That's the problem; it wasn't easily pigeonholed. Those who understood it said it would go over great in WWE or TNA but to read it, for some reason, confused a lot of people. I'm gonna try to break it down more simply than ever before. Bear with me.

No, the problem is the gimmick shouldn't be overly complex and, quite frankly, retarded. Whenever you have to go in depth to explain something and then clarify beyond that, that should be a clue that your idea will not have broad appeal beyond maybe one or two folks.

The match might have come off well but perhaps that is because it could have been so much worse. The Meatgrinder is the M. Night Shymalan of the wrestling world.
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

It reminds of of a joke gimmick match that I used in a Wild Cards RP...the Jacques Cousteau Death Match...in which a ring is in the middle of a pool, in which you find sharks with frickin' laser beams on their head (because even cold blooded killers deserve a hot meal).

'Cept mine was a joke.

Okay Moze tell them that the Meatgrinder wasn't even the first match you tried to get passed ... I turned others down! :)

My older brother kept requesting matches in our old WWF tabletop RPG (where the Outlaws, Monosso, Dr. Mal, and others came from) that... made Meatgrinder seem quite sane.

He spent an inordinate amount of time lobbying for the Shark Tank Match (exactly what it sounds like), the Cajun Match (with a crocodile-filled moat around the ring, which had a concrete slab on it and spiked turnbuckles for no apparent reason), and the Dahmer Match (you win by eating your opponent). While it was perfectly IC for his character to demand these matches in promos (which he did), he was also pushing for them OOC, to our unending amusement.

He was a bit disappointed that the best he could get was a 2-of-3 falls no DQ match, but he made the best of it by nearly killing the guy anyway. :-/

Moze probably should've just been allowed to use the Pit.

The Pit? Mortal Kombat or Beverly Hills 90210?

The fact that I get both of those references makes me feel old.

That said, and apologies to Brian and Rob in advance for saying this... but I am dying to see Craven in a Jeffrey Dahmer match.

Working on new characters you didn't see a decade ago. Honest.

Eh, Craven's already pooped out pieces of Cole from their wars over the years. A Dahmer match wouldn't be anything new.

And Bell, you're right, you rejected like 20 match types, many of which were more mundane than the Meatgrinder. I'm not blaming you for the Meatgrinder BUT if you'd taken any of my other suggestions we (probably) wouldn't _still_ be hearing about it today. :P

Gotta love when an IC prize is actually an OOC prize that turns out to be a no-prize. Given the scrutiny worse than no prize.

This goes out to all the bookers out there; if you offer a "pick the stip for a PPV match" as a prize for winning, say, a horribly bloody tournament just make a list of stips to pick from ... in advance.
And it was at this moment that the entire world realized, in unison, that tandem bicycles were AWESOME~!

You know... I just realized that Rob Cole vs. Spectre was the ONLY barbed wire match in the history of PVW?

PVW has only had two cage matches if you don't count Blood Bowl II and the War Games match.

Marley vs Craven and HvD and Hayes.

I liked the Spectre v. Cole strap match more than the barbed wire match though...oddly enough it seemed more brutal.

Speaking of the crazies...that's a match I'd like to see.

Spectre v. Epstein in a Rebirth Rules match.

:)
