Todd should be cursing more - but he's mellowing out in his old age.
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

I know I did a lot of (censored) swearing with my first rps for Black. For me, swears need to be treated like salt. The right amount can give a promo a certain punch (Black tearing apart Josie in front of her parents has only one swear -- something I made sure of). Too much can make it off-kilter, losing any impact.

That being said, I love my copy of "The Joy of Swearing". :P

Well, Todd doesn't flat out curse, he just calls people horrible things. There are 3 in rings that were Stone going: ok, David, you have free reign to write what you want for TJ.

I read them tonight and think: yeah. Todd needs to be more vitriolic.

I couldn't give a fuck about the cursing. Then again, I'm in the Navy, former Marine, and do mma for fun. So yeah, I'm a little desensitized. If it sounds like the char would naturally curse, why should I care? Doing it for shock is passe, but for me.. Its an everyday thing.

When I read 'In the Navy' I thought of the song by the Village People. That's cursing worthy!

I don't want to take pot shots at Gionet & Phoenix. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best things/angles/feuds for those two (probably not with each other) to give them that spark for fuller, more dimensional characters. They say the best heels believe that they're in the right (and I'm sure neither of these two are heels) -- what needs to be expanded is that sense of belief in themselves. They're saying the words, but there's a lack of passion behind them. It feels flat. Perhaps working with the right handler could help them to up their games (Freeman? Manson? Uncle Frank? Fontana?).

Echoing Mark about the casual swearing too.

I don't really feel like I was taking pot shots at either guy. I added a bit more construction to my criticism on the second go through. But yeah, I definitely didn't dig em.

---> Gold Rush

Fun promo to kind of move on from the platinum club and still sell the SoA. I feel like this was somewhat thrown together by Berger, who may or may not be busy (no Marcus Manson?) But it still go the point across. I'm glad to see him ready to move up and forward. A feud with the ASLL Champs, the Berserkers would serve them very well to help build and allow The B-zerks to keep going without losing a ton of momentum to the Max and Sal loss.

You're not wrong.

I wanted to re-land the on-the-job training aspect of Beau's character, and this seemed the best way to do it. Beau is still learning from Regnigh, and still takes things (like losses) personally sometimes. So it wasn't a great flash, but it's the start of the cycle after the blow off of a cycle long feud, so I felt that it didn't really have to be.

Yeah, the Phoenix rp kinda irked me. His assessment of Adrian Freeman was pretty off. Sure, the dude's kind of a dick, but as far as heels in PVW go, he's a pretty honorable guy. No one seems to hate him, not even the guy that just ended a long running feud with him. I also got a slight Matt Tiegs self-serving vibe from the rp. Eek.

I'll also echo the dislike for Geddings calling Quartermann a "nobody" and then dismissing him. Blowing off an opponent and not knowing who they are doesn't do anyone any favors. You make your opponent seem like nothing and you just end up looking dumb if the "nobody" beats you.

But yeah...Adrian Freeman...upstanding citizen. :chaplin:

>Where is this going? That's all I thought the whole time. Good piece, but where is this going? Oh, and the dragon sleeper standing on the calls is called the Burned at the Stake. An old Heretic finisher. Yer welcome.

And why is Kruger beating on a guy that Vermeer paid? What the HELL is going on with their relationship, here? Excellent angle, but it DOES make me worry that the most logical conclusion to it leads to Vermeer splitting away from Kruger for a SOLE singles career... and that sucks, as this is a fantastic tag team.<
Damn, I didn't want this to be confusing.

Basically, I wanted to give Kruger a moment in the spotlight again since the last couple of promos were very Vermeer-heavy. That may be the given dynamic of the team but there is no reason to change it up once in a while.

In the first part of the RP I tried to show that Vermeer has still trouble grasping the basics of wrestling, namely taking bumps (or being hurt, if you want to uphold kayfabe). Vermeer stops the practice since he thinks he is going to squash Clah, anyways and runs off to do rich boy stuff.

The trainer mocks Randall once he has left and believes that Kruger is in on the joke but Kruger shows that he has a psychotic streak and goes nuts on the trainer, cycling through the most dangerous submission holds in PVW (I chose the "Burned at the Stake" very carefully;) ).

So, I did not try to tease a break-up or dissension but tried to address that a) Vermeer is still a whiny bitch who does not want to put much hard work into his career, b) Kruger may be a silent bystander most of the time but you may not forget that he is a pretty bad guy by himself and c) that the bond between Randall and Alex may be going stronger as the trainer mocking Randall set Kruger off.

Certainly not enough talk about Clah, but I didn't know anything about him, so ...

It was still a great promo, Tommy. And I love the team, as is evidenced by my giving a crap about where they're going.

To be fair, I don't think Phoenix is Tiegs-level bad (yet). After all, he didn't kidnap a studio audience from his hometown and forced them at gunpoint to cheer him. ;)

I'm optimistically hoping the comments about Freeman were due to ignorance/not reading previous work from Freeman. Which admittedly IS a bad habit to get into, but one that can be easily corrected.

I loved Hayes' promo to open, and Detson' promo to close.

I like the PVW tag team division and where that's going.

I liked Lester's promo...it was a throwback, a throw WAY back, to the early 2000's. I don't know if I'd like to see it every week, but it was a great bit of nostalgia that sells the character.

I don't know why people are so [BLEEP]in' worked up about swearing as long as it's [BLEEP]in' censored.

And, as a nice touch, I LOVED that the promos from the champions closed the packet. It shows that THESE are the top guys, no disrespect to anyone else or the guys who opened the packet, but I'm a fan of "champion comes out last."

(It PISSES me off when CM Punk has a match in the middle of the show and John Cena closes it. You're telling the fans what the pecking order is, and the only way to change the pecking order is to change the pecking order and STICK with it, instead of panicking because a segment is down for a week or two)

There's a method to my flash...and judging by the concerns I've read about it, I think it's going to play correctly long term. Though, for whatever reason, I don't see my << >> actions showing up in the packet...which is kind of a problem as they had a purpose other than simply breaking the lines up.

Plus, ya know...I haven't done this in a while. Cut me a little slack. Please...please?
