Ah. I own Rapiers Edge. =) Good module. Actually, I pretty much own all the original roll and keep books except for Pirate Nations. It was the only book that just seemed so damned disappointing compared to the rest. And I'm also bitter about 7th Sea... have been since the d20 supplements, continued during the cancellation, and every few months I take out my cards and paw through my constructed decks and lament the lack of Ernesto stories. =( |

I'm a huge fan of the original Deadlands system...tons of fun, great setting. But yeah, the magic system was pretty rough on actually getting anything to happen... Anything good, that is. |

The one time I played Deadlands, I drew both jokers in character creation...I miss playing my Blessed. |

I've been asked a few times to just get my comments out here. I'm going to try to stay as positive as possible, as I've had time to reassess why I was so angry for this show. Basically: Higher than shit for expectations. It made it an unwinnable situation for Heatwave, IMO. Since reigning in those expectations, the card comes out better. - Biz Promo The Biz Promo to open the show felt extremely odd. I have commented before (to Shaun as well) that it seems like he's forcing an issue just to get some attention. That doesn't make it a BAD thing, as forcing something until it starts to flow is a lot of times the only way to keep going. Good on him for this. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of it, but my mind is open and I'll be reading where it goes. - Sinister & Chris Hartt backstage The first of MANY appearances by Sinister. I have to tell you that I did NOT enjoy these. They seemed to really drag on and Sinister has a habit of using a lot of circular arguments or recycling the same statement over and over. DNL. BUT... he's pushing forward an important angle for later. THAT much is good. - Fontana & Weaver inring I was unhappy with this, mainly because I pride myself on good inrings. But it just felt clunky on my parts... in the end, it more than served its purpose as it forces Weaver to stop overlooking Fontana, and Fontana gets some real heat on Weaver by nearly pulling his arm out of socket. - Four Way Scramble: Hudson v. Biz v. Manson v. Gionet It was a good match, even if the ending was fairly well known. I think Biz would've been better served going against Hudson, as they both have a fair amount of interest in them without being in any major angles. Gionet is still Gionet. *yawn* - Post Match, Manson-Frank-Lineage Furthers the angle with Frank. I may be getting the same idea as others that Frank is doing SO well in this feud that he HAS to lose the title. We just needs to be elevated, and right now, that can really only happen by moving up and away. - Livestock and The Gutch backstage When is L&G ever a bad read? This one could've easily fit on Showcase, though. That said, I'll take them over Sinister #9 - Heat bit I love me some HEAT. And now that they're actually gaining momentum, I really only want to see more. - Supreme Wright v. Nevermind Wright breaks out of his shell and in turn, breaks a few homeless people. It shows a new level of Wright that we haven't necessarily seen, at least at this intensity, and it does lead us to wonder what happens when he finally is able to get his mitts on Freeman. - Sinister & The Biz backstage ...yup. Could've easily done without this one on the show. - Mystery bit I think it's driving everyone crazy. Either we DON'T know and we're curious, or people thing they DO know and they wanna be proven correct. Either way, the writer is doing a great job keeping people engaged. - Dawson v. The Mercenary I'm high on Dawson lately and love to see what's going on. This did a great job getting Marshall involved and setting up for Tradition. It SHOULD be interesting to see if either guy changes their strats depending on how this match played out. (Read: Please put in a great strat that shows the wrestler changes their abilities according to the other guy's showing) - Daniels, Talion, & Quartermann backstage Daniels drives me crazy, Quartermann's a great read... if all over the place. Arguable about which would've been better for this. Showcase, Shockwave or Heatwave. My pref would've been Shockwave. - Derek Weaver backstage I hope I sold Fontana while still letting people know that Weaver has is marching orders for Detson and plans to carry them out. - Tag Titles Match: Lineage v. Max and Sal I hate tag matches. I don't know what it is, but it hurts my soul. Never really enjoyed reading them. Never really enjoyed having my chars in them. DNL. BUT.. I stopped mid skim on my first go, came back, and read the whole thing top to bottom. I LOVED this match. It may have actually turned around my views on Tag Teams in general. The chars, the teams, the action. ***** - Kevin Quartermann backstage Good. But Shockwave - Sinister & Senor Cloak Dos backstage Guuuuuh. SCD barely saved this and even still, it coulda been on Shockwave. - Livestock, The Gutch, & Dawson prematch bit Enjoyed! I love L&G and Dawson stepping up for Double Dutes! LOVE IT! What a hardnosed newcomer. Could use 10 of him. - The Berserkers v. Livestock & Heath Dawson Is it me or do the Berserkers get well written matches every time? I stopped and read this one too and was very excited to see them win. Not sure how they did it, but I'm officially a berserk-ite. - Fontana & Craven backstage I, too, feel that this killed a lot of the mystery for the Tag Title match. It was good, but still... killed that big wow factor that could've been had later. - Sinister, Senor Cloak Dos, & Spectre backstage Finally we get the main course of this entire ridiculous set. Spectre vs. Sinister in Sinister must lose rules with Dos as the ref. Should be fun. - Christopher Black v. Erich Seiger Sought after match, much watch on both sides. I don't know if I'm speaking for others, but as Seiger becomes more developed, I would LOVE to see these two actually feud going forward. A very interesting clash of styles and characters that I feel would provide great entertainment for everyone reading it. - Kevin Quatermann backstage #2 Good, again... but Shockwave. - Gibson Hayes prematch promo Pretty good. But something strikes me as Picky pulling his punches because he's waiting to really start biting into Detson. I think following the main event, he is unleashed again and from Tradition onwards, he's going to be on full redline Gibson. - Perry Fontana & Partner v. Gibson Hayes & Uncle Frank A good match, if somewhat anti-climactic. But really, thats the only way this one could've ended without taking someone's heat. I like the match, despite Picky's protests, and I feel that the Horsemen vibe of Gibson and Frank was strong and entertaining. And the ending DID leave me with a smile on my face, as the bottom line is: Gibson Hayes wins. Period. - Kevin Quatermann backstage #3 He's still going somewhere with it. And I like that. This one shoulda been on heatwave after the previous 2 on Showcase and Shockwave. - Rob Cole & Brian Young inring I don't know what it is. Probably the history of both characters. But I find myself rooting for Brian Young and against Rob Cole. And this isn't an insult to either character or their handlers. Its just when I see Brian Young, I want to cheer. HELL YEAH POISON THAT RAT BASTARD! WOO! POISON PART-AAAY~! Where's my Poison Cole foam finger? Oh, yeah, back on subject. Great piece. ...but go Young! - Johnny Detson v. Derek Weaver The one thing I mandated in my strat and talking with everyone is that Detson looks better and the feud for the title looks stronger afterward. I hope that the match managed that, because I think it did. It took a bit out of the sails of Weaver, but despite not being mentioned, Weaver showed great strength in continuing with a match after the much-feared Amputation! Good match that was well written, and Errol had a brilliant ending that solidified him as the Face by Proxy AND didn't take too much heat off of Weaver. Though I feel I coulda rolled with it. ...but don't job me for saying that, Bell! YOU MOFO! - Tradition VII announcements w/ Preston Winfield Tradition has both Roman Numerals AND a SIGNING?! Brilliant idea |
