The third week of action here in Mighty Bastard Championship: Alamo City saw an increase in crowd size, with the buzz surrounding the new MBC territory more people than ever are talking about the promotion. And tonight's main event of an open invitation match to crown a new women's champion got the rumor mill working overtime as far as who'd show up. The show started off with an appearance by the GM, Tara Marshall, who proudly announced that this building would from this point on be known as the Harrison-Skoel Arena, named in honor of the longtime play-by-play announcer for MBC, Robert "Skullhead" Harrison-Skoel. Chants of "Skullhead! Skullhead! Skullhead!" broke out, putting a wide grin on Tara's face as she thanked everybody for coming out and hoped they would enjoy tonight's show. Jamie Kidd versus "Jammin" Jesse Roucka --------------------------------------- The first match on the schedule had a couple of fan favorites squaring off, with Jamie Kidd and Jesse Roucka shaking hands before the bell rang. A superb high-flying clinic was the result, both guys went to the top rope multiple times during the match and scored near fall after near fall. At the twelve minute mark Jamie springboarded off the ropes into a huracanrana for the cradle victory. WINNER: Jamie Kidd After the match Jamie helped Jesse to his feet, and got on the microphone. Kidd explained that since his old partner, Joey Malone, was moving on to chase the Southwest championship he was in need of a new tag team partner for the upcoming tag team tournament to fill the vacated Southwest Tag Titles. He asked Roucka to be that partner, and Jesse thought for a couple of seconds before agreeing. The crowd cheered as the two men exited. Hayden Childes versus Kyra Braddock ----------------------------------- The next match was between Kyra Braddock and newcomer Hayden Childes. Braddock boasted how later on in the main event she'd capture the Southwest Women's Championship but first she wanted a little preliminary competition. Childes took it to Kyra right away, trying to out-wrestle the Estrogen member, but Braddock made sure to bend the rules a little bit and roughed up the young rookie. But time and time again Childes escaped a pinfall or submission attempt, even dodging the KOKORO Cutter that put her down a week earlier. She went the distance again, as the match went to a draw. WINNER: Time Limit Draw Braddock was enraged as the bell sounded, at being shown up by the newcomer as well as for expending a lot more energy than she'd planned, thus going into the main event at less than full strength. But Childes escaped before Braddock could get her hands on her. The Second City Roughnecks versus Mark II versus The Russo Brothers ------------------------------------------------------------------- This tag team exhibition came next, and the combat boots-wearing thugs of the SCR got the crowd booing when they dedicated the match once again to their home state of Illinois. Though it was a triangle match, the Russos and Mark II tried to use the numbers to keep Bode and Shani from dominating. The bruisers still had the size advantage though, and tossed Ellis Russo over the top rope, crashing into his brother Tony late in the match. But Bode suffered the same fate, a double dropkick sending him flying to the outside and moments later an enzuigiri kick propelled Shani into a small package by Mark Carney for the three count! WINNER: Mark II The crowd thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Roughnecks lose, even more when Workman grabbed the microphone and dedicated their win "to the even greater state of Texas!" "Big Time" Bradley Rose versus Cornelius Gore --------------------------------------------- The big man, Brad Rose, came down to the ring and challenged Cornelius Gore to a match, claiming to be undefeated against Gore's "boyfriend" Quinn Murray and wanting to match up against "some real competition". It didn't take long for Gore to answer the challenge, making a beeline to the ring and brawling wildly with the seven foot Rose. There was no technical display here, just a straight up fight as Murray made his way to ringside to ensure Rose wouldn't leave with the victory. Unfortunately for him, a mistimed chair to the ankle meant for Rose actually took down the barefooted brawler Gore instead, and Rose picked up the victory with a quick powerbomb. WINNER: Bradley Rose After the contest, Murray tried to help Gore up but received a shove from his longtime friend. Gore stormed off, leaving Murray to sneer. As he left, the lights dimmed and the video screen by the entrance showed the following vignette: [The camera fades in to see Tara Marshall standing backstage. Standing next to her is the MBC: Alamo City Southwest Champion, Danny Holden. Danny's wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and has the Title belt wrapped around his waist. Tara speaks.] TSM: Danny, I know you don't give many interviews- actually, any interviews. But you are the MBC: Alamo City Southwest Champion, and part of being the champion is talking to the fans of Alamo City. Can you just say three or four things to the fans. [Danny cricks his neck, looks at Tara, thinks about it- then holds up three fingers, then four. Tara nods. Danny shrugs and looks at the camera. He holds up an index finger, and speaks with a surprisingly quiet voice.] DH: I'm the best wrestler- by far- in Alamo City. [He holds up a second finger.] DH: No one else- certainly not "Overkill" Joey Malone- is close. [He holds up a third finger.] DH: I expect great things to happen to me, because I am that good. [Danny starts to walk away- pauses- holds up a fourth finger- and adds...] DH: That's it. [Danny continues to walk away, a small smile on his face. Tara looks annoyed as the camera fades to grey.] Stan "The Man" Fox versus "Overkill" Joey Malone ------------------------------------------------ With the crowd already in a bad mood thanks to the words of the cocky champion, "Stroke Me" had them booing even louder. Well, except when the 5'7 scantily clad Sugar walked out in a pair of silver hotpants and micro-sized tank top, that had the males in the crowd drooling. Stan Fox came out for his usually obscene pre-match ritual, complete with Sugar stripping his robe off of him. Joey Malone burst out from the back at top speed to a huge chorus of cheers, and the match started with the smaller Malone dodging and frustrating Fox. He targetted the legs of Stan and tried to chop him down, but the self-proclaimed "Man" stopped Joey dead in his tracks with a huge backbreaker and spent the next few minutes stomping the fan favorite into the mat. On the outside Sugar applauded her man, even celebrating a vicious boot to the head of Malone by working the pole... well, the ringpost at any rate. As she hung upside down and captivated the attention of most men in the building, Malone caught Stan with a sudden backfist and smashed his face into the turnbuckle. Reeling, Stan was unable to avoid a tornado DDT from the corner and Joey put an end to the undefeated streak of Stan Fox! WINNER: Joey Malone The crowd roared happily as Joey leapt into the crowd and bodysurfed all around the arena, as Sugar slid into the ring and revived the unconscious Stan the only way she knew how... her own special version of mouth-to- mouth resuscitation. Fox wasted no time getting out of there after that, grabbing Sugar by the wrist and pulling her back to the locker rooms. Open Invitational Women's Ladder Match For The MBC:AC Southwest Women's Championship --------------------------------------------- And finally, the main event. A wild and chaotic ladder match capped off the night as Tara Marshall appeared up above on the catwalk showing off the Southwest Women's Championship belt. As she attached it to a metal hook on a long cable from the ceiling, the entrants began to walk to the ring: Kyra Braddock, still steaming from her earlier match. Jayde Griffen, Braddock's teammate in Estrogen. The Cordova Twins, looking to add more championship gold to their Psycho Driver Tag straps. Rachel "Arcee" Carlisle and Angela "Skullbuster" Harrison, collectively known as Skull N' Bones. Lightning Quick's Babe McKidd and "Hotstuff" Heather Bloodgood. In a big surprise that drew a loud pop, Fantasy Girl straight out of Beauty Angels: Japan. Hayden Childes, the increasingly popular rookie who's taken both members of Estrogen to time limit draws on consecutive weeks. And another brunette woman announced simply as Twilight. GM Marshall then finished affixing the belt to the hook and then tossed it over the railing of the catwalk, called for the bell to start the match. Initially the eleven competitors just slugged it out, but when the bodies began to spill out to the floor the first of several ladders became involved thanks to the duo known as Estrogen. Braddock and Griffen sought out Hayden and smashed her in the ribs repeatedly with the ladder, then set it on the floor and tried to hit a spike piledriver on the rookie. Babe McKidd came to her rescue and wiped out Estrogen with a tornado plancha dive over the ropes, all three left in a heap on the floor. The Throbbing Mattress Kittens doubleteamed Angela Harrison, driving her into the corner and delivering repeated running clotheslines until Arcee came to her sister's rescue and chucked a ladder right at the Cordovas. Fantasy Girl was the first to attempt to get the belt, setting up another ladder and climbing almost to the top before getting a surprise in the form of Twilight who springboarded from the middle of the top rope right to the top of the ladder and slammed the masked woman's head into the top rung. Fantasy Girl fell from her perch, but Twilight was summarily dumped moments later thanks to the regrouped Estrogen. Arcee and Skullbuster hit twin dropkicks to again send Braddock and Griffen to the outside, but were struck from behind with another ladder by the Cordovas and knocked to the floor also. Luna started to climb the still upright ladder in the middle of the ring as Aurora tried to stand guard, but Heather Bloodgood nailed her with a superkick and assisted her own partner McKidd by flinging her up into a bodypress that sent Luna crashing to the mat. The partners became competitive themselves though as Bloodgood tried to climb the ladder, only to be stopped by Babe. As Lightning Quick argued, they were left open to Hayden Childes sneaking up the ladder and coming within mere inches of taking home the prize. But one more time Estrogen made a target of the rookie, this time rocking the ladder and stopping her reach. Braddock climbed up the other side of the ladder and repeatedly smashed Hayden's face into the top of the ladder until her forehead was busted open and rivers of blood streamed down her face. Jayde climbed up after Hayden, her limp form still on the ladder but mostly held in place by Kyra. She allowed Jayde to set up and deliver an absolutely brutal Spirit Breaker off the ladder into the canvas, leaving the crowd gasping, then chanting "Holy Shit!" repeatedly. Childes screamed and held her right knee, and Jayde herself rolled from the ring, her tailbone in incredible pain from the maneuver. Kyra watched with satisfaction as Childes writhed in agony on the mat, but it was shortlived as Fantasy Girl quickly leapt off the top rope and speared Braddock off the ladder as well. Childes rolled under the bottom rope and continued to hold her knee, and with the bodies starting to pile up it became a tag team fight between the Cordovas and Skull N' Bones. Multiple ladders were brought into the ring again, and soon two were set up in the middle of the ring with a third sandwiched vertically in between to form an H-like structure. It was Luna Cordova and Arcee who each scaled one of the ladders on the end, and met in the middle of the bridge exchanging punches while trying to keep themselves steady. On the mat below Harrison and Aurora kept each other occupied, which allowed Twilight to use the bridge of the structure like monkey bars and jumped up, flipping over to kick both wrestlers off the ledge entirely! Luna hit the top rope and flipped violently to the arena floor, while Arcee came up a little short and fell to the mat instead. With Twilight all but guaranteed to take home the championship belt, Babe McKidd made one final desperate lunge to stop her and leapt off the top turnbuckle, striking the whole structure with a dropkick. It was enough to unsteady Twilight as Fantasy Girl reappeared and scaled the ladder, leapt over one of the ends and executed a nasty facebuster on the newcomer right into the ladder bridge. Twilight was knocked totally unconscious from this, but Fantasy Girl couldn't benefit from the KO because on her own sitdown landing she was forced to land in a straddled position on the ladder, injuring herself in the process! Both women stayed on top of the bridge section, unable to reach up and grab the title. Finally, at long last, one participant limped her way up one of the ladders and crawled along over top of both Twilight and Fantasy Girl. As she slowly pulled herself up she reached for the championship belt... And Rachel Carlisle ripped the title down from the hook, very nearly falling off the ladder bridge for the second time. The bell rang, and the crowd erupted with cheers. WINNER: Rachel "Arcee" Carlisle As she clutched the championship to her chest Rachel teared up, and soon after Skullbuster staggered back to her feet and called to her step- sister. Arcee slid off the edge of the bridge and was caught by Skullbuster, giving her a big hug. The crowd chanted her nickname over and over, and as the EMTs came down to survey the aftermath of the match Tara Marshall came to ringside to congratulate Carlisle herself, and to again thank the fans for their support. |
