I want to do an audio review, but my mic sucks and then I'm just copying Picky and Dro. I don't have patience for a written review these days. |

HEAT: Sam and Mal, baaaahahahaha. BESTEST friends with the Robot King! NAME DROPPER! I'm'a calling you OUT Arvelle! The Can I finish thing had me actually laugh out loud (I'm a big Archer fan) in my office to many bewildered looks. THANKS Picky... dick. Fun promo. I can't figure out why they're not more popular yet. Seiger: I'm very upset that "ThatGuyJD" didn't post. But Sticky and Jeremyatwork did. And no Flou-wers or Mows. Ok, to the serious review. This promo was brilliant in its simplicity and creativity for taking an obvious thing we all know and ...doing something with it. I LOVED it. Funny in the dialogue for the different posters. Sticky seems to skim things, though. I loved it. Kinda tied with Supreme Wright for my favorite ones so far. Gionet: Great change of pace. SCD/Fontana: So fun. And SCD showing real backbone in forcing Fontana do to as he's told. Wow. Somebody's wearing their man pants today. And of COURSE those man pants still don't match the man shoes or man belt. Fun promo that proves that ANYONE hanging out with Dos is that much of a better face. Talion: He's revealing more and more and really playing up that he's repentant for something that we just don't know yet. I think it's a solid promo that he can still stand to improve from. Going over and over someone's name is not something I really like, as names mean little. And this is coming from the handler of AsH, a guy ridiculed for being a Pokemon character and using poor capitalization. Lineage: Didn't I review them---wait that was Legacy. My mistake. Whoa, Kruger talking a bit more. Kruger KILLED as the somber, fallen one. Wow is he good! We called for more Kruger and dammit, we got it! HELL YEAH! Hartt: Whoooa-oa-oa! PISSED at Black! Basically calling him a COWARD! I'm not high on the excessive use of a single !, but hey, at least its not the Shootfire !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must say, though, the fact that he's shouting that he's PVW's avenging angel? Fucking MONEY! ! Got a bit murky talking down to HvD, but also said that he respects the man's abilities... even if he is a coward. All in all, Hartt's jumping up near that needed level of greatness. He's having trouble grabbing that bar (I'm imagining it a pull up bar. Wrapped in tape. Kinda dirty tape, but it still works) but he's getting closer EVERY week. Keep taking those Flintstone vitamins, Hartt. 10 million strong and growing! Anyone else follow that train of thought? Nice. Chance Holliday: I've made no mistake that I think up to this point Chance Holliday is Spectre 2.0. But this one... I dunno, it kinda looked different. Very good, to the point, and while SIMILIAR to Spectre, still, it wasn't a carbon copy. Not even a BCC. I liked it. Cow and Chicken: Before I even start reading, I'm BEGGING for no obnoxious phrases from the avian one. The bracketting is so much fun with this one, as usual. I lol'd a bit, actually, again, got odd looks in the office. I think they do just a fantastic job as a comedic team and so good, in fact, that they've been rendered invisible to any Prophet of Rage. FREEDOOOOOM---Sorry, FREEMAAAAAAAN: Do we seriously know that his pores are as clean as they've ever been? Man was that distracting for me... So, Freeman's a dick. This we know. He drives the point home by being a dick and claiming that if the world was nice, Dos would be our champion. DAMN YOU FOR RUBBING THAT IN OUR FACES! Hayes vs. Dos for the title. Winner: The fans. Back to the promo. It was a great little piece, furthered the idea. All we need is a great promo from Dawson to round out the new guys crew... and hey, here we go: Wow, meeting Merc on his level, calling him a whore! No love for Merc today... I love the idea that he's taking this down to dollars and cents. Wow, Dawson's breakout promo too! The talking down of him clipping peckerwoods and Christ being a corporal was FANTASTIC! Got close to running looooooong, wait, nope, perfect. Heath's taking the fight to the Mercenary. (I personally recommend the Spider Monkey) A great promo! Weaver: What a chump-sicle. Manson: If you say you're going to be succinct, then when my browser is in full screen mode, I should see the next promo at the bottom after 1 roll of my mouse wheel. Liar! Ugh, Bite me? Isn't Manson a badass? Why would he talk like a 13 yr old. Uuup, now talking about past times in far away places. I think this was unnecessary as it could've been used in vague terms, kept much shorter, and still gotten across the point where he likes starching people. Man, I think this promo was a step backwards, really. He was on such a streak of improvement and working with Frank seemed to be giving dividends and then... backwards movement. And the closing line just... what? Are you Steve Greedy's pal? Don't get it... HvD: Living the high life, talking down to Craven, both good things. But some of the lines began to circle on themselves and sound repetitive. The parts about Hartt were solid, forward, to the point. He pulls it out at the end... though I'm not sure what the smashing of the bottle was to accomplish. Fontana: A fan of Hockey, apparently. I guess going to Canada, it makes sense. Man, the fact that a Zamboni guy actually pulled the crux of Fontana's funk out is pretty interesting... it was cool when you were injuring people, but when you liked someone and they got hurt, it sucks? Hmm. Liked it. Really enjoyed the whole promo, the fact that Fontana's starting to embrace his role as not a dick... at least not to everyone. Great little promo that forwards his cause. Max and Sal: LMAO... god DAMN that was funny. The beginning I was like "Oh, trying to be funny" but when the montage started, holy SHIT that was funny. Short, sweet, and I hope we see more on the CARDS but man. Funny as shit! Gibson Hayes and Uncle Frank: Man this... this was brilliant. The juxtaposition between the two personalities, the fact that Frank is SO happy to be the true believer and Gibson relishes the chance to keep using him. Yeah, this makes choosing between the best on the card pretty tough, IMO. UF comes off EXTREMELY fucking scary and I loved it. Christopher Black: So short, so sweet. Black's mood changes are so interesting to watch because they all happen for very clear reasons. Now he LOVES being so hated that his sheep are coming to him. Not often a wolf has the flock marching straight into his den... Loved it. Despite Katie calling me out. Jerkface. DETSON! THE LAST RP OF THE SHOW!: And MAN did it deserve final billing. Detson's transformation, if you want to call it that (I still call him face by proxy) is great... and now he's getting more and more confident, or at least trying to convince HIMSELF that he's got what it takes to charge forward. Good question that he leaves in the hands of the readers. And how different is this than the Presidential stuff? If you didn't know it, you might even think it a different writer. Just love it. He sold Weaver's danger AND AsH's injury (thank you for that, btw) while proving that he's got more to prove than AsH. Almost sounded like he was longing for something like that. GREAT promo. I dunno who's the best? Detson and Supreme Wright are fantastic. Dawson was right up there. Black's, though short, was great. Lineage AND Legacy had me eating their stuff up... Wow. |

I agree and disagree with certain points, but I appreciate the analysis none the less. I also partly blame the e-wrestling equivalent of "The Great Swampy Middle" I feel that my best work this cycle has been the on-card stuff with Manson/Frank.... the RPs haven't been coming quite as naturally. There is quite a bit developing on this set of cards and I wasn't 100% sure where to go here, but I ran out of time. However, Since Frank just began demanding an apology on Heatwave, I felt the bit about establishing Manson unapologetic nature worked best for this. Side Rant: I decided to make this it's own post. It can be read here: http://z7.invisionfree.com/JTF_Squaretable...?showtopic=7294 I originally did not think it was going to be as long as it was, and probly shoulda removed the succint bit, but that's really just nitpicking. "Bite Me" - I was basically stream-of-thought free writing at that point. ![]() The last line is a Widowmakers reference. To both Colby in UEW and Marley in PVW. I'm glad you liked the Gold Rush RP as well

Thanks for all the reviewing, JC!
Yeah, when PVW tours Canada, I indulge in some obnoxiously Canadian hockey-centrism, appropriate only in such occasions. To me, it's not that Fontana loves hockey (though he is Canadian...), but more that this Zamboni Guy lives and breathes hockey so much that every analogy he makes must relate to hockey. You've met guys like that before, you know you do... except it was probably with football or baseball. I try to uh... *cough* go where the puck's gonna be. :ninja: |

My thoughts as I read through Showcase: Craven/HVD: Has Craven ever been bested mentally? I liked the tie-in to Latex Lex and the past history stuff. After being beaten down, Craven still has the psychological edge as this thing starts to heat up. Meh. Moze, give me something more! I know you're capable! I demand this! Biz: Gets the point across. He calls out Sinister. Solid, but not attention grabbing. Legacy: Mine. Thoughts and criticisms welcome. Cole: Great. Loved this stuff, Mark. I remember a rabid and crazy Cole who didn't know how to give up. Now, I've seen him come full circle where he's a broken and bitter vet. Kudos to you, sir. Whisper: Pretty good debut promo. We'll see how this character develops over the next few cards. SCD: Short and sweet. It's a good segue promo. NOw to see where it goes. Beserkers: I think JC nailed this one on the head. They're consistent and getting better. A couple of thoughts on them. Change up how they speak. They're too well-spoken. Change up their cadence with some run on sentences and sentence fragments. Like JC said, turn these guys loose with emotion. Merc: Started off mediocre and picked up when Marshall showed up. Interesting dynamic between the two. I liked the "no honor among thieves" vibe. Quatermann: I hate you, Jer. Supreme Wright: Rename PVW to SWS... Supreme Wright Show. I hate you too, Jue. Hudson: LOL! Good stuff, Tracy. Nevermind: Good RP. My only complaint is the format. I like the brackets and dialogue. That's my preference, and it didn't ruin a great promo. Gold Rush: Good stuff here. Got a good laugh from it. Danny Daniels: Didn't care for how dismissive he was towards Chance Holiday. I am all for "My Little Pony" night. Especially if a bronie shows up. I'll finish this off tomorrow. It's late. |

Thanks. I think that's one of the nicer things I've ever had anyone say about me in e-wrestling. I was super impressed by Supreme Wright's rp. I think my streak is at an end. The formatting thing was kind of an experiment. I just find the script style with the speaker's name or or initials listed before the dialogue to be awkward in some situations. But it's a lot harder to have to include the proper punctuation. I started writing this one in the regular format, but it didn't look right to me, so I changed it up. Good work on everyone's part! I can always count on good reads! |
