We'll never know what would have happened in this cycle that was headed toward Shattered Dreams. And if/when PVW comes back, I'd imagine these feuds and such will be erased. Thoughts on what would have happened? |

Now I know that I'm going to forget a few angles and such. But here's what I would have done with some of these dangling plots. Also, keep in mind that since the only matches at SD were set to be the tag/world titles and the rumble, a lot of these storylines would continue well into the next cycle. One final note: I'll probably only write one or two of these at a time, as booking these things takes a bit of time and thought. PART I: Heath Dawson/Mercenary/Alex Epstreme What I would have done here was to have Merc and Epstreme use Heatwave as a forum for their little band... namely by beating the change outta Quartermann. Dawson comes in to make the save and winds up once more coming face to face with Merc, whom Alex has left high and dry in the ring. Merc lays out Dawson with the Haliburton, and makes his way out of the ring, where he confronts Epstreme about ditching him. Epstreme rightfully points out that he doesn't work for Merc: Merc works for HIM. Merc grumbles about this, but essentially agrees. This brings us to Shattered Dreams, where Merc/Epstreme work together as a team in the Rumble. While very successful, the numbers will play against them, and they both come up short. Post SD, blood is still bad between Dawson and Merc. But Dawson can't do anything without Epstreme getting involved. So a compromised is reached: Dawson can get his hands on Merc... but only if he can find a partner to face Merc/Epstreme in a tag team match. The match is booked, and Dawson has his partner. Except shortly before they are to meet, Dawson's partner winds up getting taken out by what can be assumed to be Merc. So now, Dawson is essentially fighting a triple threat match, except the other two guys are a team. But WAIT! At the last second, when all hope seems lost for our hero Heath Dawson, Merc pearl harbors Epstreme just as Alex is about to end the match. The match is tossed out, and chaos rules supreme as all three men wind up fighting each other. Post match, Epstreme points out that Merc's contract is NOT actually with PVW, but with the Extreme One himself (who outbid Jessica Marshall for it). Due to this, Alex fires Merc for his betrayal on the spot. But in another show, after Epstreme is on center stage gloating about getting rid of both Jessica Marshall and Mercenary, he is interrupted by none other than Dex Willingham himself, who informs Epstreme that since Merc is no longer working for Alex, Merc is now a free agent. At this point, Alex spouts off about some sort of clause that prevents Merc from coming back, yadda yadda yadda. But after some wrangling, Willingham manages to talk Epstreme into giving Merc the chance to wrestle for the rights to the contract on the next PPV. And as an added bonus, there's gonna be a SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE. Hint: It's Heath Dawson. So going into this match, the question becomes: What will Dawson do? He can use his magic zebra powers to screw over Merc, costing him his job. Or he can side with Merc, and make a lasting enemy in Epstreme (keeping in mind that his issues with Merc haven't been resolved yet.). In the end, through sheer will, determination, and possibly a bit of help from Dawson, Merc wins. And while he and Dawson haven't necessarily resolved anything between them, both come away with a mutual respect for one another. And with that, the story is done... for now. This is a thread we can pick up at a later date if either Dawson or Merc need a quick feud in the future. |

I'm gonna keep mum for what was officially planned for Black/Hartt as a) I still hope PVW will be coming back &/or b) if I ever find another home for Black, it's still a neat idea for a feud against a face with a similar temper/mind set to Hartt. As for Max & Sal, even Mike & I had no idea which way things were going to turn out regarding the tag division |
