-> Rob Cole #1
So, Cole's supposed to be a face, right? ...the fuck was that? I mean, it was a REALLY good promo. Gave me a matching set of jeebies for my heebies. The stream of consciousness and clearly slipping facade of sanity are something that I'd ask ANYONE with a mentally failing character to read. He set a new standard here.

But I wouldn't expect fans to CHEER that...
-> The Biz
Ok, we're starting out talking about ourselves in third person? Alright---wait, no, went back on that. Oh, and now there's a split personality. Or at least, that's what we are led to believe. The promo pushes forward the gimmick, and that's good. Otherwise, it's VERY sparse on any real substance and more than anything, it undersells Hudson. That = not good.

-> Spectre
The more I read Spectre, the more I think of him as the Cheeseburger of PVW. You know what you're gonna get, EVERY time. It's pretty simple really. And yet, its delicious every damn time. He can spice it up with a figurative strip of bacon or an onion here or there, but at the end of the day... its a Spectre promo. And God dammit, America was built on cheeseburgers. Yeah, follow THAT line of though.

-> The Mercenary
WOW! I am _SHOCKED_ at how much I like this one. Merc showing actual personality, here. He's showing us a bit of his past, glossing over unnecessary details, and using it as a framework for _WHY_ he wants to beat Dawson and go on to win a title. This is GOOD! Why haven't I seen this before? Nice...

-> Legacy
Something about the youth and enthusiasm of Legacy is very contagious. They're generally good guys just trying to make it in the business. Confident without being cocky. Excited about the future prospects. They always build up their opposition regardless of who it is. This a fantastic little promo upon which entire divisions can be built around. The whole Alex Wallace/impressing new management angle, too, is great and I want to watch and see what happens to these two. Great promo.

-> Talion, Quartermann, & Daniels
I should state now that it is with great trepidation that I see X, QUarterman and Y and need to read it. I said it in my last review: Quartermann is very good, but I think he' may've drown us a bit. Anyways... this is such an odd grouping of characters. Quartermann calling out both of them was pretty funny, especially saying Talion can't go 5 feet without tripping over his own guilt. I liked that. What I didn't like is that it DID kinda run on for a bit. Daniels seemed to clog the flow, repeatedly, but that does seem to be a function of the character... I dunno, I think Talion/Quartermann duo and a single from Daniels may've been more entertaing... regardless, it was a good promo. And on Showcase no less!

-> Marcus Manson
The beginning was interesting, made it seem like Manson has daddy issues. And then the run on sentence when he first addresses Frank kinda bummed me out. Manson is BETTER than this! HE IS! Fruitcake, nutcase, lucid enough to understand what I'm going to say to you when I say the words that come out of my mouth when I've formulated the sentence that I will want you hear because it will mean that you grasp the threat I present to you even though you are probably----- *GAAAASP* not... you see? Manson doesn't _NEED_ silly sentences like that. He's an established entity. This whole thing seemed rush. Like it was a dead sprint to get this in before the deadline. C'mon, man!

-> SHOWCASE SPECIAL: Legacy vs. The Rocksteady Boyz
How much fun did Picky have writing these. A fun change of pace.

-> Erich Seiger
Oh man. Been waiting for this since last Showcase... The training opening is something that's hard to pull off, but I think the promo started soon enough to keep from being annoying. Man, does Dallas calling him Erich a lot. You're talking to him, lady! He KNOWS his name! Yeesh. Also, saying every character in the match can pull a body apart ____ was really odd. Towards the end, especially with pointing the cane towards the sky it seemed more like a minstrel telling the ballads of a champion. And I liked that! I was nitpicking with the semantics above, but a good promo nonetheless.

-> Tracy Hudson
HUDDY! Hudson is a rare brand of amusing next door neighbor style and wilting insanity. I really enjoyed this little piece because it was SO unhinged, and he created (no matter how far fetched) a reason to go after the Biz. I liked it.

-> Uncle Frank
This... was... PHENOMINAL! Frank is so GD unhinged that everything I said for Cole about the slipping sanity promo, this one works for Sanity fully GONE promo! Man was this fun... and the compulsion to tweak his F'd up nose is so funny to me. Great promo.
-> Whisper
I had the chance to read this as he was writing it and Patches is doing a great job in pulling this character together, really pushing forward with his intrepid hero behind a mask, idea. I'm truly digging it and I hope others are as well.

-> Adrian Freeman
Fuck you, Freeman. I _LIKE_ Ultimate Xtreme Fighting _AND_ I've got a longer attention span than you. What? WHAT? Nah, great heel promo here. He's got the feel of an older heel that I can't QUITE put my finger on, but he gets me damn near every time. Freeman's never NOT a good read. I liked it.

-> Heath Dawson & Supreme Wright
Dawson is such a dick. But incredibly entertaining. He reminds me of the main character from Pool Hall Junkies. Short, sweet, interesting. Did I miss the one where they say just how far back Wright and Dawson go? Or are they just budding friends here in the PVW?

That's all for now. More to come.

It was slightly touched upon before, but basically, Wright and Dawson were acquaintances in another fed, where Dawson crashed and burned while Wright went on to bigger and better things. Now they've run into each other again in PVW, but are on more friendlier terms here.

-> William Craven
Kinda long, but since I haven't been around as long as many of you... or at least able to eat the cool kid's table until just recently, I liked getting a lot more of the background. I felt that it was almost undone by the explanation of the split Major personality, but only because the beginning was SO damn good. I dug it and got to know that madman that is both Major Damage AND William Craven.

-> Christopher Black
Black's continued evil streak is paralleled by his manager's seeming inability to continue looking the other way. Interesting dynamic that the writing shows to be building on something. Black may be the most evil heel there is, these days.

-> Sons of Anarchy
Short, sweet, funny brits who only seem to want a fight. Not crazy about the names, but I liked the promo.

-> Gold Rush
This was good! Again! Gold Rush seems to flow much more effortlessly than Manson does, for some reason. Not too sure if Berger is maybe feeling some stagnation with Manson that he doesn't with GR... but either way, it's good stuff. The idea of the radio show was fairly simple take on a normal interview, but it worked. The roles of Regnigh and Beau on the team are pretty interesting as well, and this interview came off as very candid, as if they weren't fake characters fake acting a fake role. ...yeah...

-> Herscher von Donkerhardt
This started off feeling flat from me. I get the indignation, but the wristlock/wrist watch thing is OOOLD. Not a great way to hook me in. And really, you want to hook me in. Me. Out of everyone, just me. Make your promos entirely JC-centric hookers. Yeah, I said it. What? This promo also struck me as hastily written, as there were minor typos all over that were somewhat distracting. I just was left wanting more, and not necessarily in a good way. I know HvD's heel now and that came off very well, but the WAY in which this promo was finished. I... I dunno. A rare miss for HvD. I'm fairly sure that he's going to make it up on show, though.

-> The Heat
ARVELLE IS HURT?! MY GOD! ...man, I was so looking forward to more Acher-velle. And I was denied. I feel... used. Fuck you, Picky. Fuck you for playing with my emotions. Archer-velle should be hunting predator and shooting his friends, not ...whatever he's doing. *sigh* Good promo regardless.

-> Johnny Detson
For a nondescript room, it was sure described. :D. God, dammit, will SOMEONE ELSE Cap the H? 10 years of that shitty character and his name is still AsH! No amount of people begging has led me to change it... wait, Flouze and 'Dro do. Ok, I'm fine with just them. Back to ze promo. Detson's fuckin' LOSING it. Someone inform him that he has the shot no matter what. Head down, keep walking, and wait 'til the bell rings. Jesus, man. Take a prozac and a beer. 4.5* promo. Great work, Errol.

-> Max and Sal
Very funny and their take on the entire "We're just in attendance?" thing was funny. I thought the same thing when I saw Tradition. Good promo.

-> Danny Daniels & Chance Holiday
Fuuuuu.... this was actually really good. I was kinda dreading it but... dammit, this was pretty good. Chance Holiday, model student? Ok, I'll bite. Show me.

-> Rob Cole #2
Stone Cole Crazy is back! Pretty much picked up exactly where the first one left off.. Good. Not as good as the first and I question the need for the second one, as I feel like the first one, solo, would've left a greater impression in our minds. Regardless, good promo.

-> Perry Fontana
Perry goes to AsH's house and tries to say hi, DENIED. Wants to leave a message. DENIED. But in the end, he does seem to get his message through, but not without hearing a load of stuff he may not have wanted to hear. Perry Fontana's path to redemption is long, winding, and not without peril. But it's certainly entertaining.

-> Livestock and The Gutch
Completely loving the drama that is "Who Shot Mr. Gutch?" The 8 kids line cracked me up, as did the voodoo doll thing. I dunno, I just liked the hell outta this whole promo. Fun, as usual from L&G and I wanna know... Who Shot the man with Die-uh-beet-us.

-> Chris Hartt
I think this one was very good from Hartt and he walked that line between aggro and confident very well. I wouldn't be surprised if he walked out sporting some new belt hardware.

-> Uncle Frank & Lineage
Kruger's wearing a turtle neck? You know that man has some damn dark secrets. And Vermeer sells Max like nobody's business. "Never been hit that hard in my life," was especially good. Can we have Lineage challenge for the titles again? Loving them. Chuckled a lot at Frank's unwitting insults towards Vermeer. The Napolean shot was great. And Vermeer's gall to bribe Uncle Frank so he can finish the match? I _LOVE_ Lineage. Holy hell, love them.

-> Heath Dawson
I got the chance to review this early and loved it. Dawson walks such a hard tweener line and does it so effortlessly. He's a perfect likeable heel or detestable face. Just, brilliant work to continue walking that line. He REALLY does remind me of the guy Johnny from Poolhall Junkies.

-> Talion
Ran a bit long, and I _HATE_ rundown promos. I do NOT need to hear about every person in the match. I just don't need to. I know who's there and who is doing what. Don't need a rehash. What I DO need is more and more and more of the background on Talion. We need another morsel to keep stringing us along, otherwise we're gonna get tired of it. Good promo, but definite improvement could be had.

-> Nevermind
Wow. He walked the hard tweener line here as well. Talking about the reasoning behind the homeless at the shows is to humanize them. And to admit that he's, maybe inadvertantly, bettering their lives? Interesting. And to make them human to the people who would otherwise ignore them, doesn't that mean he cares about SOMETHING?! LOOPHOLE! Loved this promo.

-> Derek Weaver
Blech.

-> Brian Young
Wow. Young with his first full blown heel promo. Before he was simply airing his very justifiable grievances. Now he says "Fuck the fans! I did it for me." He and Nevermind should hang out. Wow was this a great, great promo. Sorry, Young. I'll still cheer for you! But definitely casts Cole into a more sympathetic light now.

-> Senor Cloak Dos
Dos' promo was very good, and he shows a little more emotion than the normal happy-go-lucky face or the distraught friend of dead cancer girl. I liked it, and diefying AsH will always get you on my good side. 9* promo! ...ok, probably 3.9*. Something about it just felt... unfinished. Still liked it a lot, though.

-> Supreme Wright
WOW! Short, sweet, didn't hype the match at ALL but it fleshed out an idea I was wondering all week. How is Freeman going to screw Wright? Well, it's clearly coming and Wright's gotta keep that smile on his face the whole damn time. MAN I loved it.

-> Gibson Hayes
"The stench of failure that surrounds you" was the line that sealed the greatness for me. Gibson is taking off the gloves and attacking Detson at his core now. He's rubbing in his face all of the failures AND the success of those that came before, AND after him. It's gonna be bloody by the end of it. And Detson's ALREADY fraying at the seems. Let's watch, folks.

SHWEW! I DID IT! WOO!

The beginning was interesting, made it seem like Manson has daddy issues.

Go re-read the post-match segment on heatwave between Manson, Frank and Lineage, and then re-read the first part of my RP.

So is Manson. See? Daddy issues.

And for anyone wondering about just how bored JC is for having RAPID FIRE responses... I'm stuck at work on a surprise Pentagon day with my boss doing nothing but twiddling his thumbs while I watch the hours tick away.

And for below, I don't know what math YOU took, Jer, but 9/27ths = 1/3.

Don't worry about him taking up a third of the show this time. I mean, he might have the same amount of material, but... nine glorious segments. Just sayin'. :muahaha:

While it may not seem like it quite yet, I needed to send in a second promo for Showcase in order to better explain the transition and match strategy taking place over the longer storyline. And you're right... you're not supposed to be cheering Cole from that last promo. He's not a baby-face... there's a longer story involved and actually has to do with the entire transition over the past three years with Coles' entire breakdown as a character.

Cole has always been my "redemption" character... the guy who wants to be a good guy, wants to do something great, but he feels trapped by his own image and character. There's a difference between someone who wants to be a hero and someone who is... I think that if Cole ever truly found flat out redemption I'd probably wind up retiring him.
