The fans of the AWA have spoken up and they want answers! So, we submitted a list of questions asked by the fans of the AWA to the Chairman of the Championship Committee, Jim Watkins, recently and got his replies to share with the wrestling world.

Take a look!

****

1) Since your return to the post of Chairman, you've been more active than ever. Is there a reason for that? - Dale M. - Atlanta, GA

"Dale, when I sat back and re-watched the tape of SuperClash III and saw so many great matches with excellent athletes getting tarnished by outside interference, I knew something had to be done. Jon Stegglet is a great executive and a hell of a nice guy but he isn't the kind of guy who'd go sit out there at ringside all night and slap the taste outta someone's mouth when they get out of line... thankfully, I am. So, I'm hoping now that the managers around here know that I mean business, we'll have better luck at keeping the peace."

2) Is the AWA EVER going to have a show in Florida? - Wade B. - Tampa, FL

"It's a great question, Wade. Florida is, without a doubt, probably the state that we get the most requests to visit. The AWA is very popular in the great state of Florida and while that's not my decision to make, I'm going to make you a promise that I'll do whatever it takes to try and get Florida on the schedule for this year's tour."

3) Last year, there were rumors that the AWA would be running a show in Mexico in 2012. Since then, we haven't heard anything about it. Is that show still in the plans? - Fernando V - Los Angeles, CA

"We've had a lot of difficulties arise anytime we start looking at an international show. We've had promoters from Japan, the UK, Australia, Germany, and Canada among others all try to get us to come out for a show but the logistics just haven't seemed to work out quite yet. We're incredibly hopeful that 2012 will be the year we can visit our neighbors to the South but at this time, we just can't commit to it. Sorry."

4) You really seemed to call out Robert Donovan two weeks ago and he responded by attacking the National Champion, Calisto Dufresne. Will Mr. Donovan receive disciplinary action for that? - Nolan R. - Arlington, TX

"On the contrary, Nolan, I was thrilled to see what Donovan did at the end of the last Saturday Night Wrestling. While I never am in favor of an attack outside the confines of the match, in this case I think it really showed how much the National Title means to Donovan. In fact, I've got a pretty big surprise for him that hopefully we'll get to talk about here."

5) "Is the AWA's efforts to create a Women's Division dead in the water?" - Keith H. - New York, NY

"Keith, I think there are members of AWA management - in particular, Lori Dane-Michaelson, who would love to see a Women's Division come about. Unfortunately, our market research just doesn't show a strong enough interest in it at this time. I expect you'll see us stick our toes in the water now and again to see if things pick up in that area but I believe the plans for a full-fledged division have been dropped at the moment."

6) "What was the reaction backstage and in the front office to the recent JTF Awards that saw AWA essentially swept out of the Awards by rival PVW?" - Randy J. - Phoenix, AZ

"Randy, I think that our company is built around the idea of making our customers - our fans - happy. When a poll like that comes out and shows us that we're doing a pretty good job of that... but obviously we could be doing better... and also obviously someone else IS doing better, well, that causes a little bit of distress around the campfire. Our front office and our locker room is dedicated to delivering the greatest show on earth and that's what we'll continue to try to do no matter what any popularity contest results are."

7) "Has any more thought been given to upgrading the National Title to World Title status?" - Roger C. - Boston, MA

"World Title status has traditionally meant a lot in our industry. It's the signal to the world that you believe you are among the best in the world and should be given that level of respect. That said, in my opinion, it also indicates a certain willingness to promote yourself on a global stage. While we believe we deliver the best wrestling action in the world, we're still a company that runs the majority of our shows out of one building in one city. We tour the South once a year for a few months. We don't run shows in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philly - places where you arguably have to compete to be a major powerhouse. I'm fine with our top title being the National Title and I think most of the front office is as well. I think it would take something pretty major to change our minds."

8) "Play the role of VP of Talent Coordination for a moment. If you could sign any talent to the AWA roster - past, present, and future - who would it be and why?" - Kirk G. - Detroit, MI

"Questions like these are always tough because there's so much great talent out there in the history of our great business. If I'm looking at the past, I think the AWA is tailor-made for guys like John Wesley Hardin and Brody Thunder. Either of those guys, the legends that they are, would have a major impact on any promotion they got dropped into the middle of and the AWA is no different. Guys out there currently? I've always been a fan of Pure X. I'm not sure I should say anything but I know we've had talks with Gavin Cassel and Perry Fontana in the past. Plus, Supreme Wright's got AWA ties as well through his days in the Combat Corner. Any of those guys might make a strong contribution."

9) "Internet rumors are that SuperClash did very well on Internet Pay Per View. Are there any plans for another iPPV in 2012?" - Don M. - New York, NY

"We were quite pleased with the numbers for sure. That's something I think we'll save for special occasions though. Our deal with WKIK is very profitable for both of us so we want to give them as many of our big events as we can... like the Anniversary Show."

10) "How important is the Anniversary Show to you?" - Cal R. - Baltimore, MD

"It's interesting because some of us in the front office think the Anniversary Show is the biggest night of the year for us. We all love SuperClash and Memorial Day and the Cup and all of that - don't get me wrong. But the Anniversary Show is a night where we're not only celebrating being around another year but it's a big birthday party for us. It's the night where we get to thank the fans for sticking around and supporting us for another year. So, to me, it just might be the biggest night of the year...

...which is why I'm proud to announce the Main Event for the Anniversary Show right now. I mentioned I had a surprise for Robert Donovan - well, here it is. The Main Event for the Anniversary Show will see the Longhorn Heritage Champion, Robert Donovan, challenge the National Champion, Calisto Dufresne. It will be champion vs champion for the big gold. Plus we've already got that big tag team title showdown which we now know will pit The Lynches against the former champions Violence Unlimited. That's a big start to the show and we're going to have more to announce for it in the days to come."
