Journeyman Ron Shaw got years of mileage out of making David Sammartino submit. So from this day forward, I don't think we should ever let a Sweet Daddy Williams appearance go by without acknowledging that he once destroyed Playboy Ronnie D. And...why does Todd Michaelson insist that Supreme Wright beat Dave Cooper in the center of the ring? Shouldn't he be just as pleased if Wright gets the job done via countout? |

So some comments as I read in full. Black guy named "Smooth", Blue? Really? Also really dig the Anton's being the Steiners. Maybe a bit TOO like them, but still. Was an easy and instant comparison in what is sometimes, and not a bad thing, a cosplay fed.Sultan is so insane. I have no idea who writes him, but kudos to you! It's like a whole huge effort to do it. Man, Bart is pretty cool. Was the entire LWC like this? If so, that was an RP paradise. Bart/Rust: Something about fat guys throwing irish whips seems weird to me. Not sure why though. Oh wait, Rust is only 259. Hmm, always pictured him bigger. So Bart is obviously Hansen or at least the writer got inspiration from him. What about Rust? super fun match though. From a "visual" perspective this was a fight where guys were really doing anything to win. Moreso then any other in the event now? Another crazy guy to write for in Jezz. The weird mean turn was pretty cool though. I still think Jones is everything Benjamin shoulda been or maybe Kenny King will be. Oh, irony as I read, Marley using Benjamins catch the kick counter counter! Actually, this is a really great match. And yes, I did catch the November thing, Terry. >:( I really do think it's weird in an old school fed that he is ripping off so many moves. Normally finishers and signatures are really protected in a place like the AWA. Gaines making a "comeback" is really telling of the tourney. A mix of AWA'ers and out of towners that shows it IS anyone's game. It isn't just the AWA guys going over outsiders, really making the event more special and "Anyone can win it!" VADER! Ahem. Really like MAMMOTH, seriously. Not sure I get Monosso yet. There's always tons of hype, but I must be missing something. I was shocked Mike didn't get anything in. Would still like to see the rp though! Nothing like a rocket scientist rping for a crazed man man! I really like McBaine being kept strong though and getting the majority of the offense. Keeps Monosso's claims legit too with hard fight after hard fight. Ronnie D thing was the Ronnie D thing. Random Rashan Hill getting a huge spot time! Actually dug that, made me smile. Wright beating the multiple personality Matthews was the right move. Not necessarily because he out rped him or anything but you need a Combat Corner guy in the top 16 or even 8 IMO. I did like Matthews kinda switching gears through the match. Something that mighta been emphasized even more... or later on! duh duh duhhhh Pure X/Manny was a fun lil match to write. Trying to get my writing feet under me and wouldn't mind hearing thoughts. Funny enough, I really like the made up histories and how they are automatically legit and these guys can come in and do well even with no e-history. \ Yeah, the battle royale gimmick is over with me now. And of course, always a fun main event. Took everything to take out Hudson, re-ignited the Marley/Nenshou deal. Good stuff. |

Mistair Vallie Dusuruh or vatevah you name vas! All ontollEgunt AmerEcun know! Dot Sultan *chestslap* Azam *chestslap* Sharif *chestwipe* vasn't unsane like vat you said! You diddunt talk vid raspec like I oxpect a formair wrastlair to hof for Olympic shampwon, Ashun game shampwon! BUT REMEMBAH! Illi tizrahu tuHSudu! Un I vould teach you raspec un make you humbail if you keep talking like dot about me! I strted Sultan out of a morbid curiosity of what the Iron Shiek's promos would look lke as e-w RPs if somebody typed like he spoke. And I threw in some twists, such as the occasional Arabic phrase (he has explained that though Farsi is his native tounge, he only speaks Farsi to Iranians). I expected it to be a one-note character who would have a short run and disappear. And then he got over. I keep a file with links to some sites and message board threads with Arabic phrases to use now and then. Most of them are not Iranian Arabic... a lot of Egyptian Arabic and such. I don't care, nobody's checking me on it. I hope! |

I answer your question with a question: why does Mark Langseth work for Joe Petrow? That should answer why Nenshou works for Percy. |

Langseth has spoken many times to explain his motivations. Kindly point me to a Nenshou promo where he does so and I'll consider the issue dropped! |

I don't believe I had anything to do with that... I don't think.
Yeah, pretty much. It was basically where the best of the best went when they truly wanted to test themselves and not worry so much about putting together a great story. Powell used to tell me that he'd book based on RPs and then figure out an angle based on what happened. Now, I couldn't possibly explain to you what he was thinking putting Taylor in a Main Event angle at one point.
I pretty much only do it with Jones because his attitude strikes me as a guy who would steal someone's move just once because he thought it'd be funny to do. One of my favorite parts of the Jones' app is that he does a short-arm Yakuza and an STF because Todd made them watch a Case vs Shaw match once.
That's actually one of my favorite things about this tournament. It would have been real easy to job out all the "outsiders" early and leave the AWA guys but everyone who has come in for this has just been so awesome with their work. Guys like Carlos, Weisman, Wallie, Dan K, Kipp, Sager... so many others. It's really awesome to see guys like Kipp and Sager who haven't been in the game for many a moon pop back up and do so well.
Like I said, he just barely missed getting it in. The match had long been written but... yeah. I'll post the RP later.
Another one of the things that I love about this fed. Most places would have no sold me selling the Lynches as god's gift to Texas wrestling but you guys ran with it and made it work. Same thing with Hamilton Graham and some of the other stuff. So much fun.
Alphonse Green is one of my favorite characters these days. I think if you're not at least having fun reading Joe's work with him, you truly have no soul. It's another one of those awesome things about the AWA. Joe's so well known for Spector and Olrikke to a lesser degree, it's great to see him just have fun with guys like Green and BC. It's showing me a side of his writing that I never knew he had reading Spector and Olrikke for years. This tournament, while a beast and mountain of work for me, has been such a blast. I've absolutely loved seeing guys and characters we haven't seen in years come back again - even if some of them didn't turn out so well. But it's given me a chance to work with some of my favorite people in this game after a long time away. I just wonder what the roster will look like when the tournament is over. I haven't even paused to consider that yet but I guess it's about time to start figuring out who is staying and who is going. I know we've got some guys on the roster who went silent after bowing out in the first couple rounds so there may be some spots open... and there's a handful of guys waiting to debut also so... should be an interesting period between BST and SuperClash. By the way, started putting some SuperClash matches on paper today and if things work out as I'm hoping, the lineup should really be something special. |

That was me. Pretty much ripping off Ice Train's time as M.I. Smooth. Also, I tried writing them a little less like the Steiners, but someone mentioned they weren't taking enough liberties with their jobber opponents, so... I do try to make Alex Anton slightly more eloquent and smooth, less rambling, than Scott, though. Mainly because there is no way I could replicate Big Poppa Pump's promo stylings. |

BPP: Fo yuh all mah freaks ow dare! Bipop apump id yur hoogup! HOLLOW IFYA HAIR ME! If I did a Steiner homage, I would totally rip off the "subtitles" YouTube videos of Steiner promos. That would be gold. Now I want to RP for the Colts; I made them kinda as a Long Riders homage, but I only saw them a couple of times and mainly remember them because I had their AWA action figures as a kid. It was really another connection to the longrunning tabletop RPG a lot of my older characters were from, because that is where Sam Colt comes from. I was considering apping that team to PVW (I have way too many people here, and co-handle The Rave anyway), but decided I didn't have time for another character. I had originally written that match when I had a very slow work day, and no e-w deadlines... I wrote a JTTS tag match just to use for any future card and sent it to Blue. Cool to see somebody build on that. :-) |

This co-handling has been interesting. Most co-handled teams I'm aware of have each guy handling one wrestler separately, but we don't really have such a division. It ends up with Jeremy doing most of the interviews, as his futurespeak is stronger than mine, while I write most squash matches, but neither is set in stone. There's a pretty noticeable difference between my doing something and Jeremy doing something, but fortunately they are a wacky enough to get away with a split personality. |

I drew a lot of inspiration from the Honky Tonk Man and Hollywood Blondes era Brian Pillman. Since Green is considerably undersized, I pretty much need to be crafty when writing his squashes. Throwing ice cubes at Futurestar would be something heel Brian Pillman would have done. Actually, when I was coming up with a name for him(wanted to create a jobber until Blue suggested a HTM kind of guy), I chose his name randomly using http://www.kleimo.com/random/name.cfm which comes in handy if you want to write a local guy to get squashed. It turns out he shares a name with some character in one of those weird MMOs that people like to play. |
