1. I think that was the best non-Rumble battle royale I've ever read. 2. Never saw that finish coming... 3. You'd have probably saved time writing Travis/Rex by yourself! |

As I was wrapping it up, I started to think that it was probably the best non-Rumble Battle Royal that I had ever written so... yeah! Glad you liked it! I thought it was a blast.
This coupled with other vague comments in this thread made me think people didn't like the ending. Anyone want to go into detail?
It's interesting because "back in the day", I think when I got a match in from a writer, I generally just let it be. Nowadays, I'm a little more picky about what I get in in trying to make it "mesh" with the rest of the show whether that's in pacing or writing style (commentary vs action blocks) or even just the "voice" of the commentary. I get fussy when I see Bucky call him "Gordon" because he just doesn't do it - it's ALWAYS Gordo or if he gets extremely pissed off at him, it's "Myers." I get fussy when I see Gordon calling fancy moves because it's part of the character that he basically stopped learning the names of new moves at some point - he's more of a Vinnie Mac "WHATTA MANEUVER!" kinda guy on some of that stuff. It's little stuff but it's stuff that I feel is important enough to go back in and "fix." BUT... I do enjoy having a skeleton for the match in place to work with. You guys all did great jobs in pacing the matches... I just went in and "polished" a bit. =) Keep 'em coming! Tell me more about what you guys liked and didn't like. I thought it was a killer show and I had a blast with it. Now if only I could figure out how to handle the next show. |

I didn't hate it. I just didn't see it coming. Since you locked the Superstar thread, I'll ask here...why did Lynch and Marley get more points than Craven and Jones? |

It's punishment for Terry and Moze's constant slackery! Either that or I screwed up because I read it wrong. Fixed! |

I got mixed feelings on the ending, because it seemed a lot like a Money in the Bank cash-in...without the benefit of someone having a MitB briefcase to begin with. So yeah...it seemed like a sort of an ass-pull deus ex machina sort of thing to me. But I also liked that Watkins' earlier rant about Southerners not being able to turn down challenges came to fruition. |

#asspulldeuxexmachina trending worldwide! Get that on a T-shirt stat! (I've always wanted to handle a wrestler named Deux Ex Machina, who never actually wrestled, just randomly interfered in matches...) |

I have no problem about the ending, since it wasn't totally out of left field and it also shakes things up sufficiently. Could be interesting to see who steps up to go after the LH title. |

Honestly, that was the driving force behind it. I'm a big Donovan fan but I felt like the belt was dying on him. I'll take partial blame for it for not driving any angles in that direction but it became obvious that Donovan was looking in a different direction (Dufresne) and the title was suffering for it. So, this presented itself to me as a way to get the belt off Donovan without doing major damage to him and giving us an antagonist who might drive some traffic around the LH Title. Back to Terry's point, I didn't see it as a MITB type deal because it was Summers manipulating the situation. He didn't want to leave the building not a champion. He knew the pressure points to poke on Donovan to get him to accept the challenge. Donovan had his chance to walk away and he didn't take it. But both men had been through a match already... and you could probably argue that Summers was in worse shape than Donovan was going into it. It was a competitive match and Donovan was on the verge of victory so... yeah. |
