Alright... after some discussion and some thought, I've decided that part of the AWA's Fifth Anniversary celebration will be the purchase of a new territory.

And I've also decided that the creation of that territory will be a collaborative effort. I'm going to rely on you guys to help pick a territory, name it, and then develop the history that we'll use for the purchase. It also means that we'll be building some characters that I'm going to expect some of you to handle. So, if you're handling existing characters and looking to add on or perhaps willing to trade out your established guy for someone else because you think it's time for a change, this would be a good time to get down to it.

We already started a loose discussion of what territory should we go for in another thread but let's move the discussion to here.

The AWA was launched with three territories being purchased - Todd Michaelson's Pro Wrestling Revolution, Sin City Wrestling out of Las Vegas, and Southern Championship Wrestling based out of Atlanta. The in-character reason given for those three was a) talent roster buildup and 2) giving the AWA territories to run in. Later when PCW was purchased, it was mostly to run a rival out of town but also to gain (primarily) the Lynches.

That brings us to now. The territory that we end up creative should fit at least one of those criteria above and preferably more than one.

I did a quick little map study tonight of areas that I would consider "strong" for the AWA, "moderate", and "light."

The quickly apparent areas that would make sense for an expansion (if this was the real deal) are:

The Southwest - a territory that runs Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and/or New Mexico
Something that runs Kansas and Missouri
Something in the Illinois, Indiana, or Ohio area
Something that runs Kentucky and/or the Virginias

Those seem to be the most likely places that would make sense for a "purchase."

Thoughts?

I still like the idea of a Caribbean fed. I think that it's a natural that a Texas fed would be looking for a greater focus on the Hispanic fan base, and places like Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic would add a rabid fanbase would lend a new energy and a unique vibe to the show.

Holy shit, I would be all over a Puerto Rico fed. The guy who originally trained me was a legend there: Hercules Ayala.

So run a Hercules Ayala homage!

Four Corner Wrestling instantly comes to mind for this..it's fits both in geographical terms and wrestling terms.

Something that runs Kansas and Missouri
You could expand this up with New Frontier Wrestling. The Frontier strip is six states from North Dakota straight down to Texas in a straight line. Also Ozark Mountain Wrestling Club (paying homage to the original St. Louis Wrestling Club).

In honor of all the spambots, you need an Uggs territory.
And here's where I pretend to be a writer...

Granted. But how many of us could truly and credibly supply that feel in writing? I've never seen a Caribbean show, couldn't tell you what it's like.

Also, back in 2007 or thereabouts, Fletch tried to run a fed actually set in 1985 out of the Midwest called Central States Wrestling. Hmmm.

I personally back the Midwest expansion. Maybe I'm just a fool, but I think buying a territory in the Virginias or in prime Big 10 country is a big jump. Expanding into Kansas and Missouri, while capturing the wrestling hotspot of St. Louis, makes a lot of sense.

Midwest Wrestling Club? (thanks Guzz)
Gateway Wrestling Alliance?
Championship Wrestling from the Midwest?

Clearly Hamilton Graham is the booker.

Well, if it's St. Louis, we just have to write 30 more years of history and the St. Louis Wrestling Office running their own expansion to cover all of MO and KS and we'd be in business.

You could buy out Joe Blanchard and Southwest Wrestling.

Actually, if we decided on the MO/KS region, I'd like to write in a rival promotion for the SLWO and a merger at some point. We can keep the SLWO history while building a new one as well.

If you go the VA/KY route I like using the term Commonwealth. World Class Commonwealth Wrestling, Classic Commonwealth Wrestling, and so forth...and I'd really like to see a "King" character come out of there.

MSW has a Lawler homage, but he came around near the same time Lawler did (mid-70's) so he's pretty old now.
"Destruction of Hell" start playing as Mason drop the mic and exit the
ring as fans throw stuffs at him but he punch out most of the fans even
children.
