The team of Gaines and Martinez has definitely caught The Rave's attention!

Perfect show to set up a lot of SuperClash. It was great to see some of the main feuds highlighted on this show and some of the big matches officially be put into this place. Excited to see the first AWA ladder match AND a barbed wire match on the same show... Blue has caved, submit your off the wall stips ASAP! ;) I like how these stips are very slowly being instilled into AWA though, makes them feel much more important.

The Main Event was a clusternuttiness of good guys gone bad and vice versa. You could have rearranged half of those guys onto the other teams and you would have no idea who the faces and heels were. I was almost expecting someone to get turned on but I think it ended properly by focusing on Monosso/Wright.

Sweet Daddy Williams needs to stop whoring his services out! First Monosso, now BVB! A lot of really cool matches shaping up that I'm anxious to read. There were a handful of guys that were surprisingly quiet this cycle but those spots were definitely filled up by a slew of exciting new feuds and some rekindled old ones. Still excited to see who some of the ??? marks are as far as partners go and it was a bit odd and a bit brilliant the way the true "Sychosys" came out.

Great stuff all.

Digging all the new feuds that've sprung up that'll come to a head at the big show, and the latest from Petrow and Wright/Monosso really kicked their respective storylines in high gear for me. Another fun one.

From the emotionally confusing main event, to an abundance of squashes, that was one ominously weird show. :) Blue's loins are girding for SuperClash as we speak.

To state the obvious, so many tag-team matches! Do we have a rough guesstimate of how many shows there are expected to be between SuperClash~! and Stampede Cup?

To state the even more obvious, SUPERCLASH!!! is shaping up awesomely. Good stuff, everyone.

For the Steal The Spotlight cash-in, my gut tells me:

Sharif/Supernova/Choisnet vs. Langseth/Cooper/Honeydew

No, I meant I'd miss the calculating brains of Royalty...the cerebral assassin, if you will.

I have no comment on the booking of the match itself.

A few days late to the party, but I really enjoyed evil Preston.

I also enjoyed the Petrow/Watkins segment as well; though I was confused at the end. I assume Petrow reverted back to Double Eye Petrow?

Being critical of myself, I feel like I'm dropping the ball a bit on Dufresne/Vasquez. I feel like it deserved a little better climax than is happening, and that's definitely on me.

But the show as a whole was a good one! Looking forward to SC.

Oh no! I'm about to get myself in trouble! :soapbox:

I don't think that the AWA has really ever clicked on all cylinders since SuperClash II. That's not to say that there hasn't been some really great stuff since then (including what I still believe is the most well-written show ever in Memorial Day Mayhem 2012), but I think that a fed like this is at its best when running with the NWA formula: a strong face chasing a strong heel.

The 2010 Stevie Scott/Juan Vasquez feud was some white hot stuff. Then, at SuperClash, you had both men vacate their roles: Stevie Scott gave up being a firm, strong heel, and Juan Vasquez gave up being a firm, strong face. Things could have gone just as well, or even better, by just going through with what they started: Juan Vasquez becoming the turncoat, hated heel. And the jilted Stevie Scott gradually regaining the trust of fans to be the guy to avenge them (or even someone else filling in the face role, maybe City Jack?)

Instead, we got Vasquez immediately taking back his heel turn, then defending the title against other faces and heels that never really got a chance to be fleshed out. Meanwhile, Stevie was gone for awhile then came back as Switzerland, which cooled him off a bit. Stevie is making progress, but remains on the road to recovery to becoming a strong face. Juan Vasquez lost his soul, but never fully embraced a heel turn, so he's kind of in that limbo zone that Bret Hart found himself in towards the end of his WWF run.

All of this leaves Calisto Dufrense in a really weird place. He's the heel who screwed over Vasquez...but he himself got screwed over by Royalty. So fans with short memories can feel sympathy, but he's still playing a heel going after another heel who doesn't really own the evil. I'm not sure how I'd play that role either.

And now you've got a whole bunch of new faces, a whole lot of people that have recently turned one way or another, and every bit as much chaos in the administrative layers. So many shades of grey (50?)...it really does kind of feel what the Attitude era might have been like had it taken place in 1989 NWA.

Hopefully SuperClash IV will be the start of things settling down so that fans can start to figure out who the hell everyone is again.

I'm going to ignore Joe... as I usually do... and respond to this one instead.

I don't think anyone blames you for the quality of the Vasquez/Dufresne build. It's just that the story became much different when Vasquez became involved with the Unholy Alliance. It's still very much Vasquez sinking to whatever levels he can to get at Dufresne... but the story also tweaks to become about how far Vasquez is willing to go to achieve that goal. So, there's more of a character-based story with Vasquez rather than simply "Me Kill Dufresne Now!"

It's a tough role for you to play with Dufresne because while he's not a face by any stretch of the imagination... he's also not soaking up heel heat off of Vasquez since Juan is also doing dastardly things.

In other words... it's not you, it's me.

On a side note, I'm REALLY excited about SuperClash. I have no idea what's going to happen in a lot of these matches - just yesterday, in fact, I got a suggested angle that totally surprised me but that I kinda dug at the same time. I believe that this SuperClash, for the first time ever, actually FEELS like our Wrestlemania. It has so many big matches - so many feud culminations - it finally feels like the big show it's intended to feel like.
