He was talking about the National title, not the World title.

We can unify it with the UWF world title to make it a super title of some sort!

I only accept the kind of ECW 3 way dance where it's elimination style. So there.

I like the elimination style 3 way dance much more than the standard first fall wins version.

I prefer the Starrcade 94 (95?) version, where only two men are in the ring at a time, and any one of them can tag out to the other guy.

We're NOT doing a three way match of any sorts.

Blaargh. Can't decide which one I like best.

Ilike rumble winner vs tourney. Think you could run both and people would still clamor for both. Hypothetically.

I think that part's okay. It's the number of guys in the tourney I have issues deciding.

If I promise not to assist by writing any shitty matches, will this help the decision-making process?

Not particularly, no.

I feel like if I do a smaller tourney (8-16), it should all go in one night. And if it all goes in one night, then the Rumble winner is just getting the traditional title shot "at some point."

If I did a bigger tourney, I could see having the Finals and the Finals alone on the final night so we can do Rumble winner vs tourney winner for the title.

I think my biggest problem for a 8-16 guy tourney is that it feels like I can't do any fun cameos for it because it'll have to be the top guys and top guys only.

If you're the Championship Committee/"the office" at this point, would you rather keep the tournament to crown your next top tier champion in-house entirely to avoid the possibility of bullshit/shenanigans?

I probably would, but I don't control any of those characters. :D

On the other hand, if you're throwing away your company's four year history, wouldn't you want to make creating the start of your new history as big of a deal as possible?

Seems like they are rolling the dice here, so they need to take chances and think big, not take inspiration from GAB 91?

Screw this...lets just go back to arguing about starting a women's division.

How about we allow women into the AWA World Title tournament, and make it a 96 person field?

I'd see both sides to this.

Yes, they'd probably be concerned but I think that would be overwhelmed be their desire to completely bury Langseth's claim to being the best in the world. They wouldn't want to leave any wiggle room for Langseth to claim he's better than their new champion.

How does this sound...

A field of 32 are invited to participate in the tournament. Those 32 compete in qualifying matches throughout the months of April and May - some televised and some shown in highlight form. The Sweet Sixteen matches will take place on SNWs in June. The Elite Eight goes down on the 4th of July. And the Final Four and Finals takes place on Labor Day.

The Rumble stays in its Memorial Day Mayhem slot and the winner gets the traditional shot at the World Title. However, competitors entered into the tournament can not compete in the Rumble. If they've been eliminated already in the qualifiers, than they can enter but otherwise they have to make the decision on which is their better chance to become the World Champion.

Since the tournament would stretch to Labor Day, it would bump the Stampede Cup into an early 2013 slot.

Thoughts?
