80MSP, or $1 if you will, gets you a decent wrestling game reminiscent of EWR (for those of you who remember that) complete with a character create mode. That's not why the PVW roster should take note though...

There's a green savage character with "cannibal" in his name and a pale goth called "The Haunted" that reminds me of Spectre. One or the other I wouldn't blink but both? It's an indy game so it's made by just some guy (or girl, you're welcome Katie) on the internet. Y'know ... like us...

Interesting, eh?

If I made a wrestling game, I'd just go ahead and use e-w characters. After asking the handlers.

I'm pretty sure this is a coincidence, as the "cannibal" is more likely patterned after The Amazon from the old Pro Wrestling game. And a Haunted Goth isn't exactly novel.

Well, it _may_ be someone has been grabbing characters from EW and slightly changed them, but I wouldn't really bet on it not being a coincidence. I mean, a green savage might well be a Blanka (Street Fighter) ripoff rather than Craven, and a pale scary goth isn't a stereotype never seen before elsewhere. Heck, Undertaker would count as one of those.

Oh, and Jeremy, consider permission to use Uncle Frank given for your hypothetical wrestling game. :)

Yeah, and blanket permission for any of my characters too.

Now get to coding!

It was several things that made me wonder. And 'though it wasn't my intention to call for an e-wrestling video game well, hell, I'm willing to help. Just keep in mind I have little time and don't know a single line of code. :)

I pity the coding when it comes to programming Todd Johnstone.

Why? Johnstone would be the simplest character ever. Random frames, no real animation, just flailing limbs. No dialogue, just a series of beeps. He'd be like a blurry and fat R2D2.

All the various tricks and cheating he can pull off though. Johnstone would be a killer AI and only through the luck of random button pushing can he be countered. :P

Todd Johnstone has never done anything against the rules, ever!
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

Board game I can help with...video game I'm useless.

The board game itself is one I made when I was 13 or so. All my friends loved it, even the ones who didn't like wrestling at all. It was simple and competitive, drawing largely from the old Dungeon! board game by TSR, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon!) but not really the same game. I already know the game itself works as it was a hit with several groups over several periods, including non-wrestling fans. Making a computer version is what I was doing before I got a job, to try and teach myself Visual Basic.

If I pick it back up, I'd scrap it and use SDL (a C++ library I am already familiar with). I have most of the art assets I would need, I wasn't planning on sound (that could be added after), and the big obstacles would be AI, multiplayer support, and distribution. I have done AI before, but not really the other two.

I am not, at present, planning to renew this project, but it is something I could do if I got the urge.

Todd would have to be referenced on an EVENT card or two, probably to screw over the opponent of your choice. :-)

Now, if they had an apathetic grunge devotee, I'd say your theory was correct. I still think that WWE had/has someone who monitors e-wrestling and maybe "borrows" things from time to time. However, I know for a fact that TNA doesn't.

TNA isn't good enough to be most e-wrestling.
