Filling in a much needed void, here are my semi-serious predictions for the final night of Blood Sweat & Tears! "Hotshot" Stevie Scott vs Supreme Wright An entertaining tournament with many surprises comes to its conclusion with four very different wrestlers. Stevie Scott, the only remaining former National Title holder in the tournament, a two-time one at that, is the champion for AWA Tradition, while Supreme Wright is the Combat Corner's prodigal son, returning to avenge the perceived slights against him. By all account, Stevie Scott should be the favorite, but I don't think that Blue would go through all of the trouble of this tournament just to crown someone who's already been the centerpiece of the promotion once, and I do think he's really getting behind the Supreme Wright story, so Wright gets a Stampede Cup Cradle to advance to the final. James Monosso vs Sultan Azam Shatista a.k.a. The Match Put Together So That Jeremy Doesn't Fight Himself In The Finals (or The Match Put Together To Assure That Jeremy Gets To The Finals if you prefer) Monosso, once the most hated villain in the AWA, he has risen above having the deck stacked against him so often that he has earned the respect, perhaps even the love, of the fans, leaving Shatista as the closest thing this tournament has left to being a heel. Monosso had perhaps the greatest single day performance in JTF e-wrestling history, but now he has to go to sleep and let all of the adrenalin return to normal levels, and the time has come to payback his pain debt. On top of that, the logical thing to do would be to have a true face/heel dynamic in the finals. So naturally I'll go against all of that and say that, somehow, Monosso gets by to face Supreme Wright for the $500,000 championship belt. National Tag Team Title Match: Bishop Boys vs Violence Unlimited (Cast is BANNED) The AWA has tag teams!? I'm surprised that neither made an appearance on Night One to promote the match and remind us of their existence. I suppose we go with the obvious Dusty Finish (is it the City Jack finish in this universe?), in that VU uses the cast behind the ref's back and gets the three count and are announced as the new champions, only for a second referee to come in and reverse the decision. Memorial Labor Day Rumble The AWA has been jerking around the number one wrestler in the business for far too long. Vasquez or Vandalism!!! AWA World Heavyweight Title Match (James Monosso vs Supreme Wright) I imagine that most of the match is Wright beating on a damned near crippled Monosso, maybe even further damaged by his own manager and stablemates, but he JUST CANNOT PUT HIM AWAY! Suddenly, Monosso goes mental, but it's more of a Neo from Matrix "I can see the bit codes of every single thing that's happening in the universe" kind of way, where he has an answer for everything Wright is going to do before he even does it and, somehow, someway, wins the match and the title, to the shocking sound of thunderous cheers, and Monosso gives a speech eerily similar to that which Rocky gave to the Soviets at the end of Rocky IV. Hopefully, Blue will stop there and not turn the story into Rocky V. |

Is that when Juan Vasquez calls out Monosso to fight him in the streets and then Monosso wins when he punches Vasquez into a bus? [Monosso stares at Childes.] PC: Touch me and I'll sue. [...] PC: I'll sue! [UPPERCUT INTO A LIMO.] JM: Sue me for what? [Monosso celebrates with the crowd as we fade out to a cheesy montage of past AWA moments.] |

I'm sticking with my original pick ( from the poll ) and going with Monosso, beating Scott in the finals. It would be a herculean run and cement this new era of AWA, and ignite even further after Vasquez wins the rumble and they continue feuding but in reverse face/heel roles. I'm kind of confused as to how Vasquez began instantly following ordered from Childes, I figure he'd fight it more. Even they are both faces I would really dig a Wright/Scott feud to follow this...maybe Scott old school cheats to win and Wright is pissed thinking that with Scott hell bent on only a true AWAer winning the title that he would fight the fair fight. I've got the Lynches to retain via the Louisiana screw job setting up a three way feud leading to SuperClash. |
