First off, how many teams do we have?

The tag division really suffered this year, so if you'd like to help out a comeback, I think 16 should be the absolute minimum. Preferably 24, to get enough teams to get wins and help define themselves.

But, if you're just looking to get this out of the way this year, I think eight would do.

I think one night, 8 teams, is the way to go. Use legit tag teams, push that division, not thrown together singles guys. If they aren't staying together after the event, they're not really contributing anything in the end for the division. Use your 8 top teams, maybe 1 outsider or something if they're a big name, and that's that. Focusing on real, staying here tag teams focuses the division. It show's all the readers who is who instead of "Wait... which one of these guys is an outsider again?" More teams does not make the division better. Focus does.

Less writing for you and anyone else helping. Then we can move onto a normal set of cycles without the whole tourney deal hanging over everyone.

I'd say 24 but have this include qualifiers leading to the final 8 on one show. Unless you just want to knock it all out at once. I just think most of the handlers in AWA will want to partake in it and it could land you a few solid new teams post Stampede Cup.

I disagree. I think it's borderline lunacy to do ANOTHER tourney that big so close to the last one. Death knell of a fed bad idea. It's such a gigantic undertaking. 24 teams is 48 guys. That's the size of the second round of the last tourney. Focus fire and let quality, not quantity, carry the event and division.

I don't know that there's 24 teams to even fill this thing out without putting in filler teams, which waters down the whole concept.

8 teams, one night, and bring in a few (no more than three) outsider teams.

I couldn't even tell you the teams active in AWA right now.

But the thing that made the Crockett Cup special was that it was a tag team tournament, not "a tournament for tag teams". That difference is not semantics! It means that the tournament was so important that guys like Magnum TA and Ronnie Garvin and Dusty Rhodes and Nikita Koloff would team up to try and win in it.

Our tag team division is currently so weak that, if you don't have some singles powerhouse dream teams forming to participate, then I would question whether there's any value in doing the tournament at all.

So, while I continue to write this behemoth of a show, I must ask...

With the tournament fatigue (I'm guessing) still present with many of you, what format would you like to see for the Cup? One night, eight teams? Two nights, sixteen teams? More?

Speak to me, Warriors.

Considering the fact that there's no way only us handlers are feeling Tournament Fatigue, I think 8 in a night might be the way to go with it. Won't have to go scrounging for singles pairings that way, plus you can really hype it up as the elite teams competing against each other to see who among them is the best.

According to the last AWA update I received, here are the teams listed:

The Aces (Danny Tyler & Steven Childes w/Percy Childes)
The Antons (Nick & Alex Anton)
The Bishop Boys (Cletus Lee & Duane Henry Bishop w/Cousin Bo)
Gunnar Gaines & Ryan Martinez
The Rave (Jerby Jazz & Shizz Dawg OG)
Robert Donovan & Jack Lynch
The Rockstar Express (Scotty Storm & Marty Morgan)
The Samoan Hit Squad (Scola & Mafu)
Skywalker Jones & Hercules Hammonds
Violence Unlimited (Jackson Haynes & Danny Morton)

The "singles pairings" are only listed if they're a regular tag team.

VU, Aces, Antons, Martinez/Gaines, Samoans, Rockstars, Rave is a perfectly acceptable tourney if you ask me! Yes, that's 7, but I assume the loser of Bishops/Lynchovan would also be in.

Obviously the tag champs would be left out, whomever they are. Winner gets them.

I'm gonna have Jones/Hammonds and VU pull out of the tourney just to screw all of you over.

Nobody else does a tag tourney in e-w of this magnitude or history, that's why I like that it includes so many teams. I agree with Joe that its great seeing some dream teams thrown in as we'll. Maybe Cooper/Langseth are a team, Vasquez/Nenshou, Sweet Daddy Williams and BVB could stick together, Carver/Shane could be forced to partner, the possibilities are endless and that's not even counting outsiders.

Blue Burnout is also something to look at. he did that monster BST, then SuperClash, now this?

Base your tourney size on your number of matchwriters, and get over the "must write them consecutively" thing. Is my advice.

I will write for it. So there's one.
