Speaking of which, the one character type that strikes me as odd that we've failed at having many of is the loverboy.  Jimmy Garvin, Eddie Gilbert, Rick Rude, Big Poppa Pump, Rick Martel, Luger as a heel - that dickhead heel who was obsessed with his own looks and physique and thought he was God's gift to women.

It's weird you mention this, I was thinking about that this morning. How has Rick Rude not been cloned... er.. homaged... yet?

I made a guy for IPW who's supposed to look like him: "Sexual Assassin" Jefferson Rockford. His persona is that of an uber-pervert/idiot so it's not a straight rip. Well, some of the moves. Mainly the hip swivel. Lots of swiveling.

Closest thing I'm aware of for an E-W Lesnar is (I hate to reference my own guy, but...) William Craven in 2002-2004. Pretty much his entire WWO stint and for some time after he was this indestructible monster who could pull off just about any feat of strength/throw. He didn't really fly at any point though, so that's not so Lesnar.

Dude ... "That's so Lesnar" could be a saying. A saying that'd get you stoned on the street, but whatever. Seriously though, Lesnar is just about the only ridiculous tough guy in wrestling to follow through and prove himself to be just as bad as he was portrayed outside of wrestling, isn't he? Steve Williams got beat up by Bart Gunn, who lost to Butterbean who oddly is trying to become a wrestler, I guess. Brian "Crush" Adams I read, at one point, tried to break into MMA and got murderized. Trained by Antonio Inoki and he got murderized. Inoki being, perhaps, the only other example besides Lesnar of a wrestler doing extra special well in MMA. Hell, didn't he just about invent the sport?

Ahem, enough rambling. This thread has inspired me to rewrite my retarded hillbilly Andre clone. Yes, it's just as horrible as it sounds.
And it was at this moment that the entire world realized, in unison, that tandem bicycles were AWESOME~!

Pffft. Someone pay homage to Dory Funk Jr. and have him make Mizusawa submit to a spinning toe hold. In fact, where's the Funk brothers homage?

I gave up a long time ago but I always had visions of Buse bringing in Courtade as a pissed off old man Terry Funk.

Vasquez wins the title someday... Courtade confronts him about a title shot... gets shot down...

"Well, I was just kiddin', Juan... I was just kiddin'. I just wanted to congratulate you and shake your hand and tell you you're the best champ-" WHAMMO! Lariat!

Oh, and then there'd be a table piledriver where the table doesn't break. EXTREEEEME!

Erm. Odds are high that that's not actually up in the archive yet. Sorry!

If you'd pointed that earlier, I could have fixed it!

The problem is that he didn't do anything in front of cameras. Though I think about 85% of the wrestling autobiographies I've read has a story about him.

Reading some of those apps made me chuckle a bit. From Scorpio using a bodyslam for a finisher all the way up to William Craven using the old "He's so dominant, he might accidentally get DQ'd for kicking too much ass while kicking some guy's ass" for a weakness.

And Gary Grayson's app just confirms to me that I was right in liking that character as one of my all-time favorites...even if he got butt raped by Holden McGroin. :(

Oh, come on. He no-sold a wooden chair shot while he had the Tongan Death Grip locked on someone. Just stood there with the remnants of the chair hanging around his neck.

And after reading his wiki page, here's my favorite part:

Even renowned hardman Bad News Brown said in interviews that Fifita was without a doubt the most vigorous. Bill Goldberg has also called him the toughest man he's been in the ring with. His one time manager, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan said in a shoot interview that Haku was "the toughest man I've ever met in my life." In 1987, Haku had a backstage fight with Jesse Barr (who wrestled at the WWF as Jimmy Jack Funk) which allegedly resulted in Fifita gouging one of Barr's eyeballs out, causing Barr to later wear a glass eye. After this fight, Fifita had a reputation that steered wrestlers away from backstage confrontations.

In the book Arn Anderson: 4 Ever, Arn Anderson cites an event where Fifita pushed a cowboy through two sets of doors with one hand - and a conversation with The Barbarian about who was tougher. The Barbarian just shook his head when Anderson asked who would win in a fight between him and Fifita and stated "Meng's the man."

He also had an altercation with Brutus Beefcake after Beefcake complained to WWF management that Tonga slapped him too hard during a match. After WWF management informed Tonga, he immediately went to the locker room and grabbed Beefcake out of the shower, and began choking him, lifting him two feet off the floor. Other wrestlers were hesitant to break it up, so finally Hulk Hogan (who Tonga respected) was called in and was able to calm Tonga down.

Lol... Meng respects Hogan, that's lmfao-ish!

The irony is that it sounds like Meng legit used Beefcake's own WWF finisher on him. That's bad ass on so many levels.

Watched the Top Ten moments on Piper's Pit on 24/7 this morning.

I demand someone other than the National Champion come up with a good idea for a "weekly" interview segment where some big angles occur.

Make it happen!

I can also predict the first person who will respond to this with an idea. We shall see if I'm correct. Honor system!
