So until Blue posts his review I thought I'd send out a nice lengthy review. It's about 3/4's done but I am taking a breather. I'll finish up later tonight (hopefully) with the last pair of matches and some final thoughts.

SUPERCLASH FEEDBACK

This isn't a review per say, hence the title, this is more of me expressing my thoughts as I read the show and some of the weird things I emailed Blue over the course of the past few weeks while he was working on it (I think I harassed him with a random idea that wasn't used at least twice a week!)

INTRO
I like the effort Blue always puts into intros. When I watched the Christmas Eve sing a long Monday Night Raw intro I instantly thought of the BST PPV. It's always so creepy how things in the WWE mirror things we do in our circle. I sent Blue an email at one point saying I'd love to see the show start with the old EMWC disclaimer because the show was being co-hosted by Blue and Empire Sports and what not. He went with a more modern internet redistribution disclaimer. Makes sense, and I know he does his best to separate the AWA and the E no matter how much all of us harass him about it and then whine when there's too many E wrestlers roaming around...we're so hypocritical! Nevertheless I like that SuperClash has a continuous/traditional theme, it's a nice touch. Solid intro piece, I won't ramble on and on about it. I liked the mention of all the other cities that have been synonymous with big e-w events and how that ties into LA. Good stuff, nice attention to detail with the venue being downsized to accommodate the amount of people that would realistically attend the event. I'm sure Blue got plenty of harassment from others on the "Big Poppa Buyrate" comment by Bucky. It would have been funny if he sent us a fake ridiculous intro ahead of time just to get people riled up...kinda like when movie trailers have parts/jokes that never make the final cut.

RAVE VS. RYGUNN
The De Lorean and its sequel have gotten plenty of praise from everyone. I'm sure Blue is like, "wtf...talk about the rest of the card dammit!" so I will! I envisioned RyGunn winning the entire time as it just doesn't make for a good angle if they lose right off the bat after forming their partnership. I'm still not sold on the Gunnar/Ryan combo as Gunnar/Alex and Justin/Ryan makes much more sense to me however I had fun writing their debut match awhile back and it's good to have an odd duo team running around. I really want to see the Rave get a serious push or invested in an actual feud with someone. I know they're a big over the top ridiculous but a lot of great tag teams in e-w have been comedic teams. I'm not saying they need to be crowned Stampede Cup champs, but a feud against them an oldschool traditional team could be money. It was fun to see Jer write the team in a match to see them at their finest in-character wise during a match. He kept it fun and still focused on it being a wrestling match. The TEN MINUTES REMAINING mark reminded me... Oh crap.. I didn't put those in the match I wrote... another thing Blue would have to edit in later. I'm sure I wasn't the only one. I liked that Martinez slammed Jezz on the "car"; you just know that it had to be included in a spot somewhere, and the teaser about the Rave slamming Martinez's head under the hood. The second "car" and arrival of the real Rave was funny and fitting for THIS team and gimmick only, it would have been cheesy for anyone else. The youtube link for the finisher was....odd....if the move is that hard to explain just go with something else! Nice solid opener for the show, Jer did a terrific job keeping the pace strong and incorporating all parties. Although we now know due to the review thread that it was stratted for Justin to stay in his seat, it doesn't make sense to me. He's been poking his head into things the entire cycle, for him to just sit back and shout out doesn't really fit to me and I think I would have rather seen him get caught up battling the fake Rave and the three of them tossed into a De Lorean and Gunnar slamming the doors on them or something odd. Imagine the panic and hate mail from Back to the Future fan boys if one of the De Loreans was destroyed and pushed in neutral over the aisle with the fake Rave and Justin inside.

GM: MY STARS THOSE MEN WERE INSIDE!

BW: NOT THE DE LOREAN! Fans.... I apologize for what you have witnessed here this evening. The AWA is not to be held responsible for this heinous attack on the De Lorean. Please address all of your mail and death threats to Empire Sports at P.O. BOX 453 Evil Empire Rd, Los Angeles, CA 92633.

Now then...

-Novy segment. Nice tie in with the opening, talking about the history of the venue and the E without going too G.I. EMWC on us. I also never viewed Novy as an "E Guy", more of a rogue indy worker who made an appearance down the stretch of the E and who continues to tour the world looking for the best competition and to challenge his skill set against the best workers in the business. Right now this has brought him to the AWA as it is the best thing going, if another competitor in another company were to be heralded as the best worker I always envisioned Novy leaving without notice and focusing on taking on that challenge. A solid baby face seg, Novy stays true to himself and his character by addressing his fighting spirit and passion for his sport.

MAMMOTH VS. GIANT
Even though the feud struggled at times in character, I was still looking forward to this match. Big man vs. big man matches can be boring to read at times especially considering this is not a powerbomb-happy fed. I actually wanted to write this match and had a "King's Road" build up in mind and I'm glad Wallie kinda followed that same mindset. The match built up nicely with punches/chops, wearing each other down, and led into the bigger moves and what not. Having Bart in a wheel chair we just knew something crazy was going to happen...even if it was still a surprise to me how it all played out. Bart crawling over Aso, Maximus flattening them both, was very well done to me. I don't really know why the match was thrown out, I think Maximus should have covered them both for the W and Meekly quickly counting three so he could signal for help. Aso then abandoning Bart and basically crippling him was awesome, and I'm BEGGING for a Maximus/Aso partnership for the Stampede Cup ala Brothers of Destruction kind of thing.

-Rick Marley Seg
Boy, Jason Dane grew a set of balls in this one! The irritation of the comments was expressed nicely on Marley, and he sells it well with admitting he hasn't been at his best. His comments about bringing real meaning to "steal the spotlight" meant so much more later but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

-Shane/Hayes/Carver/Other uninvited guests Seg
Having a blast working with Rich and Carver, I thought this piece really expressed the hate the two have for one another. I think we've been building this up to the point that the two really just despise what the other one stands for and what their beliefs are. Hopefully others reading it are picking up on that same message. Shane runs down the AWA and its titles (sorry Blue!) in effort to express that he despises others in a much different way and continues his sense of entitlement that he bestows upon everything he does. Carver hates him for this and think the business owes him absolutely nothing. This leads to Hayes eventually slapping Carver in a "no she didn't!" moment followed by the security guards jumping Hannibal while Terry Shane waits until he is at his weakest before making his move. The guards unveil themselves as unused and forgotten talent...Donnie White, Aaron Anderson, Harry Hyatt, and Lenny Strong. Carver is left beaten down moments before the match.

STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT: TEAM JONES VS. TEAM NOVY
Buford P. Higgins is so money. Best team intro ever, great job team! I think backstage shenanigans and a rivalry between Higgins and Hayes would be priceless. I don't know if it's just because my character was in the match, but this just felt like a big deal to me. It felt like when Money in the Bank first started taking off after a round or two of doing it (before the WWE watered it down). I hope this continues as a SuperClash tradition and primarily for young upcoming talent. Blue did a good job trying to give everyone their moment before they were eliminated. Lynch went crazy clearing people out before he went down, and then Terry Shane's moment came to an abrupt end unfortunately (for me). I was excited to see how Blue actually wrote Shane in the ring since this was his first time writing a match for him. I felt like he was channeling Dolph Ziggler at times. For me, especially with fedheads like Blue, I don't like to add in a lot of "additional moves" on the apps as I like to see how he's written and then I enjoy stealing bits and pieces of things I like in their matches. The leaping clothesline into the corner will probably make the cut, and thanks for using the apron/drop-kick spot even if you used a more realistic version then the one I submitted haha. Ahem, continuing on, the Carver/Shane feud for Rich and I was the main focus and with Carver getting the pin on him, and then Shane blasting him with the branding iron that I am never giving back...never...the story is able to continue nicely...even if deep down I REALLY wanted Shane to win as I also has a genius plan for him to lose that opportunity to Carver! Incorporating our feud into this match was much more fun for us then having a predetermined wash out finish on a big show. Madness ensues before Novy finishes Green off with a standing SSP. Marley is next to go following a Shining Wizard from Nenshou and suddenly I feel like we are in PWR with these finishing moves! It also makes me want to read a Novy/Nenshou match. Staley goes down next after a Nenshou Moonsault, and I like that others keep trying to make the save but are prevented by the opposition (opposed to always just having people laid out on the outside when pinfalls occur). Novy is left against Jones/Stone/Nenshou. At this point I thought Team Jones was going to absolutely win with an incredible heroic showing from Novy...but well...I was wrong. A rapid quick counter to the Etched In Stone was the only plausible ending as Novy would need a quick unexpected pin for him it to not realistically be broken up. I was trying to think how he would even score a first pinfall and the only other option I could think of was Jones being pinned with Percy holding back the UA from breaking it up to get rid of him but I just knew Blue wanted the Jones/Novy spotfest finish for a match like this. With Jones/Nenshou left I could easily see one costing the other the match as regardless of what happened they would either have to face November or one another, so it didn't really matter who got pinned. Nevertheless, Nenshou was the next to go after Jones was caught off guard by Novy and inadvertently splashing across him followed by a November Reign.

Down to Jones/Novy...let the spotfest begin. The modified ropeswing kick was interesting... I still have a tough time picturing it (mainly because if you are running up the back you would have to bend down to grab the top rope... I think if you want to nitpick Jones would have to collapse over the bottom rope for this to be feasible)...I was trying to think of what you would call it.. Rope-Sling Double Face Kick was the best I could do! Still.. it's a cool spot, and like I said, that's really nitpicking. Novy goes for the springboard SPP, Jones counters with an inverted lungblower/double knee facebreaker or what have you, and then goes for the SSP of his own...Novy with the knees....and then the cradle to end it. I was happy to see Novy get the win and a chance to go for a title. I'm not sure what the final "time" of the match was but it had to be close to an hour.

-Stegglet/Dane Seg
Stegglet says Watkins has been served his walking papers, and then avoids Dane's question about the "Wise Men". Stegglet should have just "a group of men who visited Jesus following his birth and came baring gifts" and walked away. Either way he dodges the question and we begin the "who are the wise men" saga.

-Vasquez Seg
Juan does a great job of saying that revenge really doesn't even begin to describe what his quest to destroy Calisto and everything associated with WrestleRock is about. Solid piece, I would expect nothing less.

DUFRESNE VS. VASQUEZ
This is a great example of how two great wrestlers hate each other and COULD wrestle...but instead...they just beat the living hell out of one another because that's how much hatred is involved...and the match hasn't even started yet. There's a comment about how when EMWC closed that only Vasquez/Martinez carried the banner of LA afterwards and it made me think...man.. if AWA does SuperClash in LA next year too I'd love to see Martinez/Vasquez. Two guys from LA, headlining the biggest event of the year in their hometown. I liked the fake out hiptoss which drew a cheer from the crowd, only to be followed by a standing Lariat. It just seemed so clever to me. Dufresne regains control after Vasquez tries to use the chair.. only for this leading into Vasquez regaining control and hitting the right cross, the City of Angels, the frogsplash, and then maybe one of the best lines (or paragraphs) of the night by Bucky that starts with, "You take a man who took the beating of ten lifetimes..." I won't paraphrase the entire thing but that part was very, very, very well written. Probably one of the things I'll remember most. It was just PERFECT for the situation. We are teased with a piledriver, then Meekly getting tossed out of the ring by Vasquez leading to a DQ win for Calisto, and then the final phase of killing Calisto. Vasquez goes to break Dufresne's leg and out marches Stevie Scott (I marked out, I was just WAITING to see how and when Stevie showed up at SuperClash) Looks like we've got Scott/Vasquez next cycle and I for one am excited.

-Bobby Taylor Seg
Quick thoughts on Juan's display, followed by the official announcement of the partnership with Sunshine State Wrestling and a quick SSW promo.

THE ACES VS. BVB/SDW
Well, I wrote this match, and since all the characters were handled by Rog and Blue and they both knew the ending I just wanted to make it a fun read for them, give them a couple spots/moments that would seem SuperClash worthy, and get them excited about reading their characters in action. Hopefully I accomplished that, if you liked how it all played out then I did my job as a writer (as did Blue who cleaned up much of my shenanigans) and though I knew he would edit out my "WHOSE YOUR DAD-DY" chant from the rambunctious LA crowd after a Sweet Daddy "highspot" if you want to call it that...I hope he at least smiled when he first read it! Had fun writing all four of these wrestlers and even though I'm most excited about BVB back in action, I really started to mark out for the Aces the more I wrote them. Plus, I hope SDW sticks around for a more permanent role. I'm also glad Rog's apps for his characters have a legit back-story in them because it definitely helped me understand the characters more and create better banter between Gordon and Bucky. My advice..update your back stories/history people!

-Quick SSW Seg...very quick...

-Michaelson/Blue seg
I liked Blue calling out Todd for not being grateful for everything he did for him. All of the guys in-character are quick to write off what EMWC did for their careers.

-Stampede Cup Preview Seg
I'm excited for it. I hope all the former winners make an appearance... I don't care if some of them are nearly dead after SuperClash or MIA.

RETIREMENT MATCH: WATKINS VS. PETROW
Another all out fight. I said it before in the reaction thread by I loved the attention to detail and history in this one. I'm glad Joe even started the thread about the Bulldog Brown Table (which of course, made us all know it was going to be involved and a nifty way to not have to explain its significance in the match). Petrow's taunting was great, I probably could have done without him sticking his hand down Watkins pants and ripping out his protective cup and shoving it in his face..but to each their own. I wonder how much that will sell for on eBay. This of course leads to Watkins getting a claw hold on Petrow's crotch later to avoid a steel chair shot...craziness. I loved when Petrow called out to Blue asking him, "What did Gibson do?! What's his move?!" followed by Petrow drilling Watkins with the Asshole Driver that Bucky calls, "The Move That Shall Not Be Named!" after Gordon refuses to say it. Then after the JTF foreshadowing of it...Petrow drags out the Bulldog Brown Table and we are teased as to whether someone will FINALLY go through a table in AWA...and then of course this is followed by Petrow producing the dreaded....tricycle. I like the nostalgic value of all of this, it just feels like something we would have seen in 1999 in e-w. Watkins gets up, shoves Petrow from the turnbuckle which leads to Petrow breaking his leg..Watkins snaps...bashes him over the head with his 2x4/lumber and the series of events of Petrow lifting his broken leg on the ropes, spitting in his face, and basically daring him to do his worst is golden...until finally Petrow snaps and quits and is dragged out screaming, "I quit" in picturesque Sychosis fashion. Though I get the tease of it all, I think it would have been fitting for Petrow's career to end with him attempting a tricycle assisted moonsault or something bizarre with Watkins moving and sending himself THROUGH the Bulldog Brown table. It would have been fitting, I think it would have been the perfect time and the perfect show for it, but I understand why it didn't happen. Just makes me wonder...what and who is Blue saving the table spot for?! That's probably the only negative for me personally on an otherwise fantastic double beatdown. Interested to see the fallout of Watkins after this since he has been released as we found out earlier.

-Marcus Broussard shilling the AWA Superstar Series dvd collection. Fun stuff.

-Robert Donovan Seg
Good piece, kind of strange for Donovan to go from "walways me" straight to "You're damn right I am!" ready to fight after Lynch's quick pep talk and for Donovan to back track instantaneously on it. Don't know if I bought it completely. I liked the parts after it, making the Lynch and Donovan legacies and their fathers proud...just not the middle. Bummed there was also no Bishop Boys piece.

Which brings me too...I absolutely did not like that the show before SuperClash was a preview show. I missed not having promos on this show from all the big competitors in all the big matches. The ones we did get them from (more on that later) were fantastic, and that's one of my favorite parts of PPV shows. The handlers digging down deep for that one epic promo for the payoff match. I know the show would have been even BIGGER and we want to focus on the matches but for me, I love PPV promos, and while we had a handful of them, I wish we had more. I know everyone doesn't share the same philosophy as me and that's ok, like I said, it's my personal preference.

BISHOP BOYS vs. DONOVAN/LYNCH
This just felt like a classic southern territory tag match to me and that's a compliment. The characters and the style really fit AWA and Doran did a good job capturing it in the match. The Cletus Lee Bishop drop-kick was a fun spot, it had good tag team chemistry and didn't just feel like four wrestlers exchanging blows but a legitimate tag team match with two actual teams, plus nice usage of the hot tag to Donovan from the good guys. I like the chokeslam tease by Donovan and the gutwrench powerbomb not leading to the finish due to heelish shenanigans from Cletus Lee and company. Lynch gets the claw, lets up when he sees James in trouble, and it all leads up to the Bishop's stealing the win and Donovan being upset that Jack sacrificed the titles to save his brother James and what happens after... which is...Donovan turning on Jack Lynch. To me, this is great on so many levels. I want to see the Lynches back together for the Stampede Cup... I liked Donovan turning on him after he witnessed Jack value his relationship with James more than the success of their partnership...and I'm excited to see how this all plays out. I sadly never really got into the Lynch/Donovan vs. Bishop Boys feud, it just didn't grab me for whatever reason...but I'm already digging Donovan vs. Jack Lynch and I think the Bishop Boys could benefit from feuding with another team. I guess RyGunn would be the biggest threat at the moment but I don't know if I buy another singles team pairing as the number one contenders just yet. Maybe a mini feud with the Longhorn Riders though I'd love for a quick Rave/Bishop Boys feud leading into the Cup. I mean...it would be crazy and drive Blue nuts for two rednecks to feud with two futuristic whackjobs but I'd buy it for a cycle. I kinda picture the Rave doing a photo opp outside of SNW this week taking fan photos and signing autographs next to their De Lorean when the Bishops pull up in their old run down Chevy Pick-Up and park right next to them. Jerby Jezz begins mouthing off in his language from the future followed by Cousin Bo' rambling in his thick redneck accent that nobody can understand. Neither man understands the other and thinks they were being insulted and it breaks out into a parking lot brawl. Let the insanity ensue. As far as the other side of the spectrum... Lynches vs. Donovan...s? (who brings in his family) could be a good ole fashion family feud.

-Brody Seg
Too early into this character for me to buy into this yet, kinda stuck on the fence and waiting to see where it goes.

-Stampede Cup Seg
16 teams, more excitement from me, can't wait for this.

-Craven Seg
LOVED it. This is why I love promos on PPVs, it was Craven being Craven and letting it all out right before the match. I think Moze wrote a great promo here that hit on all cylinders for how creepy and strange the character is. I know characters like this are not for everyone but I really dug this piece. I felt like Craven deserved to win before reading this, but after reading it, I WANTED him to win.

CRAVEN VS. ALEX MARTINEZ
Even though Martinez was kind of MIA all cycle I was still looking forward to reading this. I sent Blue a few random ideas for it when he said he was beginning to question whether he could still write matches like this anymore on JTF. The only spot I really wished he used was Gordon walking out mid match after seeing enough of the barbed wire brutality and refusing to call the match anymore. He still would have had Bucky and Blue to announce! Even without it, he did a great job having Gordon sell the right moments, and even with Blue and Bucky comments I think Gordon's mindset and outlook on the match is what carried the match that may not have been as barbaric and body part gutting as some of the old E matches might have been, but it was just as, if not more, dramatic. Such as..

GM: This... this is difficult to watch, fans. As a fan of professional wrestling... a fan of the sports... the athletic competition...etc....this isn't... this isn't want I want to see.

Followed by...

CB: Then pack your crap up and get out of here, Myers...

I hate you, Blue. That was such a tease. :)

I liked Craven ripping down the ropes and exposing the barbed wire more, the wire tearing through Martinez's jeans, and so forth. The match worked for me for what you would expect for a first barbed wire match, it even went a bit further. Blue didn't cop out and just have a few spots mixed in with a wrestling match. It WAS a barbed-wire match and both guys bled a ton. The salt spot was fun stuff, but I liked the barbed-wire camel clutch and GM referencing Sultan Azam Sharif and CB saying "to hell with that" and referencing Eternally Extreme. The chemistry between an oldschool GM and a modern CB is entertaining to read. I'm also glad it ended with a Fireball Chokeslam onto the barbed wire and not a roll up or some non gruesome finish. Though I wanted Craven to win, the finish with him and CB was intriguing. I know Blue is begging for a Heyman Dangerous Alliance II in the WWE, maybe his partnership with Craven will lead to his own Dangerous Alliance in the AWA or a demonic Taker/Paul Bearer type of thing. I hope it continues in some capacity, though it could easily just have been CB finally telling Craven "he belongs" or something.

-Hamilton Graham Seg
So this was kind of between that but I didn't want to side track away. Hopefully Graham is back in action next cycle.

I glossed over this in my thoughts but yeah, it was a nice touch to things. Not sure if it leads to anything more (my guess is probably not, at least immediately), but a nice moment of tension that puts the thought in the back of your mind...COULD something come of this?

He actually put the uninjured leg on the ropes. Then Watkins injured that limb as well.

I briefly toyed with the Zeno finish, where, unable to kick out, Petrow instead sinks his teeth into Watkins ear, actually biting a piece off, and *that* would have made Watkins snap into the final beatdown. But I assumed that Chris would never let me go through with it, so it became a spit instead.

Lynches vs. Donovan...s? (who brings in his family) could be a good ole fashion family feud.

This was heavily added on and editted by Chris, for two simple reasons:

1) Until recently I hadn't been paying attention to what was going on in the tag division, and as such I didn't intrinsically know what was going on and what had to be done. I didn't know the Bishops path of destruction, and as such it didn't feel natural when I was scripting. There's something about writing matches for characters you are comfortable with and know, and I don't really know the Bishops. I feel like I know Donovan pretty well from the E, even the AWA version, and I was reading carefully during the Lynches initial push, so I felt like I knew Jack enough.

On a separate tangent, I thought Vasquez-Dufresne was less wrestling match and more short form story, which is to say I thought it was brilliant. I can compare it most to Temple-Courtade from the E, which might as well have had a Greek chorus with it. They came off very personal and very real and it's because Chris clearly knows those characters really well and is inside their head. Same with Temple and Courtade. More than likely he didn't need strats for those matches. In many regards, that was probably the same for Stevie and Marcus.

2) Half of the match featured people who in AWA-world shouldn't bump a lot. So trying to build the match around people who shouldn't do a lot of selling, whose head I was not inside... bleh. Wasn't great.

So, give me a half match writing credit.

Other than not understanding a word Sultan says which turns into Supernova of all people being his translator...I really like it. I like it because I love the way AWA has continuity on its cards and you would never have segments like this years ago in e-w. The handlers are comfortable enough to have Blue adlib for them when needed, and Blue is able to call on last moment additions like this to keep the show running smoothly. This is where e-w and the handlers to me have evolved the most, it really feels like everyone is working together to put out the best possible show at all times, and not just the best possible version of themselves or their character. End rant.

SIX MAN TAG MATCH: Royalty vs. AWA HEROES
I always had a little trouble with Sultan cashing in his STS for this match this. Does it make sense, yes.. does it seem like the most logical match choice, probably not. If we are going to stip up the show... SAS vs. Langseth in a cage having him all to himself could have been epic. Nevertheless, this was one of the matches I was most looking forward too. Yes I would have liked a bit more from Langseth leading up to it, and yes I would have liked to have seen Petrow as the third partner from the get go...but that aside...I STILL was excited for it and I loved the level of mystery that still surrounded it. Off-topic... I am waiting on Petrow to reappear as the much anticipated West Memphis Assassin V at SuperClash V. Also off topic, from the day I first came back to e-w and the AWA some time ago, Dave Cooper has been one of my favorite reads. I was bummed when he was eliminated from the World Title tournament as I saw him as a serious threat to the title.

The Third Man being introduced and coming out as a masked character was fantastic to me in the sense that I hated I had to wait as a reader/fan. I think in this instance I would have had the heels come out second only because we instantly found out that Marley was the other partner. Marley didn't really make sense to me since I'm not as read up on the old AWA so I instantly was confused as to whether he had history with any of the participants and what it was. I'm glad we didn't have to wait long for the Sultan/Langseth showdown, I thought it was smart to have them tangle early on and Sultan to come out firing away. At first I didn't like the fact that he tagged out so early to Nova but after thinking about it, it made more sense that each member got a chance to slap him (Langseth) around a bit. Clever. I dug Langseth locking in the Camel Clutch and taunting Sharif, only to have Sharif later apply it to Langseth, no sell a chair shot from the THIRD MAN, and then club him with forearm smashes only to then be blasted by Langseth with the chair. That little sequence was very solid to me. I also dug the turn.. Marley running back after being assisted to the locker room after a missed moonsault to come to the aid of his team and save Nova, only to superkick him and for Royalty to lay the beat down and get the win. The attack continues on Sharif as the masked man beats him with his cowboy boot and reveals himself to be Larry Doyle. Fortunately I spent a lot of time skimming old shows recently when proposing a handful of scenarios to Blue for my latest Shane angle and I really got into the Blonde Bombers and Doyle stuff that I read so while not the surprise I was thinking it was going to be, I did get excited that this possibly meant Doyle could be bringing in some "friends' for the Stampede Cup.

-Robert Donovan Seg
Great promo here. I like the way he spoke about Lynch, him not ever caring about the titles, and trying to paint himself as the victim after attacking him. Him calling out the Lynch family and teasing us with the idea that he might not come alone next show got me excited. I always love post PPV/Supercard shows.

LADDER MATCH: HUDSON VS. BRYANT
Blue does a great job selling this match before it starts with Bucky on several occasions. I like the bull charge by Hudson to start, Bryant trying to duck out, and Hudson yanking him back in by his hair. This kind of sets the tempo right off the bat for what we are going to be in store for. The biggest compliment I could give is that it really did remind me of HBK/Razor Ramon in the sense that it FELT like the first ladder match. It wasn't the crazy over the top spotfest that you see today but it felt like the characters had a challenge in front of them that they were unaccustomed too and used this obstacle/weapon the only way they knew how. For the time frame and what the AWA stands for, it was absolutely perfect and that's why as I noted in my trivia response that it was my favorite match. This was a "milestone" match for this stage of the AWA's life and it hit the nail head on for me. I really liked the way the ladder itself became the third participant in the match. It took a beating and it was reflected by the way it was portrayed in the match, becoming unstable and wobbly. This leads to several teased endings before eventually Bryant smacks Hudson with the roll of silver dollar coins that spill all over the place and allows him to collect his prize. Great battle, great feud, great match. Couldn't ask for more.

This was the other example that I referred to in the first part of my review of why I love promos on supercards. Terry in particular has always been great at rising to the occasion and pulling out big promos for big shows. If you could give RPers a clutch rating he'd be at the top of the list. It all ties together so perfectly, I'm glad I went back and re-read it after finishing the show because at the time I kind of breezed through it to get to the match. I suggest you do the same if you haven't already.

Calling Juan out in the ring at the next SNS. Man...it's shaping up to be an excellent show with a lot of heated confrontations already. I kind of feel a twist coming in this... I just get that feeling.

WORLD TITLE MATCH: SUPREME WRIGHT VS. JAMES MONOSSO
One of the VERY few things I missed about this show was the absence of Percy Childes and the Unholy Alliance on the mic (again, why I like more promos on PPVs). I really wanted to read a Monosso piece prior to the match.

You don't necc. get the hate in this match that you've seen in others, but what does come across is that the most important thing in the match is winning and claiming the title. The title remains the most important thing and I think that's good in the end as you don't want your first champ or challenge no selling the significance or importance of it. I liked the addition of Preston in this feud and having him in Wright's corner as a fellow Combat Corner guy and more importantly, someone who has beat Monosso before. I dug Preston getting involved and instead of DQing Wright for him punching Monosso, the ref ejects him from ringside. The Fat Tuesday on the floor was a cool highspot for this and one of those needed..."whose gonna get up first" from this moments that usually signals the end is approaching. Monosso hurling Wright at the referee and Preston was all kinds of cool, and then slamming Wright and Preston's heads together is icing on the cake. I liked the chaotic ending with Cobra Clutch Crossface, Preston, Michaelson, and so forth.. and then Monosso ending the match with the Billion Dollar Bomb seemed oddly fitting... though I could have also marked out for Monosso applying the Cobra Clutch Crossface while Preston and Michaelson suddenly stop beating the crap out of one another out of pure shock as Wright taps out. Sure, that would have been completely random, but memorable! I think Monosso retaining was the right decision for AWA and the World Title moving into 2013 and it really makes me curious as to what lies ahead of Supreme Wright and if Eric Preston comes back full time. I could see this leading into a Preston/Wright rivalry and that would be all kinds of awesome.

What follows next worked for me too... it really puts over the new Royalty and I LOVE that a new Blonde Bombers squad is formed. The show naturally has to end in madness since it's LA and it gives a lot of people a ton of stuff to work off of. The table tease was fun too as the locker room cleared. Rex Summers runs out and is later announced in the update to have left AWA... bummer.

Then we get the voice over. Thankfully it wasn't from someone in a limo. Which makes me wonder...does Blue even KNOW who the voice is yet?! :)

Either way, I'm intrigued.

All in all it FELT like the show of the year to me. A lot of big matches, some great rivalries, memorable moments, mystery, surprise, and curiosity... everything you could ask for from a show called SuperClash. The show flowed very smoothly, and even though some feuds suffered a bit through the cycle, I was still excited to read each match and see what happened which isn't easy. I thought it was better than BST, and am amped for AWA 2013.
