, wait… no… that was probably just a misinterpretation. =)

Jessica Marshall with Heath Dawson:

Solid. Unlike others, I’m not quite sick of Marshall… it’s just a character, after all. But Heath Dawson sets himself apart in this promo and does an excellent job of cementing himself as a face with this work. I’m ready to start believing, but he still needs a good feud to work him up.

Talion vs. Black

EXCELLENT!!! And I love that Black used a foreign object! Rose is used sparingly in this match, just enough to get that distraction bonus and give Black some heat… but it’s all heel heat from here on out, and Black picks up a disqualification but shows no remorse as he just NAILS Talion in the jaw. Wondering how Talion will sell it in coming shows, but I /love/ Black in this segment as the truly despicable heel.

Hoyle promoting the JTF Blammies or whatever they’re called… funny, but not my cup of tea.

Gionet vs. Cole

My match… you tell me? Did this match do the work it was supposed to? I think it came off pretty good and brought some needed focus to the dizzy spells being more of a physical thing than some sort of psychological crisis of identity. Gionet gets to gain some momentum as he goes on a rampage, destroys a former champion, and then the mystery man makes another appearance… EEK!

And we have a promo and a main event:

Good stuff… but I feel like there should have been one more match after it. It just ended the show with a dangling thread and seemed slightly off. I loved the match, loved the work from all the teams involved, and I liked that ASLL is getting some more attention in their deal with PVW. It adds some dimension and gives options. But, in all, I think the show could have benefited over-all by throwing in just one more decisive match to put an exclamation on it.

Best Shockwave to date otherwise.

- We open to a Linkin Park song and I just wonder if they're dead yet. And if not, how can we rectify this state of affairs?

- Ah yes, the plagues of Egypt. Frogs, and then Locusts. What does Moses have against PVW, anyway? It's not like they enslaved the Jews or anything. Someone should ask Max about this. Seriously though- it's a good promo, and it does build up some steam behind whomever it is. But I find the frogs/locusts in the ring to be a bit over the top. I mean, what's gonna happen when we get to the rivers of blood? Or the death of the firstborn?

- Quick words from Awe Inspiring, who seem to inspire more pity than anything, as they are set to be fed to...

- Legacy, who look real good here. The two wrestlers are good at selling us on their rookie exuberance, while we see Wallace as the teacher doing all he can to rein them in a bit before said exuberance bites them on the ass. Awe Inspiring lose this match, by the way. As for the match, it did what it was supposed to do. And it does it well. A very good way to start the action, I thought.

- And now we go to Fred Hoyle interviewing Merc. Basic gist of the interview- Now that he's taken out Epstein, he's going to fucking destroy the new arrivals in PVW, logic being that without them, PVW will have no choice but to start giving him title matches. Who can argue with that? Hell, I'm not gonna! Actually, I really liked this promo. In part, it was good because we get to see Merc without Marshall interjecting. On the other hand, it was good because as I read it, I definitely got an, "oh, shit..." sense from PVW's hired gun.

- And now...we get to Hudson V. Livestock. The real story behind this match isn't the return of Hudson, but the ongoing story between Livestock and Gutch. Having said that though, and read Cole's comments prior to writing this, it has to be said: I wish I'd written my strat better. I wanted to balance out his innate cockiness with his actual fear of being in that ring. My review is mixed on that, but hey- I still thought the Flair Flop spot was awesome! And to my surprise, Gutch shows up to help Livestock lose. Somehow, I get the feeling that Gutch is the guy Johnstone's been recruiting all along. REALLY looking forward to how this plays out. Livestock and Gutch have one of the more compelling stories in PVW.

- And now we get the HEAT V. The Leech Brothers. And if I drink enough booze and squint just right, HEAT and Arvelle look an AWFUL lot like Carnage a Trois, circa 1998. And the Leech Bros. look like Fat Chinese Roundhouse and...Fat Albino Spectre? Either way, all that comes of this is HEAT win because FCE and FAS' Rascal scooters can't get them to the ring fast enough...I guess. HEAT get jumped by Nixon and Mao Tse Tung in what was a funny but unnecessary segment. I liked it though.

- Aaaaaaaand, we have Jessica Marshall. I suppose what she lacks in anything resembling a dynamic personality, she makes up for in money. Which she proves by giving a payoff to Heath Dawson, though not before giving a standard manager promo (you know, gotta take risks, make waves, garner forces, et cetera...). Dawson has no interest in Marshall though, which puts him right there with the rest of us. Now, I understand the point of this segment well enough (Dawson being his own man, and oh yeah...Jessica Marshall has money). And to be honest, I don't think Marshall is terrible. I'd honestly like to see more of her, in hopes that the character can find a voice. Any voice. I liked Dawson well enough though.

- And now, we have Talion V. Christopher Black. I dunno what to say about it. I wrote the match, and tried to do the best I could. I tried to sell Talion as a tough SOB, despite a perceived naivete while furthering Black as a badass mofo. I went with the brass knuckle finish because well...I liked the "old school"-ness of it. Sooo...what did you guys think? As an aside though: Black's entrance music is FRIGGIN' AWESOME! Talion's? Erm...naaaaaaah-aaaaaaaht so much.

- Next is Fred Hoyle shilling for votes in the year-end awards. Oh yeah...and Hoyle's sticking Li'l Freddy in Lester's wife. Did you know that?

- Now, it's Cole V. Gionet. Annnnnnd wow. Cole has discussed selling injury and such before. And were seeing it here, as The Outcast clearly suffering from Post-Concussion syndrome, not to mention all the other laundry list of injuries suffered at the hands of Craven. Gionet is of course, capitalising on the injuries as he looks to find himself some clear direction. Gionet wins here, of course, in a match that was pretty excellent. This match shows that you don't need a lot of high spots and death-defying gimmicks to make a great match. This was my favourite match of the show because I'm sold on Cole, and am rooting for him to recover and find his path in PVW once more. Gionet I'm not quite on board with yet, but we shall see.

- The post match bit though? Not sold on it. Honestly the scripting was good, but the theatrics killed it for me. Another we shall see bit.

- And here's the final match! And I don't care what other people might say, I'm really liking the Berserkers. They evoke images of the Road Warriors, and in my book, you can't go wrong doing that. Max and Sal are their opponents, natch. Still no word on whether Max knows anything about the biblical plagues in PVW, but a source tells me that he DOES know what the queers are doing to the soil (A no-prize to anyone who gets that).

So we got Max and Sal V. The Berserkers. which for me is like chocolate fighting peanut butter. We open with some words from the Beserkers, who proclaim that their love for Max and Sal is like a truck...oh wait! That's not it. Actually, they give props to Max and Sal for being awesome, but they aren't here to play second fiddle. They want the PVW tag straps for themselves.

The match itself is actually an excellent teaser for the impending PPV rematch to come, as both teams hit each other with everything they got and still keep fighting. If it weren't for the intervention of the ASLL invaders, this would have been one of the best matches I've read this year.

But you know what? I thought the no-contest was the perfect way to end the match. Sometimes, we need a cliffhanger to keep interest. And adding to this, if the match were allowed to go on to a decisive conclusion, it would have lost heat for the tag titles down the road. It also helped to work in Los Rudos and Death Dealers both in ASLL and future PVW events, so there is that.

Overall, I loved this show. Kudos to Rob for getting this out there.

Hey wait a minute what's up with the shot at where I live?
Thanks to Mark and Tracy for the reviews. I appreciate hearing comments especially considering I write at least half the matches., so again thanks to Rog and Tracy for helping out since let's be honest I would still probably be working on it with the holidays here.
As for the Hudson Livestock match I didn't realize I was making him so snarky in the match, so that was probably my fault. I also played off of moze's app where he says Livestock is easily distracted and after his reaction on Showcase I figured it would make sense for him to be distracted by Gutch longer than say a fan.

River of Blood will be replaced with "Large geyser of blood that falls from ceiling on to innocent victim (ie. prom scene in "Carrie")

Death of Firstborn -- see Perry Fontana or whoever it was whos kid somehow cheated death.
