*Patiently waits for the James Monosso Flower Shop*

I need a Jimmy Hart. Someone hyperactive and highpitched to intro the James Monosso Flower Shop. Terry, you gotta bring in Edwin Lopez now.

Also, I'm sitting here with this Freebird pastiche app... it's taunting me.

Reading some of those apps made me chuckle a bit. From Scorpio using a bodyslam for a finisher all the way up to William Craven using the old "He's so dominant, he might accidentally get DQ'd for kicking too much ass while kicking some guy's ass" for a weakness.

And Gary Grayson's app just confirms to me that I was right in liking that character as one of my all-time favorites...even if he got butt raped by Holden McGroin. :(

Hey now, that's a valid drawback. I do appreciate the little writeup blurb for Craven's app link. Gotta ask though ... what about Ezekiel? C'mon Blue, the lightning robes are officially a joke and they've been sold to Bubba Hayes, rip Zeke's initial incarnation a new one. I know it was a bad idea now. :)

PS: Bill no longer has that "drawback". His age has replaced it. Mid-forties doesn't sound like much, but let's face it, 40 is slower than 30 is slower than 20 and proportionately, my 2-year-old is faster than me.
And it was at this moment that the entire world realized, in unison, that tandem bicycles were AWESOME~!

Bad Eye McBaine's app is awesome, and I always thought that his comparison of McBaine to Cactus Jack was especially inspired, even though that's totally not how he was written. Whenever I got a chance to write him, which wasn't that often, I always tried to throw in a Cactus elbow or something.

Also, CUCO r00led!

NEWS
********

VASQUEZ DROPS TO CURTAIN JERKER
The Championship Committee announced earlier today that after discussions with WKIK about the recent length of AWA shows, the Two Out Of Three Falls showdown between MAMMOTH Mizusawa and Juan Vasquez will OPEN the next Saturday Night Wrestling. It promises to be one of the most physical and brutal battles in AWA history when the giant tangles with the perennial Number One contender. Set your DVRs early! Don't stay on the big game! Be LIVE on WKIK at 5:05 for the final SNW before Memorial Day Mayhem!

FUTURE ENDEAVORS
Chairman Jim Watkins recently made news in Pro Wrestling This Week when he promised to clean out the roster and bring in some fresh blood. This spring cleaning may have begun this week with news that Scott Pain, Bling Bling Beaumont, and Shannon Stokes have all been released from their contracts. Rumors persist that there will be more bodies to drop after Memorial Day Mayhem.

CHILDES/LAYTON CONNECTION
A recent backstage conversation between Anton Layton and Percy Childes spotted by a source prompted some research from AWA Access' crack staff. After much hunting, it was discovered that Childes once managed Layton in several territories. Childes' reputation as the "Collector of Oddities" certainly meshes well with Layton's insanity. But what do they have to discuss now? Were they simply reliving old times or...?

SNYDER'S SILENCE
Ben Waterson has been making plenty of noise to anyone who will listen about Jack Snyder. "The man is scared silent. He's so worried about what I've got in store for him at Memorial Day Mayhem, he won't even talk to the announcers. He won't talk to the suits. He won't talk to the press. He won't talk to the fans. And after the Rumble, he won't be able to talk period through the broken jaw he's gonna get," Waterson remarked. He further expanded on his comments saying, "This isn't Southern Syndicate business. This is personal."

Either that, or he's elevating him so high that he actually went beyond main eventer, resetting the counter to opening match status.

Or the clash will be so big, it will create a singularity in which the match will be BOTH the opening and the closing match of SNW.

That or it frees both men up to go do something else later in the show...

I already planned a foot amputation spot, so I dunno how much Mizusawa can do with no means of standing up.

Watkins suddenly will announce the match is a LAST MAN STANDING match to one-up the "clever" booking of the Cena/Batista LMS match.

Damn you, Terry. Now I have to have that bouncing around my head.

Oh, and yes, the 'Birds were Plan A for the Southern Syndicate with the original plan being Stevie as PS, Houston as Gordy, and Dufresne as Buddy Jack. I believe Grant Stone was also considered for Gordy. There was also talk of a TCR/Stevie/Dufresne Freebirds at some point. I think Lopez' name got mentioned. Jack Greene was discussed. Bobby Taylor. MJV and Tim Sanders got Buddy Jack discussion.

Goodness, we considered a lot of people for that.

So, yes... please make the MVC. And someone could make the 'Birds too.

A good 2.5 years later...

One of the original BIG AWA ANGLES was going to be Broussard losing to Houston and getting suspended (got married... whoops) and then coming back to a whole bunch of shady looks, claiming he changed his ways. The Adam Rogers sorta feud was gonna happen (and it did) with the blow off being Broussard getting his rematch with Houston in a cage, winning (I think) and then getting clobbered by Houston post-match. Fans wouldn't be sure what to think or who to trust until Stevie would appear, look at Houston and the downed Broussard... and then attack Broussard! HOUSTON HEEL TURN! BROUSSARD FACE TURN! THE NEW CHAMPION BEING ASSAULTED IN THE CAGE!

And the big save would come from Adam Rogers, who would forgive his long time friend, and the AWA Mega Powers would have been born.

That's it for this edition of E-WRESTLING: WOULDA, SHOULDA, COULDA. Next time out, we'll discuss my roughly 150 emails to Blue in 2002 on how to beat Jake Shaw.

It would definitely be interesting to look back now at the things that ALMOST happened in the AWA, or at least were very strongly considered.

As Blue said in this thread somewhere, the initial Stevie face turn was supposed to be the impetus for a Freebirds homage. But it just never panned out and we went with the Flair and Horsemen homage instead.
"Destruction of Hell" start playing as Mason drop the mic and exit the
ring as fans throw stuffs at him but he punch out most of the fans even
children.
