Supreme Wright takes offense to Phoenix calling Mr. Freeman a "cancer". He'll have you know, that Mr. Freeman is an honorable man and an athlete of the highest caliber.

Alright, been while since I've done one of these, and I'm doing it on my tab, so please excuse the numerous inbound typos. EDIT: Gonna clean up some of the typos and elaborate, now that I have an actual keyboard. ---> Gibson Hayes This was short and sweet, as Gibson's still reeling for the loss and just trying to show that he hasn't crumbled yet, but still isn't willing to admit he lost his title. Obviously more will come on the show, but this did serve as a good appetizer. Gibson's biggest hurdle this cycle, is what does he do now that he's tasted true defeat? True failure at the hands of someone he deemed unworthy... it could be a lot to crush anyone, so what Gibson has to show us is that it's just a speed bump, a minor hitch in an otherwise perfect rise towards the hall of fame. Also, can he still keep HOPE together? They were created almost solely to keep the title on him and ensure his success, so what do they do? How do they view him? What does he view them with now? ---> Mannifred Lester Some people are asking US to wait and see, like Golddust. But the thing is, we have seen this stuff 5+ years ago. And I didn't like it then. Just like now. I don't like it. That said, the writer is pretty good. Good structure, good themes and a well crafted premise, even though I didn't enjoy it. If this is your thing, this is probably one of the better ones you'll read. ---> Rob Cole Cole's descent into madness is hard for me as he's supposed to be the face, but is so unhinged, it's hard to really root for the guy. But damn is he a fun read. The black hole thing, I kinda hope becomes his new nickname. The Black HOLE, ROB COLE! ---> Morgan Shaw Debut promo number 1 was ok. The manager, who struck me as gay, was far more compelling than Shaw, who basically regurgitated exactly what mismanaged said, only less convincingly. But it's a debut promo, which is supposed to suck. Another thing that struck me as off or not great in this promo, was the emphasis put on Shaw's looks. It's really subjective to the reader what they imagine he looks like, so it generally doesn't give anyone an edge in terms of character creation. And being a great technical and submission type wrestler, in this fed, doesn't mean a damn thing. We've got too many (of which I'm guilty) here and we tend to get muddled together a little too much. ...GOD, I miss writing AsH. ---> Marco Clah Debut promo number 2 was much better. I found Clah oddly compelling, especially for a first promo. The native American thing is never an easy one, but I found it well done and subtle. Just who he is, rather than what he is. What I think really caught with me was that he wasn't all about the intro for the character, he was more about just talking up the match, like he's an old hand and ready to go. Vermeer is his target, he's the hunter. Everything else was just extra. ---> The Platinum Club Where is this going? That's all I thought the whole time. Good piece, but where is this going? Oh, and the dragon sleeper standing on the calls is called the Burned at the Stake. An old Heretic finisher. Yer welcome. And why is Kruger beating on a guy that Vermeer paid? What the HELL is going on with their relationship, here? Excellent angle, but it DOES make me worry that the most logical conclusion to it leads to Vermeer splitting away from Kruger for a SOLE singles career... and that sucks, as this is a fantastic tag team. ---> Phoenix He's back... and came out stale. I'm not impressed, and hoping for something a little bigger from him to explain the absence and the return. That said, the promo was good from a basic standpoint. I guess I was primarily disappointed due to the lack of anything new or noteworthy here. Phoenix has a ton of potential but doesn't seem interested in digging deeper. Why not? What's there that we haven't already seen or heard? ---> Adrian Freeman I think Freeman is setting up For an oncard post. At least I hope so. Short and I normally love reading Freeman. And who is Freeman going to feud with this cycle? IMO, he needs someone of serious note to jump up his stock again. He's a top level talent and the fact that he's not booked higher up the card speaks more to PVW's depth and talent than it does to Freeman's abilities. I said it above and I'll reiterate, I LOVE reading Freeman. Love it. I hope he finds a real good face of legitimate standing to feud with. Senor Cloak Dos, maybe? I mean, it'll be the first time Dos has an opponent who's entire goal doesn't involve his death. ---> Will Geddings The only redeeming thing of this entire promo was him saying he wanted his handout. I don't really give two shits about what he did in pvw before, or why he assumes he can blow off Quartermann, but short of that handout line... it was a waste. I figure this was just the groundfloor for Geddings (Weddings for Terry), though. Onward and upward. To add on, Geddings is a good character with a good writer. A lot of depth, a lot of potential for something new here. But I'm not a fan of the blowing off the competition line, face or heel... Even Gibby did his research on his opponents! Here's hoping that this WAS just a stepping stone and the FlyKing moves up. ---> Kevin Quartermann Possibly the best straight up promo on the whole card. It was great in tying up Nevermind, his match with geddings, and his views on the last few weeks. Poignant, fun, sharp, didn't drag. Great promo! I don't know how Jer keeps putting out fantastic work, match after promo after match after promo, but he does. Quartermann deserves a big push once finishing the feud with Nevermind, and I'd love to see him vying for the NA title. ---> Talion God dammit, this was the time to go a new direction and break from the same stale promo. But we got the same stuff, jammed down our throats again. Dude, change gears, I beg of you. There's SO much there, the least of which is revealing your past. Bring up Lester, bring up just how hard it was to recover from bleeding from the neck, bring up ANYTHING other than "I've gotta repent." ---> Herscher von Donkerhardt Kind of the same as above. I really wanted to see a change of pace for hvd. He just destroyed Craven, has a chance at the champ for the first time... it's all his! Bruffy's brushing off his abilities again, clearly, and it may take some doing for him to really jump back down into HvD's mindset again and run him like we know he can. Here's hoping his next cycle leads him to a better feud fit for him so he can move forward. Nevermind could be a great one. ---> Jason Cruise Kinda stale introduction promo. I'll reserve judgement for the next thing he puts out. All the correct notes were hit, I suppose, but they struck me as flat and not terribly inspired. I love the newly motivated guy, the backstory on the prophecy... but WHY should we care about this guy? Everyone in the company is motivated, what makes Cruise different? ---> Gold Rush Fun promo to kind of move on from the platinum club and still sell the SoA. I feel like this was somewhat thrown together by Berger, who may or may not be busy (no Marcus Manson?) But it still go the point across. I'm glad to see him ready to move up and forward. A feud with the ASLL Champs, the Berserkers would serve them very well to help build and allow The B-zerks to keep going without losing a ton of momentum to the Max and Sal loss. ---> Legacy They're back! Woo! C'mon guys, get the lead out and get back to the great work you were doing before. You get a pass for a re intro rp. The good from this, was that they've kicked off the dust and we can get back to seeing what makes this team tick, where they go without Wallace, what happens for them in the future. Perhaps a Platinum Club feud serves them well? ---> The Berserkers See Talion. The B-zerks, they just ...they keep hitting the same note. They do it well, but they haven't changed chords in a while. I want to see some actual thought about the loss to Max and Sal. Not just an "Oh well, the next people will FEEL THE BOOM." ---> Senor Cloak Dos Dos does something a but different and it worked well for me. Had nothing to do with the future, but I love reference to POC. Good little piece. Cloak is at an interesting position, in that we need to see him in a real feud again, not a blood feud, but a real one that reminds us that he's a competitor, not a super hero. He doesn't need to be slaying demons and putting down the Lex Luthors of the world. He needs to be wrestling and putting on amazing shows to remind him AND us, that he's a world class competitor. Not a comic book character. The problem there, is that Dro seems to refuse to let us push him where he rightfully belongs... near the top. ---> Mike Gionet See Talion. New char, same promo, imo. Gionet suffers from the same problem his 'father' does, in that he manages to convey the SLIGHTEST hint of emotion, but then buries it behind "But my physical abilities and my TKD black belt... they'll get me by." WHY should we read Mike Gionet? WHY?! A great position would be for Mike to go against everything his dad stood for. Cheap tricks, avoiding fights at all costs, cheating to win and if he did win a title, doing EVERYTHING he could to keep from defending it. THAT would be interesting. ---> Sinister I initially wrote this off as lazy, but the piece actually did well to foretell what's on his mind fir the next cycle. Sin needs a break out feud to go ahead this next cycle and I'm hoping he gets it. There's more than enough heels to go around, and if he really wanted to, he could do well with a lot of him. I'm just hoping to see him sell less and possibly become a powerhouse face again. ---> Chris Hartt Whoa. Oddly fun change for Hart here. His HE the new choke artist of pvw? His nephew seems to think so. Hartt, too, needs a breakout cycle. Should he be able to finish strong in this feud with Black (who is carrying his end, but needs to get put in his place by Hartt to not completely bury the Paladin) I could see him moving into a strong, long run with the NA Title. ---> Nevermind & Danny Daniels God Damn, that was entertaining. Great promo guys. And Nevermind might be the best unintentional heel ever. I say unintentional, because as a man whip cares fir nothing, hes def a tweener. Great piece. Such a juxtaposition of characters makes Daniels an almost sure-fire hit if he's working with any other character. Especially very serious characters. And the N-mind did get a big boost just from having someone play his foil so well. ---> Derek Weaver I didn't enjoy it, but I'm trying a new direction for my most hard line char. ---> Uncle Frank Absolutely loved it. Always entertaining and the idea of Todd being so afraid of Frank that he will stop talking is just endlessly funny to me. Frank may not actually get a real feud this cycle, because he may not need one. He's a monster, hugely entertaining and well loved by all the other handlers. I wouldn't be shocked if fans didn't start cheering him at some point. I could see him just wrecking house for almost a full cycle, taking on heels and faces alike, anyone who isn't HOPE. ...How awesome would Uncle Frank/Supreme Wright be? Or even more interesting, Uncle Frank vs. Livestock and Gutch. ---> Heath Dawson Good new direction for Dawson. Reminds me of attitude era Austin, without being a ripoff or cliche. The fed needs this. Almost a shame Langesth isn't in the fed for more than the rumble, as Dawson/Langseth writes itself and would go far to establish Heath as that next great face. Hopefully someone else can step in (Gibby? If he isn't back in with Deston and Fontana) ---> Erich Seiger Good piece, Dawson sold him hard and he sold his injuries and disappointment at losing. He's just getting better and better. And I can't wait to see how he improves this cycle. Not a whole lot more to add here, but it's going to be very fun watching Seiger bloom into possibly the next face challenger to the HW Crown, whether Detson is face, heel, or tweener at the time. Or even the champ! Fontana could do it... ---> Max Weinrib & Sal Mubarak - PVW Tag Team Champions Funniest piece on the card. I'm hoping they get challenged this cycle so they don't get bored. And you CAN beat the game with Hoyles spinning piledriver! ---> Supreme Wright - PVW Television Champion Not stopping the Wright hype train, no Chance. But seriously, the Supreme one needs aother great feud to continue to push him. It's almost a shame Black isn't available for this feud. After further analysis, Wright almost seems held back by the championship. Unless he defends it every show and pulls out wins left and right, after a lot of strife and turmoil mid match, he'd do better chasing another title. Then again, I could be wrong and he could be an even better champ than a Chaser. ---> Christopher Black - PVW American Champion Speak of the devil. Black knows it isn't over and he's getting ready. Fun promo. He's gonna put something out on the card to further this, I'm sure. Rose's increasing worry about his charge is fun and I find myself wondering more and more about Rose's character and motivations each time I read him. ---> Johnny Detson - PVW World Heavyweight Champion So simple. So concise. And perfect, start to finish. A new day, a new start, a new era. Detson is, in my opinion, the best possible champion we could have right now. After that amazing, AMAZING match he's a shoe-in for a fun face run. He finally reached the top of the hill, he's proved this wrong... he's happy for once! Let's see how that goes. But at the same time, no one forgets that he's a slippery, slimey, conniving and brilliant tactician who is capable of getting what he wants without every stepping foot in the ring. Oh, and he can play both cards at the same time, which makes him a perfect tweener. I'd personally love to see him make a run as a tweener champ. He could face anyone (adding huge prestige to the title) without burying anyone and all the challengers would be elevated for even getting to the stage to begin with. |

The typos kill me. Whip is who, import is I don't, shirt is shit... Etc And I did mean to add that this was a great, strong flash show that had great participation from everyone. If it came out salty, its because I was pressed for time and hate using the tablet keyboard to type long stuff. I type too quickly for it to catch up. |

I echo JC's concerns about Platinum Club -- while PVW has quality tag teams, Tommy has put together a killer heel team that should soon challenge Max & Sal for their belts. I don't want to take pot shots at Gionet & Phoenix. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best things/angles/feuds for those two (probably not with each other) to give them that spark for fuller, more dimensional characters. They say the best heels believe that they're in the right (and I'm sure neither of these two are heels) -- what needs to be expanded is that sense of belief in themselves. They're saying the words, but there's a lack of passion behind them. It feels flat. Perhaps working with the right handler could help them to up their games (Freeman? Manson? Uncle Frank? Fontana?). Echoing Mark about the casual swearing too. |

I agree about the swearing but I have been working way too much overtime to go through each one and add the Johnstone [TV EDIT] Since I know what's coming I can say the promos in question did lay groundwork so have patience haha. Now hopefully these cards will come out in this month ... and I'm not sure if that was a joke on my part yet or not. |

The Lester RP was great... I'm not sure I like Lester breaking the fourth wall. But I've always been in the camp that in the E-wrestling universe, even if it gets a little crazy and unrealistic, our characters are real. Wrestling is a real sport, and not pre-scripted like wrestling in real life. it was still a good read, though. We'll see where it goes |

My comments on the cussing was a serious comment... I don't like it. Flat out... I could almost like a lot of the promos in this packet, but the fall-back cussing just ruined some of the promos for me. As it is, however... I will probably write something more meaningful this weekend if I get a chance. |
