Lesnar made lots of money in MMA, therefore he had a great career. :spam:

Lesnar made lots of money *for* MMA, therefore he had a great career. :spam:

I think that was a little more accurate.

But be warned. Trolling me into MMA stuff usually yields very long and boring tirades.

He made $400,000 a fight plus a cut of ppv each time. Not a bad gig if you don't mind getting punched in the face. Plus all he seems to do is live in the wild inbetween getting parts of his intestine removed.

Oh, I didn't say he didn't make money. I said he made tons of money FOR MMA. More than pretty much anyone else, especially in so few fights.

for me, Lesnar interested me in MMA because of the WWE connection.

He kept me on board because he didn't pussy-foot around and actually went after his opponents instead of tapping gloves and waiting for them to slip up. He went straight after them, and beat the hell out of them.

His fights were generally exciting, as opposed to the 5 minute hug fests I usually see in other fights.

Will anybody take an arrow to the knee?

And why are Draugr Deathlords so hard to kill even when you have maxed out your levels?  grrr....

Because you haven't found all the Riddler Trophies to unlock all the extra stuff yet.

i knew this was your post before I even saw the username :P

Try using your healing companion.  You should get them by the time you finish Act I of your class story.

Healing companions?

WHERE?

WHO?

TELL ME NOW!!!!!!!

Sith Warriors get them at the end of Balmorra.

Lesnar quitting something after his incredible initial success fades away? That's unpossible!

Yeah, being the fastest rising world champ in history and overcoming diverticulitis the first time to defeat Shane Carwin.

What a pussy!

Apparently there was some miscommunication here.

I thought you were talking about Skyrim when you mentioned companions that can heal. Thus my excitement. I was hoping to find a questing partner that did something besides stand in doorways. But thanks for the answer!

I play WoW. I don't really want to try Old Republic. Hmmm... that gives me an idea for a new thread...

If we got kicked by Overeem like Lesnar did we would crumple like an accordian too... or just be plain busted in half.

i watched the weigh in and I could tell Lesnar wasn't in it 100%. But I give him props for going out there and going after Overeem [even cut him] but Lesnar's heart wasn't in that fight.

As for his MMA career overall. There is alot of guys who have been doing it longer and didn't even get a sniff of a UFC title. So I say it was success.

And i agree with Terry, he made a ton of money. Prolly around 750,000 a fight including ppv percentage and such.

Now Lesnar v.s Taker at WM!

Thoughts?

He made well over 750k per fight. I think after the Mir fight he averaged around 950k. For the Couture, Mir 2, and Carwin fights he made 1, 1.05, and 1.2 (my numbers are foggy, but Sherdog has them) due to his share of the PPV numbers.

But my case of him making more money FOR the UFC than anyone else: He has 3 of the top 5 (1, 2 and 5) and #6 as well for highest UFC buys ever. He dwarfed Liddell/Ortiz 2 (previous high water mark) by almost 600k buys... that's saying a lot, considering he had only had 6 fights under his belt when facing Mir and 7 for Carwin.

To consider his career anything less than a breath-taking success is short sighted.

A. He never faced anyone that wasn't ranked in the top 10 since Herring. Yes, at that point, Herring was ranked in the top 10 from his great showing with Big Nog. Mir 1 - 3, Mir 2 - 3, Carwin - 3, Couture - 5, Velazquez - 3, Overeem - 2. Some people dip a toe in and wade gently towards the deep end. Brock did a fucking swan dive...

B. He made more money for the company in his 7 UFC fights than any other fighter in any 7 fights THEY have had. Hell, you could probably jump the number up to 9 and he'd still beat most.

C. Folding to Cain Velazquez and Overeem via strikes doesn't make him pathetic. It makes him human. # of people to survive Overeem's strikes since moving to HW = 0. Werdum doesn't count, because flopping into guard is tantamount to giving up. # of people to survive Cain's onslaught = ZERO! Junior shot first and he won. No idea how it would've played out otherwise.

I talk to Brian about the match and having fought myself (amateur) I'm pretty sure I understand what happened. Brock was as close to 100% as he would have ever been. Brock was very confident that he could survive on his feet and get a takedown.

And then Brock took a shot from Alistair.

At that point forward, Brock looked hesitant, scared even to get hit again. Overeem has been said to hit with "Scary" power, from multiple sources. Since Lesnar is not a striker to begin with, getting hit with (I hate the cliche) K-1 level striking SHOULD worry you.

From that point forward, Brock was either flat footed or on his heels. He took so many knees to the chest that he was afraid of the double leg takedown...

Fear does fucked up things.

But it certainly doesn't erase a career in which you stuffed a sack full of money while making your bosses boatloads as well.

Brock's career was a success unlikely to ever be seen again.

...but I'm up for watching Bones Jones try.

Depends on how you want to judge "success" ... A great business investment by the UFC. And he was a hype machine that had a little time in the sun.

But, he never goes down in the history books as one of the best ever. From many stand points it was a success for the UFC and Brock. However, he always had the potential to be one of the best ever.

And the last memories I have of him in the cage is getting dominated.
