I'm a bit surprised I haven't seen a Road Warriors/Power of Pain/Demolition tag team yet.

Just another few honorable mentions for ideas:

British Bulldogs
Can-Am Connection
Strike Force
Windham/Rotunda (can't think of the team name now)
Killer Bees
Arn/Tully

I actually picture Freeman and Dufresne as Arn and Tully.

A Killer Bees team would be fun too for the mask switch alone.

I'll add a few teams of my own here...

The Sheepherders - the crazed violent duo who were extreme before Heyman knew what it was
The APA - the physically imposing team always willing to hire out their services to the highest bidder
Arn/Eaton - I still remember the Clash where they announced that three of the greatest teams ever - the Horsemen, the Midnights, and the Freebirds - were combining to form one team The Best Of The Best if you will. It'd be tough to do in e-w since all those "best" teams are comedy duos but if you could get the right combo, it'd be gold.
The Moondogs - go read John's Mid-South history on the wiki and you'll find the perfect Moondogs gimmick to beg him to let you rip off

Arn/Eaton could be done here since Brent Maverick is around. Just have to figure out who to team him with!

And thanks for fitting Colt in!

I've had a mercenary/greaser 50s style tag team in my head for ages but then I get stuck with Stay golden, Ponyboy and never move past watching/reading the Outsiders.
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

Worst stable ever.

It was so disappointing to see that was the best Sting could come up with. And somewhere around there, a barely mobile JYD got a title shot against Flair. Sad, sad stuff.

JYD on his worst day > Luger on his best day.

Oh, sure, Luger on his best day was technically a better wrestler, but he had about .05 percent of the charisma of Dog's left pinky finger and was about as exciting as reading a reciept from a gas station.

And you couldn't give the Sting match away on free television, now could you? :-)

Oh hell no. But you could sub ANY of the other Dudes in there for JYD and get a better match at that point. And in all honesty, NWA in 1990 was just coming off one of the best years in wrestling history in-ring for them so their crowds weren't looking for JYD (in my opinion.)

Well, not ANY of the Dudes since that includes El Gigante but...

Damn it, I'm just bitter we lost the chance for Orndorff vs Flair for the title on a Clash.

I actually liked most of Luger's work from 1989 to 1991... he had better matches than people thought. Problem was, once the whole Flair ordeal went down and Luger then knew he was getting the title in a joke of a match with a heel turn that had no explanation, and he just didn't care after that point.

But then, when the Dangerous Alliance came along, they had a quality group to oppose them. On one side, Rick Rude, Steve Austin, Arn Anderson, Larry Zybysko and Bobby Eaton. On the other side, Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham and the Steiner Brothers. Good times indeed.

Nah. I liken the Bishops in style more to the Roadies but Duane Henry's occasional high flying takes that one a little bit off.

I'd be curious to see someone do a Scott Steiner - just in terms of the innovative style he used to have. The tilt-a-whirl... the Frankensteiner... the Screwdriver. All that stuff no one had seen (a ton) in the States until he started busting it out against poor sad jobbers.

I've also been thinking I'd like to see someone try to pull off a Lesnar. Big, powerful genetic freak who is agile as shit and just throws people around like yesterday's trash. I watched Show/Lesnar recently and had forgotten just how awesome he was.

Brock would be unbeatable in AWA, theoretically. Biggest heel in the fed, and the impetus for Ben Waterson to fire the entire Southern Syndicate and concentrate on his meal ticket...

...wait now, I smell angle!

Wouldn't late-80's/early-90's Steiner and Lesner be essentially the same thing? Scott was to his era what Lesnar was to his, I think.
"Destruction of Hell" start playing as Mason drop the mic and exit the
ring as fans throw stuffs at him but he punch out most of the fans even

A valid point except NWA never treated Scott like Lesnar. I remember when they were running this thing where a guy would have to "run the gauntlet" every weekend - three separate singles matches. The weekend that Steiner did it was pure gold. I was convinced as a kid that he would be the one to beat Flair but then he pretty much got held only in tag matches. Obviously that worked out pretty well as the Steiners are one of the best teams ever but I always wondered what would have happened if Scott had been a singles wrestler for the majority of his early career instead of later during his (also awesome) Big Poppa Pump days.

Speaking of which, the one character type that strikes me as odd that we've failed at having many of is the loverboy. Jimmy Garvin, Eddie Gilbert, Rick Rude, Big Poppa Pump, Rick Martel, Luger as a heel - that dickhead heel who was obsessed with his own looks and physique and thought he was God's gift to women.

Dufresne, of course, has that element to his character but we haven't really done anything with it yet.
